I can't say enough good things about this practice. On the superficial level, the space is…read morewelcoming, clean, with beautiful nature views though big windows in the treatment rooms. But all this is to be expected at a top clinic in a place like Boulder. What really separates it is the quality of Dr. Raposo and his staff. Jodi and Stephany are at the front desk and they are so helpful and friendly in what is a very tough job juggling all the people (many grouchy and impatient because they're in pain) who want to get appointments. I had an emergency situation, and even though the schedule was full, because I was a repeat patient, they were diligent in finding a way to get me in. Sarah is Dr. Raposo's assistant and she is lovely and personable and warm even as my appointment extended everyone's work day by an hour or so. Dr. Raposo is everything you want in an oral surgeon. He seems to intrinsically understand that oral surgery is traumatic for most people and even though he does this every day, he never loses sight of what the patient must be experiencing. He and Sarah talk you through each part of the process, and ensure that the friend/family member driving you home has the responsibility of the paperwork, prescriptions, extra gauze, etc. They even walk you out to your car. When it was clear that my tooth needed to come out, there were other clinics who could have seen me right away, but given my positive experience in 2015, I knew it was the right move to fight to get in to see Dr. Raposo. We're pretty spoiled to have such talented and caring practitioners in Boulder and in everyone who saw me for this one tooth, from North Boulder Dental to Boulder Endodontics to, finally, Alpine Valley Oral Surgery.

This is by far the Best Oral Surgeon I have ever found. Dr. Raposo is incredibly knowledgeable and…read morevery fun and caring. His staff is just wonderful. I have not been an easy case and I won't go any other place. Fear and Pain have been dramatically reduced by Dr. Raposo and his team. I can not recommend them more highly!

I've never had to file a review of a bad experience with an oral surgeon until now. I recently…read morefound myself in Clayton S. Harper, DDS, MD's office at Boulder Creek Implant & Oral Surgery. My primary dentist had discovered a red area on the bottom of my left tongue and strongly encouraged me to visit an oral surgeon for a professional opinion and possible biopsy. On June 23, I had my first scheduled appointment with Dr. Harper. One of the first things he told me was that he just got back from a 5 week vacation in Europe. He looked at my tongue area for a couple of minutes and told me he thought that area was being aggravated by rubbing against some rough tooth surfaces. I was presented for a bill in the amount of $239 and informed that my Delta Dental coverage would not cover any of that "specialist visit" expense. He sent me back to my primary dentist to discuss the tooth surface theory and to return after a month for a follow up visit. Kat, the front desk receptionist, told me there would be no additional charges for the follow up visit in one month. After consultation with my primary dentist and some tooth smoothing, I returned to Dr. Harper's office on August 23 for my follow up visit. He proceeded to tell me how much he had been fishing throughout Mexico during the summer. He reviewed the tongue area again and suggested we proceed with a biopsy, "just in case." His assistant began to numb that area of my mouth. Kat then brought in an invoice while I was in the chair numbing up. There was a $55 charge for an "oral evaluation" and $224 for a "soft tissue biopsy." She slipped me a small piece of paper telling me I would be charged an additional $240+ for tissue processing and diagnosis. When I questioned the $55 charge and what she had told me previously, she said that would be the charge. She agreed to immediately discuss this with Dr. Harper. She returned shortly and told me he refused to honor the no cost follow up visit. A couple of minutes later, Dr. Harper entered the room and asked me if there was something bothering me. Getting more numb by the minute, I questioned him about the surprise $55 fee. He dug in, got defensive and refused to honor that promise. I explained I am a senior citizen on a fixed income. His reply was, "We are all on fixed incomes!" This is after telling me how he had been in Europe for 5 weeks earlier in the summer and recent multiple fishing trips to Mexico. This, from a man with the initials DDS and MD after his name. He said he did not appreciate the energy coming from me and suggested we stop the procedure. After being sedated and wanting to have the biopsy done, I decided to go ahead, even with some apprehension about how he would perform the biopsy in his defensive and defiant state. Kat scheduled an appointment to review the biopsy results the following Tuesday. She called Monday and said results were not in. A new appointment was set for Thursday morning. I showed up first thing and was told no results were available. She said Dr. Harper was scheduled to leave town for another 6 week vacation, and it might not be until October 11 before I received my test results. Dr. Harper was in the office that morning and told me he would personally call me as soon as the results came in after tracking them down that morning. 24 hours passed with no call. After follow up with Kat, Dr. Harper finally called me with a negative test result. 11 days to get a test result from a lab in Aurora! When I received the bill for the biopsy, it was $320! I have to say, Kat, his front desk assistant, tried to be very accommodating and comforting throughout my unfortunate experience. Her compassion vs. Dr. Harper's coldness, defensiveness and dismissiveness was a stark contrast. In addition, I also witnessed Dr. Harper's use of profanity and foul language. This is not the kind of professional I would care to do business with at any future date. The entire experience was very unprofessional, rude, stressful, humiliating and unfortunate. I truly hope no one else has to ever go through this with Dr. Harper.

Yesterday after a cleaning Dr. Lopez came in for a quick look and saw that my two upper front teeth…read morewere badly damaged from misaligned lower front teeth. He had a recommendation for a fix (filling the indentions made by the bottom teeth to cover the now exposed dentin. BUT he said unless we move those bottom teeth out a little so that they no longer OCCLUDE with the top front teeth...the repair would be damaged and the result could be more enamel breaking off and more crack in the teeth and even a potential of losing both of my front teeth! YIKES...His recommendation was for Invisalign on just the lower test and that the process should take about 6 months...it was a daunting revelation for me not just for the annoyance of having something in my mouth for 6 months and having to be so careful to remove them to eat and then clean my mouth and teeth of all food residue before reinstalling them and making sure to wear them for a full 22 hours a day...SHEESH! And then there's the cost. I'm 76 and living on social security so a $3800 output (DELTA DENTAL DID NOT COVER THIS!) really worried me. Today I called the office and had a wonderful conversation with Raquel (Not sure how it's spelled). She went over the costs and the possible issues I might have and assured me that SHOULD the process take 6 months they would bill me monthly until the last treatment and not require full payment up front. ALSO it would include everything...the trays...the visits, photos and even the retainer at the end of the process. She also confirmed that Dr. Lopez has done DOZENS of Invisalign cases and currently has about 40 patients WEARING Invisalign trays now and he's very experienced. Raquel spent almost 20 minutes of a very busy time of her day making sure that all my questions and concerns were addressed in the most kind and pleasant manner. Dr. Lopez if you ever read this review please accept my gratitude for hiring people like Raquel who never make your patients feel like they're a bother or like we're asking dumb questions. She's so kind and knowledgeable. I told her that I wish I could thank her mom for raising such a wonderful human being. I'm still not THRILLED at the thought of the upcoming 6 month journey through the invisalign world but it beats braces and while it's not cheap, I know I can find the way to cover the costs. There are always things I can cancel or cut back on for 6 months until the procedure is fully paid for.

Jose and team are the best. Exceptional, caring and honest. I highly recommend from everything…read moreroutine cleanings to advanced cosmetics.
