It's right in the heart of Eppingen and just a couple of minutes walking distance from the train station, so it's very convenient. The rooms are cozy and comfortable, and there is a good work space. I found that the Wi-Fi connection worked well. An excellent breakfast was included. The owner is very friendly and helpful. I also had dinner in the attached restaurant and the food was sehr güt!

When we arrived, the woman at reception was not comfortable speaking English but between her English and our German, we muddled through it. Our room was two flights up. There is no elevator in this hotel. I believe there is one room on the ground floor but if you cannot climb stairs, contact the hotel to verify and reserve. We received a room key, and a key to the exterior door. The rest of our visit a gentleman manned reception and he speaks English better. The staircase is stone which creates an echo with each step. Each floor has a glass door separating the rooms from the staircase. Our room was right inside this door. At the bottom of the staircase is a refrigerator 'honor bar' with soda, beer and water. Just let reception know what you have purchased. The room has plenty of space and a large window over looking the parking area with both sheers and black out curtains. It snowed while we were in Speyer and this large window gave us a lovely view of the snow falling. A 3/4 private bathroom with big, absorbent towels en suite. There are two towel hooks and a small shelf over the sink for personal care items. Combination shower gel/shampoo is in a multi-use container mounted inside the shower and hand soap in a wall mounted wall dispenser by the sink by the hand towel rack. A good size closet with hangers, a safe and extra blankets is next to the desk area and TV. One chair is located at the desk and a second by the window. I really appreciate rooms that provide a chair for us both! The double bed was quite comfortable with a comforter/duvet for each guest. Outlets (220v) are located on both sides of the bed at small bedside tables and at the desk. Wifi is included. On one of our three day stay the wifi kept cutting out and I would go into the stairwell to reconnect; the rest of the visit it was fine. Rooms are warm and cleaned daily. Breakfast is offered during specific morning hours. If you would like a hard or soft boiled egg, ask at reception and they will cook you one. A variety of coffees are available from a machine and are tasty. Cappuccino, espresso, café latte, etc. Juices, water, cereal, breads, jams, cold cuts, cheeses, fresh veg and teas are also available. The breakfast room is bright and was pre-set for the parties in house: a two person table for us, a four person table for a family of four and so on. Parking is free on site. If the gate is closed, you can easily roll the gate open. Just be sure to close it behind you. A pedestrian gate locks behind you. We didn't have a key to the gate but could easily get our fingers through the grate and open it using the handle inside. Walk downtown in three minutes: turn right, cross the road and follow the alley straight to Maximilianstrasse. Here you will find the Old Portal to the left and the Cathedral to the right. There are some very good restaurants in the area away from Maximilianstrasse and a few churches worth visiting around town plus museums. We would stay at Trutzpfaff Hotel garni again. Clean rooms, plenty of space, pleasant staff, walking distance to many local attractions, breakfast, wifi and parking. All good reasons to stay.

Definitely the worst hotel I have been to in years. First, I arrived and wanted to park my car in…read moretheir garage. It took ten minutes until someone from the reception responded and opened the gate. The entry was so narrow I was really scared - only to learn that all parking spots were taken. As even the driveway to the hotel was filled with cars, I had to remotely park on the street and take a five-minute walk (with all my luggage). Then, the attitude of the receptionist was less than acceptable. Unfortunately, they had problems with the company credit card I had given to secure (on-site the very same card just worked fine ;-) Then, we had to cancel a few rooms as we had a death of a team's family member. I was told I have to pay one room anyway. Then I learned that the rooms do not have a proper bathroom. The bathroom is somewhat open to the hotel room. As we have team members sharing, I would have never booked the rooms. Now, we had one "mixed couple" sharing a room, and I thought it would be particularly wrong to put both of them in such a room and asked for the room I had to pay for anyway. I was told that the hotel is sold out. I had reported the incident to Artist Travel Service - and the hotel manager responded I was lying (of course I have two witnesses). So the hotel is charging me for a room that they sold? Finally, my wife and I shared a room and had only one towel in the bathroom. When telling the receptionist, I was told it is house practice, and I was more than welcome to dress again and come down to reception and get a second one. I work for the worlds' #1 largest entertainment company and we book more than 300,000 rooms per year. I have given notice that we will put the hotel on a list that we will never put any of our artists or crew there.
