We had booked a 7 days stay at Valparaíso. On the booking site, it said child friendly, which was important to us, as we brought our 3 year old and was to celebrate her 4 years at the hotel.
When traveling abroad, out toddler always sleeps in our bed. However, when arriving at the hotel, they wanted to charge a 80 euro extra fee per night for the toddler for an extra bed. I refused the extra bed, but they said it was mandatory. I wrote to the manager, but he did not answer my mails or calls before after I left the hotel. At the check-out, I was charged with 60 euro per night for my toddler. This was only for the bed, there were no food involved. I have been mailing back and forth with the hotel since, and they've offered us an upgrade as compensation for our next stay - which will be absolutely never.
When getting to our room after check-in, the room had not been cleaned. The bed was unmade and bottles and beer cans was all over the room. I'm sorry, that the review will not able me to post pictures. We went back to the front desk, and was told to come back in a few hours.
Further, the kid friendly property does not allow children in the indoor pool area (we were there in February) outside of from 10 am to 1 pm. Nap time for most toddlers and hardly kid friendly with a 3 hours window.
Basically it felt like traveling in eastern Europe 10 years ago. Bad communication, bad language skills, overload of confusion as response to legitimate criticism. "The manager is not here, we'll get back to you, I don't understand etc. etc."
I travel 60-70 days a year, staying at GHA and Hilton properties. I will never return to this place. read more
