I absolutely LOVE the Herculaneum Hotel & Maison, also known as Hotel Herculaneum…read more During covid lockdown I longed for international travel and desperately planned our return to Rome. In 2013 we did a super speedy tour of the Ercalano scavi and for 2023 I was planning a full-day to revisit each of the ruins Herculaneum and Pompeii. Google noticed my interested searches and suggested Herculaneum Hotel & Maison and consistently offered incredible prices. Too good to be true? No, completely TRUE! This hotel was beautiful, clean, easy to get to, convenient, and highly enjoyable. Our room fee included a modest breakfast, room was comfy but not spacious but that is expected in a renovated palazzo and had a well sized and private bathroom with shower and bathtub. Wi-Fi, small fridge, safe and delicious daily breakfast coffee included. Hotel Herculaneum is within walking distance from the train and directly across the street from the nearly 2000 year old Ruins of Herculaneum. We easily hopped on the train to visit Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli (MANN) and the Pompeii ruins. but be prepared to walk up hill with your roll bag or on the way to an Italian adventure via the train. The staff is very nice, helpful, hard working and welcoming. We visited in early September 2023. I would highly recommend the Herculaneum Hotel & Maison.

Very convenience. Parking is about 5 min walk (500 m), 10€ per day. 4 star. * Motif: recently remodeling... so it is pretty cute decor inside. Outside is not so much. Nice dining area. 3+ star. * Serive: excellent. 5 star. This is averaged to 4 star. This place is listed as 3 star hotel on booking.com or other similar sites. It is very convenient if you are visiting Herculaneum because you can just walk over. For the value, it is definitely 4 star. The place is in busy area with pharmacy and local markets next door. We were coming here from our evening flight from Rome... so the area is pretty sketchy at night. In side, it is recently refurbished so rooms are modern and cute with high ceiling and chandelier. However, since it is a old building, every room is tight with small bathroom, standing shower. It is also connected to the next building with a clinic... so, if you need to see a doctor, it is very convenient. The dining area with distant bay view is very clean. There is a designated outdoor smoking area which is also nicely decorated. Breakfast is simple with pastries, freshly baked sfoglatella, ham, fruits, hardboiled eggs, juices, coffee. The staff is very nice. We got in pretty late, 11 PM. They waited for us and helped with our luggages to our room. There is a small lift but not functional. So, you will need to be able to climb stair to stay here. Overall, I would recommend this place if you are visiting Herculaneum.

Solid hotel to stay. We only stayed 1 night, so didn't get to experience it for very long, but…read moreenjoyed our time here. Our room was very spacious. Our previous hotel in Naples, as well as the one we stayed at in Sorrento, didn't have much floor space and we barely had space to open both our suitcases. We had to put at least one on the ground and step over it every time. So I really appreciated that I could walk around normally with both suitcases open. Hotel was clean overall, and location was nice. It was by the water so had a nice view. And there were a bunch of taxis parked next to it so when we had to take an early morning taxi to the airport, it arrived within a minute or so of the hotel "calling for a taxi" (which actually meant someone leaned out the door and waved one of them down). I'd stay here again.

Basic continental breakfast offerings at 20€ / person and 6€ cappuccino when the coffee shop right around the corner was much better and something like 7€ for 2 coffees AND pastries The temp in the rom only had a 4 degree range and it unfortunately was not the range we were seeking so could not get comfortable. And for a 4 star hotel. We would have expected to be able to adjust our own temperature The bathrooms were super cramped when there were both toilet and bidet. The door would not open all the way as it bumped against the toilet and we had to sandwich ourselves in between both to brush our teeth - with the added joy of the backs of our legs constantly bumping against either or both. Zero counter space. Nowhere to place towels for fear of it falling into either commode But given the location and the quiet room, we still have to rank this as A-OK

So, when we booked a summer trip to Italy, there was no question that Pompeii was a must see. Booking a hotel was easy because there's really one property with great reviews and that's Hotel Diana. For 75 Euros a night, the price was just right. Due to some absurd travel delays, we ended up rolling in on the last train of the night from Naples. . . and it, apparently, went to the wrong train station in town. We called the hotel at 11 PM and explained our problem: the train station was now closed, there were no taxis, and we were the only ones there. The front desk clerk called us a taxi, who showed up shortly and gave us a ride. I didn't realize how wrong the wrong train station was until we drove over 20 minutes just to get to the property. For the record, the "right" train station is literally half a block from the hotel. Oops! Make sure you're choochooing into the right place, friends. When we got there, we were checked in promptly and given keys to our room. The room is sort of garishly decorated, but whatever. It was clean, it was a good size, and it had an ice cold ac. The bathroom was a good size and very clean. Despite our late arrival, the front desk agent pointed us to a pizza place down the street that was still open. Can I tell you? Literally the best pizza I have ever had. Phenomenal! And like, half a block from the hotel. Pizzeria Alleria, check them out. So good we went back twice. We slept well, grabbed the free breakfast in the morning (which was fine), and headed to Pompeii. Now, for some reason, I thought the Hotel Diana was right next to Pompeii, but it is not. You've got to walk about 10 minutes, which isn't much. Well, it's supposed to be 10 minutes, but we made a wrong turn and it took us quite a bit longer than it should have. Oops. There also seemed to be a rather happening hot spot right down the street from the hotel, so if that's your thing, that's a plus. Check out was easy and they helped us figure out the train schedule, which was much appreciated. All in all, I would definitely suggest Hotel Diana. It's got a great location, friendly staff, and great pricing.

All finishing are in an updated modern style with polished stone floor and walls, as well as blonde woods. Breakfast included. Very nice. Staff attentive and helpful. Very easy access to the Pompeii ruins. Many shops and restaurant on the street within easy walking distance of the hotel lobby. Good WiFi too. Highly recommend you check out the Hotel Forum if stay in Pompeii Couldn't post a separate review for the restaurant, so here goes. We ate in the outdoor seating area in the outdoor lobby. Food was ultra fresh and tasty. First night we shared the "Mediterranean platter. Caprese with prosciutto and melon. Very ample portions. We enjoyed the experience so much we ate dinner there our second night. We shared a ceasar salad and a margarita pizza. Very fresh and tasty, again with ample portions. Included breakfast in the downstairs inside seating area was of ample varieties of traditional breakfast fair and yummy pastries. Breakfast served from 7:30-10:30am allowing time for those sleeping in.

Lots of restaurants near by and even a nice grocery store. In the evening they offer a happy hour with snacks as well. There is a beautiful dining area in the lemon garden, weather permitting. Lots of lemon trees on the property. The only negative thing is the internet and phone reception it is very poor.
