I sent an e-mail and finally got a response from Sandy. When I arrived for my first class, Sandy was blatantly "measuring me up" and making me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. She was more concerned if I was going to continue with a regular membership or only use the Groupon for 3 classes. Her demeanor was cold, condescending and indifferent, and she made me feel uncomfortable. I was trying to be inviting and light hearted, but her responses were sterile and demeaning. At the end of class she asked for payment and stated, in a "Holier-than-thou" manner, that she had never used Groupon before. I have never before felt so humiliated by someone who works in the service industry. I am Puerto Rican woman and she exhibited every trait of a racist individual. If you are a "Non-White", I would advise you stay away from here.

I asked one politely to please go outside to the lobby which she did. I asked another politely and she just laughed at me and kept it up for another 20 minutes. I'd had enough and raised my voice to tell her to please take it outside. So one of the front desk people came in and told me my behavior was unacceptable and made them the victim! I was told they allow people to talk on their phones! She was a young girl as were the phone talkers and I'm just an old codger causing trouble. This is so rude. Talking on a cell phone while on a treadmill presents notable safety risks, reduces workout intensity, and breaches standard gym etiquette. Research indicates that conversing on a phone negatively impacts your balance by 19% and significantly lowers your average heart rate and treadmill speed. Loss of Balance: Multitasking divides your attention, causing you to fall out of sync with the machine and significantly increasing the likelihood of tripping or falling. Not sure if something is going on just at this location, but I was ready to sign up after yet the person working at the front informed me that there are usually promotions going on and that I should wait until another one happens to save a little (which I appreciate) but there has been no follow up from the location. I was so glad the gym didn't close down & allowed its members to come back (w/ some restrictions). I think back to the ladies that joined me during that time - so many of us needed the gym to feel normal when the world was out of control. Perhaps that is why I stayed as long as I have... I was never much of a gym rat and I wasn't so sure about this place at first - is it going to be just another gym? But it slowly grew on me and became my daily norm. Not going to lie, I LOATHE working out! I tell many people the same! That said, I DO enjoy the small group setting, the 30 minutes HIIT workouts & all of the women that I have had the pleasure of crossing paths with over the years. I didn't meet my best friend/soulmate or anything like that...but I did find a group of women similar to myself...looking for an opportunity improve health, stay active & fit and enjoy a few laughs & snorts along the way! We love New Life Fitness. My husband has been going to the gym about 6 days a week for 6 years…read morenow. New Life has all the equipment that meets his needs and challenges him. On the other hand, as a mom of young children I have approached gyms with a little more timidity. The classes make my time in the gym fly quickly, increase my strength, and have helped me gain knowledge and confidence of the weight machines. My kids look forward to seeing Loraine and Amanda in the childcare area and I love that I can focus on my workout knowing they are well cared for by these sweet ladies. It is obvious that, Lori, the owner cares for her community and worked passionately to help those affected by Harvey. She is constantly on the lookout to make improvements keeping the gym inviting and up to date. New Life Fitness is a great gym for all fitness levels. It is welcoming rather than intimidating. As a result, I have moved from just cardio machines to being comfortable around the whole gym.
