When we arrived, we were shown to the room immediately after a brief introduction to the hotel and city. We were offered any advice we needed as well as access to concierge services gratis. The staff was welcoming and friendly as well. It's very comfortable. The room decor was elegant and the bed was wonderful after a long trip. Coffee and a welcome bottle of Prosecco were also waiting for us. The view is really, truly right on the canal. It's fantastic but surprisingly quiet at night, likely due to the excellent windows We took the water taxi to the San Marco Square then walked back and it was about a 30 minute walk with beautiful shops and restaurants almost the entire way. Final note, the breakfast was a very good value with a diverse selection and excellent coffee. We recommend this hotel wholeheartedly.

They have excellent front desk people. Alvise was great in answering questions, always smiling and very good in guiding us places to eat, catch water bus, gondola service etc. We reached an hour early and lucky to get a room. Checked in without any issues and went to get some good and sightseeing. Rooms are maintained well. We had a queen bed , with 2 additional twin beds. The wifi is great in the hotel rooms. The shower had nice flow and very spacious bathrooms. Everything is maintained really well. We had a situation with Ac and the staff at night time cane and assisted us out. The breakfast was fabulous best so far we had in hotels. It was a grand buffet. The luggage storage rooms came handy, and we enjoyed the stay and will definitely consider it again.

It's official! My favorite city so far in Italy was Venice! Despite all the horror stories about…read morethe flooding, I was happy to still have the chance to visit this city while I was in Italy. During my recent stay in Venice, I reserved the Hotel Abbazia as it was one of the best locations near the Santa Lucia Railway Station. Literally, the hotel was 700 ft from the station, down an alleyway as I passed several restaurants; you can't beat the convenience and the price! For a budget hotel, this was a simple and decent stay--the room offers a small flat-screen TV, iron board and hairdryer, mini-refrigerator and air conditioner, and a hard ol' mattress queen bed, not the most comfortable bed but it was doable for the time that I spent there. The only thing it didn't offer was a damn elevator; BOO! Good thing for friends because my homegirl and her boyfriend were able to take my heavy ass suitcase up to the second floor or else a sista' would have been struggling! The hallways to the bedrooms were this sexy red lighting that automatically came on when it sensed any movement. I liked it but I sensed that my friends thought it was pretty creepy. The hotel offers a beautiful elegant dining/bar area with a gorgeous chandelier. This is also where free breakfast is served in the morning. I hear breakfast offered an array of different pastries and fruit. If you have time to eat breakfast, I would give it a shot. Make sure you also check out the back-garden seating area. It's perfect for enjoying your breakfast in the morning or coming out to get some fresh air. The staff during the evening was nice, however, I felt that the gentleman became irritated with me as the bedroom door had slammed shut on me as I was walking my friends out of my bedroom, and it just so happened that I had left my keys in the room. Also, just like similar hotels in Italy, the air conditioners turn off after a certain time, making these rooms stuffy. The only option I had was to open the window; UGH. The rooms are quiet, I couldn't hear my neighbors at all. The bathroom was super small, and the showers were not the best. The water temperature only provided cold water; BOO! You can tell the facility is a little outdated and needs some TLC. Within the area alone, there are varies different restaurants. Once you walk out of the hotel, you are right in front of all the activities. You can take a Water Boat to any side of Venice, or you can do what I did and just walk the whole City as its pretty doable to do in 8 hours. There are also bars all throughout the area, making for a great night. If you are looking for more of a convenient hotel near the station and close to many of the landmarks in Venice, I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are staying for less than 2 nights. P.S-If you are planning to leave your luggage at this hotel as you roam the Venice area, please note that this hotel doesn't lock the door to the luggage room. Make sure you take your valuables with you.

Our suite was very spacious and had a separate parlor. They arranged our airport transfers, gave us recommendations for lunch and dinner, gave us ideas to go sightseeing (been to Venice before). I could not have asked for more. I will say, it's not the easiest to get to from the bus station: 1 people mover, a porter to carry bags over 2 bridges. Might have been easier to get to from train station but, live and learn. The lady who met us at the desk and appeared to be here every minute of the day, Francesca was amazing. My husband and I fell in love with this hotel. The customer service is superb, charming and attentive and thoughtful. The concierge offered to upgrade our room and im glad we did! our room had that little tiny balcony and it was just marvelous and overlooking the Grand Canal. The room was opulent looking, heavy drapes adorn the balcony windows and accented by antique victorian chairs. Tiny chandeliers hung in the bathroom mirror and of course a big one in our junior suite. There was a tv and a mini bar with tea service and coffee as well. I was regretting not staying another night. I will definitely book again when we come back.

Walking distance from everything you want in Venice. They gave us a free bottle of Bellini when we checked in. Great breakfast buffet right on the water, that was included with our room for being Marriott elite members. This has to be one of the nicest best hotels in Venice. The only somewhat downside is that because this is such a nice hotel, room service and the food options at the hotel are completely overpriced. Absolutely excellent stay at Palazzo Paruta Apartments!…read more The apartment with a terrace was exceptionally clean, and had all our basic needs. It was on a quiet street (the whole area is mostly quiet) and a ~7min walk to the more bustling areas of Venice. We loved it! I would recommend this property & would definitely stay here again! The staff was also super kind and helpful (directions, recommendations, etc). Some other tips: From the airport we took a water taxi for 15€ each and it took 45 min to get the S'Angelo stop which was then a ~7 minute walk to the lobby! Be mindful there are stairs you must walk up & down (like in most of Venice). You can also get to the Santa Lucia train station from the S'Angelo stop in about 35 minutes! Take the 1 line towards Rialto. ask if you need help at the stop, captains were very friendly! Overall, during our 3 day stay we walked pretty much everywhere! I would 100% recommend this property and hope to come again!!

We did not have the apartment that everyone else has raved about. We got a cramped room on the first floor that smelled strongly of mildew. Our allergies were out of control. The room had a large bed and a tiny desk with a mini fridge hidden inside. The fridge would get incredibly hot in that tiny cabinet. There was no where to put our luggage, as the top of the desk was barely big enough to support the carry on. We were able to check in early, and went out to grab a snack. When we came back, maybe an hour later, the maid had been in our room and opened the windows. Besides being a safety concern, this let in a swarm of mosquitos that we battled for our entire stay. Each time we left, the AC would turn completely off and we would come back to a hot box swamp. I'm adding a star for the breakfast, which was out of this world. By far, it was the best breakfast we had in Italy, with countless options.

This place had reasonably good rate compared to others so I booked it with fingers crossed. Very happy with this decision. The hotel is very modern and clean. We arrived very early in the morning but they held our bags for us and delivered them to the room before we got back mid-afternoon. There was cold lemon water in the lobby which was refreshing after walking in the hot weather. The tub was so deep! A bit scary getting in and out -- not good for anyone with mobility issues. Great for soaking! We only stayed a night and didn't try the buffet. Opted for light breakfast at the place a few doors north of the hotel. I had emailed the hotel before our arrival about a restaurant to go to for our anniversary and they responded quickly with a few, each with a paragraph explaining why they recommended it. A day or two before arrival, they asked if I needed anything else like flowers or any other special requests. We did try Casa Bonita across the canal and that was wonderful. Air conditioning was wonderful on the hot and humid day. We liked the quieter neighborhood and proximity to the boat stop. Local travel on the vaparetto and then the Alilaguna to the airport. I forgot to take photos of the interior.
