This is a lovely three star micro-hotel. Simply lovely. Rooms are small by US standards, but very well equipped. I arrived without a reservation, and the staff was warm and welcoming. My room was 137 Euros each night. Not cheap! But for the location, worth it.
It's in a fantastic location in the 6ieme, not even 100 steps (!) from the Saint-Michel metro stop, and a block from the Seine. It's REALLY hard to find unless you know exactly where you're going. Print out a very detailed map, this is a pedestrian-only alley/side road that you can get to by crossing Rue Danton and passing through an open arch. Or you can walk along Quai Des Grands Augustins, and turn on Rue Git-le-Coeur to enter the alley from the other end. It's less than a mile to the Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, and of course, Notre Dame.
They offer breakfast for an additional price, but I didn't try it. They have an elevator. They gave me a mini bottle of champagne, too.
There is a gorgeous little bar across the alley, La Venus Noire. Beaudelaire used to spend time there. I didn't try the Italian restaurant next door.
I try never to do the same thing twice when vacationing, but I'll come back here. read more
