Stopped in to eat here after sightseeing around town. Had the liver dumpling soup which was delicious. It came as one giant dumpling in a consomme soup. It hit the spot on this could winter day. Best liver dumpling soup I've ever had.

Private bathroom was a big plus which we take it for granted in US. I'd rather pay a little extra for a room to have a private bathroom for our comfort. There was a balcony with seating for two with a view of mountains. We could hear folks having a good time from the nearby biergarten/restaurant, but it all died down around 22:00. For some reason, it was rather quiet on Saturday and Sunday nights. The church (St. Peter und Paul two blocks away) bell rang throughout the night, but it was more soothing than nuisance for me. Breakfast was excellent in typical Bavarian fashion like freshly baked rolls, meat and cheese plate (photo). You can help yourself to müsli, fresh fruit cups, yogurt, muffins (sweet) besides that. Breakfast lady asks you and will make you eggs and bacon if you want (photo). Staff were very pleasant, courteous and accommodating. I believe it was a family-owned and operated pension--very nice folks. There was a three-generation family photo from 2010 Passion Play. I understood they will participate again in 2022. The only thing lacking at this hotel was a restaurant, so we went into town for meals beyond breakfast. No problem. Because of its central location in Oberammergau, you can walk to most of the attractions/restaurants/shops in town. It's very convenient. Limited free parking is available which makes it very convenient.

Although it was a bit out of our way to stay in Oberammergau, we were so glad we did. Such fun just to walk around the town and look at all the shops, restaurants, etc. Wish we had more time to have enjoyed more of the amenities of the guesthouse and the town.

Petra welcomed us warmly as we checked in and showed us to our room. Our room was very spacious, comfortable and quiet suite. It provided us an excellent sleep quality with very comfortable queen-sized bed. Bathroom was a little tight, but I can't really complain about it because it's private (you cannot take it for granted in Europe for sure). Free private parking, free wifi, and free breakfast. We enjoyed a very decent breakfast buffet (photos, currently being served cafeteria style. It probably will go back to what it was (self serve) once we're done with this COVID pandemic. One could always hope.) Great location with only four-minute short walk to the town center with shops, restaurants and attractions. It's also right next to the train/bus station for your convenience.

The hotel is within short walking distance of downtown (many restaurants and shops). But with its own beer garden it's hard to find a reason to leave. Great for families as well, this hotel has a very nice play area for children. And the trails along the river or up the mountains are another big plus to this location.

For starters - there is NO air conditioning or air flow at all in the rooms. That would be fine with floor fans or ceiling fans. However this wasn't available either. We were with a tour group and we did not have any fans in our room. Everyone in the group complained at how hot and stuffy it was on the 2nd floor (in mid-July). Some additional floor or small desk fans would be a small investment for the hotel to make to ensure their guests have a decent night sleep. In addition - there is body wash in the shower but no shampoo. Why no shampoo? Makes no sense. Also this was the first hotel on our tour that charged for water in the rooms - other hotels did not. All the rooms are different shapes - some rooms have balconies, some don't. Some have a toilet IN the shower, some don't. But you pay the same price. Avoid room 222 at all costs - it is super small and cramped. Finally there is no real amenities at all including no gym/workout area and no coffee maker in the room so you have to wait until past 6:30 am when breakfast starts to get coffee. The area is beautiful and the hotel itself is cute but the rooms are just not good at all.

I immediately fell asleep every night that I hit the bed. Breakfast was included with the stay. The selection was mostly packaged pastries and charcuterie, and lots of sweets that I normally associated with dessert (macarons, chocolate brownies, truffles, etc.) Is it customary to have dessert for breakfast in Bavaria? They did make fresh scrambled eggs upon request, but I wished there were more savory items. The chopped fruit cups contained a large variety of fruit -- those were my favorite. The staff was very sweet and helpful. There were only a few of them, but they cross-covered everything from reception to cooking to cleaning. They gave us a map of town and marked all the interesting spots to get us oriented. The hospitality was refreshing and made us feel welcomed in this cute little town.

If I come back to Oberammergau, I will for sure stay at the Hotel Antonia again!
