My room at Hotel Vilamari was clean and roomy, and simply but pleasantly appointed. The marble bathroom and glass sink basin were nice touches. The shower worked great. The wifi wasn't bad. The room had a TV with good picture. It covers everything you need in a hotel room. The lobby is also pleasant, and is given a nice fragrance that's not overpowering.
What sets the hotel apart: 1) Excellent front desk service. They were friendly, helpful, and quick to provide good information about where to go and how to get around Barcelona. 2) Convenient location. While the hotel isn't directly in a shopping district, the gothic quarter, or anything like that, it's located close enough to the heart of things that someone up for long walks could walk to all of the main Barcelona sites, it's very close to several major bus lines and is an easy walk from metro. It's also easily walkable from the Aerobus, making it easy to get to and from the airport. It strikes a great balance, being at once fairly quiet and yet convenient to most things.
Minor negatives: While the breakfast spread isn't bad, it's a few euros more expensive than seems reasonable. The mattresses are just OK. The transparent (not frosted or anything) glass bathroom door with no door jam much less lock, might make things weird for people who are sharing a room but who would like some bathroom privacy.
Overall, clean and convenient with good service. read more
