As other reviews have pointed out... this is definitely a 'budget hotel' (just look and feel those 'prison cots' my kids had to use as their beds for two nights!).
The place was clean (although the main hallway - shared with actual tenants/businesses - reeked of cigarette smoke).
Our room was clean.
The bathroom seemed new.
No frills or thrills (unless the bidet counts?!).
Just a stone's throw from the Pantheon, across the street from a Michelin-starred restaurant, this hotel felt 'European' and a bit 'historic'.
Only found out last-minute about local taxes/fees (which, to be fair, was a 'thing' at each place we'd stay throughout our vacation) - but they could only be paid in cash?
Major issues: walls were paper thin and a family right next to us (with a toddler) made sure to have a lively conversation that went on late into the night. And without any type of fan or central air we had to open a window just to get some (cool) air and now it's deafening between the constant traffic (cars and walking tourists), busboys throwing out recycling at some ungodly hour, the polizia in hot pursuit, you name it.
Probably our worst sleep while in Italy.
