Hotel San Ranieri is located away from the center of Pisa. A taxi ride to the Field of Dreams to see the Leaning Tower, Baptistry, et al is approx. 15 euros. There is a bus stop just outside the hotel, but I never used it. This hotel would work really well if you had a car, as Pisa is a small city so you can drive to anywhere fairly quickly.
As other reviewers have said, the decor is very modern. Some things I like: power outlets and fold down night stands on either side of the bed, and some things I don't: no shower door (large shower, so the geometry is supposed to keep water from spraying out of the shower, it kind of works). Overall, it is functional.
The included breakfast is fabulous. It's the best breakfast that I've had in Italy. Fruit is ripe and very fresh, baked goods are melt in your mouth, the usual cold cuts, cheese, cereal, and (unusually for Italy) they have eggs and breakfast meats. The eggs are not the typical over cooked rubber scrambled eggs but something creamier, runnier, and much more delicious. Within a short walking distance is also a very good neighborhood restaurant that does everything from take away to fine dining, pizzas, paninis, and full on primi and secondi.
The one thing I dislike about this hotel is that they don't have an ATM, and the hotel staff didn't know of any within walking distance. On the other hand, the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay here. read more
