Overall, a decent hotel, but I would not stay here again unless I had to. I stayed in a one bedroom apartment with my husband and three children (6, 2, & 10m). The room had a kitchenette with two hot plates for cooking. However, the cooking utensils and pots/pans were less than adequate. The pans were too big for the burners so only one item could be cooked at a time. Minor inconvenience but when cooking for 5 people dinner takes twice as long. Also, there are no sharp knives for cutting, no spatula for flipping, and only one wooden spoon for stirring. Luckily, there was a store in the shopping mall next door where I picked up a few inexpensive utensils that I needed. There is a restaurant in the hotel. It has good food. Try the house special, rolled pizza. We didn't eat there much because it was rarely open on time and some days wasn't open at all even when the hours posted indicated that it should have been open. Italians don't seem to be very punctual in general, which is fine, but when you have small children that need to be fed, their 'siesta' time gets old fast.
Because we were an extended stay, our room was supposed to be cleaned twice a week. However, the room had to be vacated in order for this to happen. If we were in the room on the day meant for cleaning, it didn't get done, and if I didn't tell the front desk when we were going to be gone, the housekeepers never came back to clean the room or change out the linens and towels on subsequent days.
Breakfast was included and was typical for Europe. Lots of pastries, bread, cereal, cold cuts, cheese, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, granola, fresh fruit, grape tomatoes, cucumber, olives, pickled veggies, juice, coffee, hot tea, water, and milk. Occasionally, there were hot dog type sausages or bacon and scrambled egg patty things, but they were hit or miss. I think it was because there were so many Americans staying there and that is what Americans like, so that stuff went fast and wasn't replaced when gone.
Wifi was free and did not require a password, which was convenient. However, it was very slow and often times did not work. Especially during peak times, i.e. Evening.
A laundry room was available at the cost of 4€ to wash and 3€ to dry which equates to about $10 per load. Very expensive, imo. Plus, you cannot use your own soap as the washers are pre filled somehow. The soap is highly fragrant and not good for sensitive skin. Only one iron in the hotel for everyone. It is in the laundry room.
Apartment rooms have only one key with a very heavy key chain that has the room number on it. However, the front desk has a spare if you get locked out for any reason.
Lastly, most of the staff is friendly, helpful, and speaks English. Very helpful when if you are just learning Italian. There was one woman, specifically, who would ignore an American and help other guests first even if they arrived after the American and especially if the other guests were Italian. I personally witnessed this on several occasions as it happened to my husband and me at different times. I also over heard her blaming "all of the Americans" for the hotels lack of space available. One would think that a business would be grateful for being full and bringing in money no matter who it was from.
As I said before, overall a decent hotel but I would not rate it a 4 as it claims. The minor inconveniences don't seem like much but they do add up, and having an employee complaining about guests, albeit in Italian or any other language to other guests and in front of guests, is highly unprofessional. read more
