I go to this school and to be honest, I was a bit sad before I actually arrived because everyone told me it would suck to go here. They were painfully wrong and it's awful how much of a bad rap this school gets. I have great friends, and the school has amazing teachers and phenomenal education. 10/10, would recommend! read more

It's a good school I'm currently in my last year of middle school and went here last year as COVID was happening, there are some amazing teachers here but a lot of mean ones but they don't bother you much. The 7th grade last year was a bit rude to the teachers and made the Spanish teacher and art teacher quit their jobs, I can say this school is one million times better than Mac or lee. The sports teams are nice and competitive but not in a rude way. They have assistance for special educational students and the orchestra/band/choir go on field trips to preform for the elementary schools and the theater goes to show cases and such. I rate the school good but some is bad, ifyky. read more

If you want your kid to fail in life - then have them register to go to this school. The worst school we have ever set foot into. Bad management of students, not responsible for their shoddy practices and the school is what we call "A BULLY MACHINE" Bully behavior to the teachers, and substitute teachers have been known to walk away crying and literally almost ahvein g a nervous breakdown. NO support from the top - principal or ass- sistant principal. Kids are wild animals running through the halls, loud and terrible in the classes so that the serious on task students are left behind and are guaranteed to fail. IF YOU WANT your kids to fail in school and life - then send them here. A MINUS 1000. read more

The staff goes above and beyond to help students. They will meet with incoming students to help them feel more comfortable with the transition. Staff is knowledgeable and understanding of each child's needs. There are many opportunities for involvement outside of just academics. read more

Two of my four children have gone to this school and I have to say I am tired of fighting to keep my kids in school. The faculty are very quick to rid themselves of any child that disagrees with them and/or is not a model student. Both of my students were suspended multiple times for sometimes trivial issues. (In one instance it was a 3 day suspension for cursing? Really?!) One child I took out of the school for a year and homeschooled because they thought my child was such a problem. That child went back to Discovery this year with the instructions from me to keep the mouth shut no matter what, don't volunteer answers and just make it through the year. That child was not suspended even once this year, but the other child was expelled, then let back in just to be expelled again for good. I will be homeschooling again apparently because Discovery Middle School doesn't have the time to find out the causes of outbursts, they just suspend and expel those children that are to hard to figure out. On a side note, I was informed by the district that if I enroll my child in counseling at my expense, then they would consider letting that child back in school. Really?! I am pretty positive that the district is obligated to educate my child and that they are getting funding for my honor student being enrolled there. (Even if that child is sent home for a total of 30+ days this school year.) read more

It's not a dog park. Whether dog owners agree or not, there is a large population of society that has a fear of dogs. Children and their parents should be able to play on a playground without fear of an off-leash dog running in their direction. There is a reason we still have leash laws in Oregon, which I find more and more people breaking every time I go to a neighborhood park or walk my own dog down the street on his leash. Please do not use Ockley Green as your local dog-park. It is a place where children should feel welcome and safe any time of day; whether school is in or not.

I liked that we could stand on the non-dirt track to watch the game, I didn't have to worry about getting all muddy in the unpredictable Oregon weather. I also love the snack shack - I haven't been to one since I was in high school. Now, it would have been nice if my nephew's team had won, but he had a great time playing.

there are LOTS of fights always braking out at discovery Middle School.But most students are really nice and kind so if you go to discovery please make friends with the right kids.Coming from a 7th grader at discovery Middle School take my advise stay out of drama don't talk crap behind peoples back because they will find out and beat you up. and finally make friends with people who will treat you with respect and make sure to pay attention in class and don't be late because this school is really strict with tardy policy's if you are late to a certain class more than once you WILL get ridden up and have lunch detention and don't talk back to teachers and you can get more than one lunch detention or even a after school detention.Stay safe at discovery if you go and if you have a kid that is going this year or next if your kid ever bumps into me or becomes friends with me I want you to know that they are safe with me and I will help them around the school if needed if you are thinking of signing up your kid for this school and you have any questions you can email me and I can tell you more about the school if needed my email is 200659@student.vansd.org I am open to email you back to any questions you have.Thank you for your time of reading my review. read more

I go there and am finishing up my last year I'm loud and rude but what 14-15 year old isn't ok.
