This place was magnificent and had amazing sculptures, architecture, relics and a dome. There are different levels of admission as the dome is available and and also the catacombs below. The cathedral alone is a must see. This also displays the Pieta sculpture by Michelangelo. Five stars!

Our tour guide was great and we were able to hear him speak with the headphones they gave us at the beginning of the tour. St. Peter's Basilica is gorgeous! So much history and detail to it. We were lucky to have visited it during the Jubilee year which only happens every 25 years. We were able to walk through the Holy Doors. It was very crowded because of the Jubilee year and in some parts of the tour it was difficult to walk because of the crowds. You can also see St. Peter's tomb and take pictures of it from outside of the glass that is protecting it. I think that even if you're not a religious person it's still worth visiting St. Peter's Basilica for its history.

There are also two convenient metro stops nearby, a grocery store, gelato, and restaurants. Residence Candia is like staying in an apartment complex. The room comes with a fully furnished kitchen. A loft room above also indicates that at one time, or possibly now, the units are available for long term stay. Excellent use of space. The roof is available for lounging. On a nice day, I could imagine having dinner out there or smoking a cigarette. Staff is friendly. Housekeeping comes promptly in the morning time. It is not like America where you can tell them to come back later. They will march in and clean while you are still in the room and getting ready. Can't complain. The grounds are in tip top shape.

I booked this hotel mainly for the kitchenette, free wifi, private bathroom, and proximity to the…read moremetro for an ok price. The rooms, however, were pretty mediocre. The room was strangely decorated with a green spongy floor, cork walls, pink tiles, and random hooks all over. The bathroom was extremely cramped with a bidet in front of the toilet, so there was no toilet paper holder, so they had to put it on an extremely high shelf. The light switches were oddly placed puzzles and the lights were very dim. There were lights above our bed that stayed dimly lit all night long and we couldn't turn them off. The beds were ok (2 twins pushed together), but my husband had a fluffy pillow and I had a lumpy, flat one. Rooms were supposed to include wifi and tv, but the TV was antenna, and all the stations were fuzzy and in Italian. Wifi barely worked. When we asked the front desk, they knew it didn't work. The worst part though was the smell. At some point the room started to smell like an airplane bathroom. We told the front desk that our room "smelled funny." When we described it, he said "that doesn't surprise me." He offered to move us to a room that was 1/4 the size of our current room, but that was their last effort to rectify the problem. Eventually, I suspected the air conditioner and turned it off. Unfortunately, it was hot, so we had to keep our first floor windows open. This was unpleasant since people standing near the entrance could look into our room and wake us up with loud conversations. As I was trying to checkout to make my train, there was a woman talking to the receptionist, so she told me to wait. As I stood there, another woman looking to checkout came by and jingled her keys. The 1st woman left, and she proceeded to help the woman who came after me. The receptionist was flustered, but I asked her how much. She said "don't rush me so early in the morning. When I gave her money, she had difficulty making change and told me I'm using all her money. This place only gets an extra star for the price compared to other hotels in Rome.

The reviews are all over the place…read more Yes it's a budget type of hotel Yes it shares space with apartment tenants who live there on other floors Yes the walls are thin lol Yes it's loud during the night mainly from a truck who seems to collect glass bottles 5-6 times a night and random people partying late But honestly its hard finding spots that will accommodate at least 4 without getting 2 rooms which we had Place blends in so unless you are staying there you wouldn't know but I'm ok with that Location is amazing!! It's literally around the corner from the pantheon and we felt safe and it's central to just all the other sites The employees were friendly and the place was clean and they had a vending machine for water which was much needed and they had a little lunch room area with seating which was nice to have Overall it's good value I say Could it be better? Yes but it's not horrible like some folks say lol

As other reviews have pointed out... this is definitely a 'budget hotel' (just look and feel those…read more'prison cots' my kids had to use as their beds for two nights!). The place was clean (although the main hallway - shared with actual tenants/businesses - reeked of cigarette smoke). Our room was clean. The bathroom seemed new. No frills or thrills (unless the bidet counts?!). Just a stone's throw from the Pantheon, across the street from a Michelin-starred restaurant, this hotel felt 'European' and a bit 'historic'. Only found out last-minute about local taxes/fees (which, to be fair, was a 'thing' at each place we'd stay throughout our vacation) - but they could only be paid in cash? Major issues: walls were paper thin and a family right next to us (with a toddler) made sure to have a lively conversation that went on late into the night. And without any type of fan or central air we had to open a window just to get some (cool) air and now it's deafening between the constant traffic (cars and walking tourists), busboys throwing out recycling at some ungodly hour, the polizia in hot pursuit, you name it. Probably our worst sleep while in Italy. (Cool/friendly staff, though.)
