I stayed here for a business trip a while back. after a nice 10-15 minute walk from the train station, you're at the hotel!
double bed rooms (yeah, I got a double bed room to myself...BALLER STATUS) are pretty big. large bathroom, tons of space to organize your stuff, a radio built into the headboard, and a TV. modest accommodations, but comfortable. the website says they have free Wifi too!
the hotel was clean, and the staff was nice. it's a family-run establishment and they were friendly to us. told me where the town's bar was (first question) and where the pay phones were (second question). priorities, man, priorities.
breakfast was included with our stay. nothing like a big European-style breakfast of cold cuts, cheese, pastries, chocolate, cereal, fruit, and other delicious stuff!
I do recall that the staff would leave around 9-10 PM, and close the main entrance. thus you had to unlock - and remember to lock - the side door when you came back later than that. maybe you were in the bar down the street talking to random Swiss people who kept buying you drinks and you forgot that it was 1 AM and you had to meet your client at 7 for breakfast...oops!
the keys were tack-welded to large keychains featuring the coats-of-arms of various local municipalities and cantons. you could, conceivably, use these as weaponry if you were in trouble, though I doubt there is much trouble in Laufen.
check the website for the room options and pricing. I don't think there are other hotels in this town, and my company picked up the tab anyway, so I guess it is what it is...
if I was in the area, paying my own way, I'd definitely consider lodging here. read more
