NICE HOTEL ACROSS FROM THE MARINA IN LAGOS, PORTUGAL…read more========================================== I found this hotel on my own after doing some research because my son and his wife wanted to go to the Algarve for a few days. My husband's cousin who lives in Cascais and speaks Portuguese booked it for us. The price was very good. I think we paid about 650 euros for two rooms for two nights for my son, daughter-in-law and then my husband and I. I liked everything about this hotel except our view in the rear of the property from Room #207. Our balcony basically faced the bus station, but we were also on the end of the building so we had a peekaboo side view of the marina. It was a comfortable and quiet room at night, so that was good. I would highly recommend booking a room on the side that faces the marina in one of the upper floors. They have a great balcony spanning half of the hotel on the fourth floor. It's a great place to relax at the end of the day. Bring your own beverages and snacks. They also have a small pool area up some stairs overlooking the bus station. They have a small bar by reception and the prices are good. You can get towels for the pool or beach, but you need to leave them a 10 euro deposit per towel. That makes sense or people will forget to bring them back. Easy access to activities at the marina. We booked a boat/kayak tour Ponta da Piedade Caves which was a lot of fun through Days of Adventure. It was a short trip on the water which is nice because I get seasick. I did take some Dramamine which helped too.

Spotlessly clean, updated, and quiet!…read more The room is a ten minute walk from the railroad station, which is how we arrived and departed. Each room has a balcony with two chairs and a table. We chose a room on the west side to avoid the sun while enjoying a morning cup of coffee. It was fun to watch the beehive activity of the live market on Saturday morning. Although the bus terminal is behind the hotel, we couldn't hear anything from there with the door closed. In the evenings, we enjoyed the shade on the roof top patio. They had multiple seating areas, loungers, and a pool. The views were remarkable. Staff members were all respectful, kind, and friendly. The breakfast was complete, including pastries, fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, beans, cheeses, cold cuts, juices, and coffee. We chose this hotel primarily because we took the train to Lagos, and didn't want to walk far. But it was also an easy walk to the old town and to the beach.

I'm writing this review solely based on the amazing customer service I experienced. When I called to cancel my stay the person who answered was extremely helpful and did the best she could to help me catch a different train and sort through the transportation issues I was having. Unfortunately I was still unable to make it to Lagos with the ability to make the most out of my short stay and ended up canceling. They were kind enough to waive any charges, despite me canceling very last minute. I truly hope I am able to travel to Lagos one day so I can fully experience this hotel.

Kind of mixed on this hotel. Convenient location, clean and modern but awkwardly designed rooms…read more The shower/toilet area is on the other side of the bed from the sink. It's a novelty that soon became a minor annoyance for my wife and I, especially at night, when we were trying to minimize movement and noise. And with little room for luggage, they've managed to design bonus tripping hazards into the layout. The staff was polite but stiff, usually speaking in a corporate hush, although the young woman who checked us in projected normally in exquisite English. There was some nickel and diming and enforcement of petty rules. Drinks and snacks provided in the room turned out not to be complimentary as they were at other nice hotels in Portugal. Yet no price list was posted in the room, causing an unwelcome surprise at checkout. Another surprise: Our take-out meal in the lobby on a quiet holiday evening was interrupted by a request to eat in our rooms. There was no "for future reference" warning. We packed up our half-eaten dinner and took to our rooms, feeling like naughty children being disciplined. Later in our stay I asked if I could grab a quick glass of already opened champagne still on ice in the breakfast dining area and surely destined to be poured down the sink. But breakfast had ended so the answer was, well, you know.

Stayed here for 2 weeks and unfortunately the experience wasn't good at all! We were looking for a…read moresmall hotel to get some quality holidays away from crowds and noise, and this hotel while having everything to deliver that just failed us big time! Here are the reasons: 1) Freeloaders! This hotel allows locals (non-guests) to use the bar, swimming pool, lounge chairs and sun umbrellas, making the place sometimes crowded and having customers competing for space and chairs, as some afternoons, around 80% of the people around the swimming pool weren't hotel customers at all! Just local families from the neighborhood, arriving some times in groups of 8 or 9 people, and usually being the most noisy and rude people around! We had kids playing football on top of us on this very small space around the pool, kicking the ball against our chairs, and some non guests even taking occupied chairs (with towels on top) while hotel guests went for lunch. That is just absolutely WRONG! The pool and place around is too small, and customers paying big money for staying on the hotel shouldn't have to compete for space and chairs with freeloaders! 2) Too many dogs! We only found that on arrival, that they allow pets, so we got dogs around the tables while having breakfast, dogs around the swimming pool, and even worst, waking with dogs barking at night and in the morning when the owners left the dogs locked in the room while going for breakfast! One afternoon while relaxing on my lounge chair with my family, we've got this Spanish family with 2 dogs barking at us very aggressively just 1 meter from our chairs! Unacceptable!!! Pets shouldn't be allowed on the premises, especially around the pool, and guests shouldn't be worrying about being bitten. 3) Huge inflatables! The swimming pool is quite small and being full of peoples inflatables (guest and non guests), from huge 2 meters dolphin shape inflatables to even larger boats, running over guests heads while on the pool, as they hit my wife and child 3 times, shouldn't be tolerated! Apparently the staff doesn't care as they never asked those to be removed, nor there are no signs around the pool with the rules like all hotels have! At least restrict the use of inflatables to children only, and limit the size of those to 1 meter max. This is a hotel, not a circus! As for the bar/restaurant, there is only the bar (very unwelcoming and lacked any atmosphere) and no restaurant. At the bar, for food you can only get toasts, burgers and hot-dogs. No thank you! The pool is small and have a maximum depth of 1.20 meters. The WiFi is fast enough for video streaming, but lacks any security protocol, meaning that all your data will be visible on the network (very dangerous) when not in secure websites. The nearest beach is 20 min walking from the hotel. As for the rooms, there are good size and comfortable, but more than once got towels with holes... This is BAD!!! As for the view, you only get a view to the sea if you're staying on the first floor. Another first time issue and strange enough, the hotel asked us to make the full payment while checking in! Done. But why! Better hotels always asked us to pay at the check-out...
