This school contains many stellar educators. However, the administrative functions are…read moredisorganized, capricious, incompetent and outright disrespectful to their teachers and parents. We had a child in their preschool program. Enrollment was complete chaos: they promised us space in the after care program, assured us there would be plenty, then forgot to add our name to an email list serv for families so we never received the email asking to register. We had to beg and plead for a spot for extended day so that I could continue full time at my work. Their emails to families never come from one person, sometimes it's the head of school, sometimes the CEO, sometimes the librarian. It makes it so confusing and to this day my husband is still not receiving emails that I do, and vice versa, seemingly randomly. During our year of enrollment the preschool encountered numerous challenges and communication to parents was abysmal. Our classroom flooded and randomly had to be closed for more than a week. There were issues with the "lunch program" which is I guess adequate calorie wise, but truly pitiful. Many staff and families feel that the admin leadership, Director of School to be specific, sees the PFA program as a cash cow, but does very little to improve or support the preschool division. (And there's a question about whether they really are in compliance with all of PFA mandates). Half of the enrollment at this school is the preschool. Our beloved teacher raised many concerns with their leadership team and was ultimately fired for being a squeaky wheel, and she was literally the only reason we could recommend this place. After this school year none of the families I know will re enroll and many of the preschool staff are planning on quitting. All that said, I believe that TM has the ability to reform and I sincerely hope they do, because I believe that the educators have skills and experience and the grounds of the school are incredible.

We have had children enrolled in Cornerstone (CCA) for the last 18 years. Until about ten years ago, the school was under the headship of Crossroads Community Church. The school had a healthy "family" feel whether talking with teachers, walking into the office, or strolling through campus. Biblical principles were integrated into the curriculum, and overall, students were respectful and well-behaved both in and out of the classroom. When CCA and Crossroads Community Church opted to part ways, we became acutely aware of a shift in culture as the school walked through ongoing changes in location, staff, and leadership. In our personal experience, the "family feel" and overall healthy culture has steadily degraded over the last several years. Our children have described a decline in the amount of Biblical integration occurring in the classroom and the amount of disrespectful and inappropriate behaviors that they have been exposed to on a daily basis in the classroom caused them to feel very uncomfortable and unsafe. Over the last school year, it became evident that specific threats to student safety, destruction of school property, and severe bullying amongst students seem to be handled internally without the involvement of law enforcement or communication with teachers or parents. In discussions about this, we were advised that threats of violence are pretty commonplace nowadays in the public school arena. My question is - should we not expect more when choosing to have our children educated in a Christ-centered environment? I appreciate the vision of current leadership at CCA. I think that their hearts for children and their desire to serve the Lord are genuine. However, from our family's personal experience, their vision and hope for what CCA should be is not what is being experienced where the "boots hit the ground" in the classroom.

Mountain View High School suffers from a serious lack of professionalism among its teachers, deans,…read moreand principal. Instead of fostering a respectful and supportive environment, many staff members handle issues poorly, dismiss student concerns, and fail to address real problems like bullying and fights. Teachers sometimes act unprofessionally by showing favoritism, enforcing rules inconsistently, or treating students disrespectfully. The dean and principal, especially Mr. Antony, seem more focused on strict and unnecessary policies--like the harsh phone rules--rather than actually improving the school environment. Their lack of leadership and failure to take student safety and well-being seriously make it clear that Mountain View is not being run the way a school should be.

Here is why my rating is so low. when i signed up for this school I was misinformed about it being a Montessori school. I saw the teacher interact with the kids and be nice or playful with them during the small window of parent pick up. I believe these people are good people, they are just old school and set in their ways. the woman has a long history in the education system and feels that she knows everything and if you want to try and talk to her she will get defensive and rude and talk over you. no matter how many kids are around watching the scene. they have more kids than they can take care of and teach. a couple weeks ago I picked up my son and found this little boy with his pants down, exposing his penis, instead of getting up to help this boy who couldnt do it on his own, she encouraged him to do it on his own. she was too LAZY to stand up. I wrote them a letter about my concern because at home we build our son up and talk to him about independence while also explaining that our privates are only for us and we dont show them to our friends. they were very rude back to me after I wrote the letter. they got defensive and gave me every excuse in the book about why it happened. today I went in just to sit in on the class. I figured maybe I was over reacting and once I sat in on their MONTESSORI class I would feel better because I would see how nurturing they are and how they acknowledge each childs feelings and needs.. I was so wrong! what I saw today was so sad. teacher Mary sat on the floor of the kitchen area and made kids count eggs, she included them even if they were doing something else. she would say "get me that basket, pick up those toys" my favorite was when one of the little girls took something from another. the teacher sighed very loudly and said " did you just take that from her? you need to stop, thats so rude" thats how that situation was handled and so many others. she talked over top of the kids while some kids sat in a different area not even noticed. on the other side of the room was bill doing a teacher guided writing activity. there was an extreme lack of respect for the kids. more of a "my way of highway" attitude. this one boy wasnt listening and he got loud and said "you need to write you a's NOW" I had heard enough at that point I started writing a list to myself so I could go home and talk to my husband about my concerns so we could make our next move. teacher Mary stood up and said " you have more complaints???" I told her I had a few and before she ever let me talk she started accusing me or things and being horrible. she was talking over me in front of the whole class, she told me i just needed to get out and I was being disrespectful. I complained, how am I suppose to talk to you guys about anything when there clearly isnt an open door policy" at that point I was crying and she just kept telling me to take my kid and leave.. teacher Bill took me into the other room to try and have a conversation with me. explained that they dont have the money and they are trying to do their best (which I believe is true) but they just have too many kids and are too old to have 8-10 kids in there and be able to teach them using the MONTESSORI way. i explained my concerns about talking over children and he had an excuse for everything. I put my child into preschool so he could have the same respect from his teachers and peers that he gets at home and there is no way those teachers are going to belittle me in front of children and claim to give those kiddos respect. he explained over and over that they arent perfect and i just kept talking about consistency, they are a normal structured teacher led preschool. DONT LET THE NAME FOOL YOU. honestly even if I wasnt looking for MONTESSORI I wouldnt recommend taking your child there! terrible experience. my son told me weeks ago he wanted to change schools because the teachers were sometimes mean. they dont understand what it means to respect kids and acknowledge feelings because for whatever reason they think they know it all and are too old school to change their ways.. save yourself the time and money and your little child the heartache and find yourself a different preschool home! Good luck!
