Only complaint would be the breakfast. As Scandinavians, we are used to a have more healthy food in the morning. The buffet contained nothing but cakes, sugary croissants with either jam, vanilla or chocolate. Ok, there were also some untempting precut dry bread. I know traditions are different, however this was not good. All in all a good 3 star hotel.

When I arrived, Perla was not at the location. I called her and she became nasty and abrupt on the phone, telling me she would call me back later. She came to meet me and told me that she did not have my reservation and the residence was full. When I showed her the email confirmation sent by her, Perla became angry and defensive, cursing me and my family. In an otherwise wonderful trip to Italy, this was the worst experience. I was stranded in Ostia but luckily was able to find another hotel. Stay away from this place.

We relaxed by the pool and had a wonderful lunch at the poolside restaurant called "The Wood Bar." The food & wine were delicious and the staff at the restaurant went out of their way to be accommodating Truly decompressing after a lot of touring around Italy. It has clean modern décor, balconies, a great included breakfast, and is only 6 rooms. You get personalized service from the owner and his two sons. They will shuttle you to your terminal the next morning, a 5 minute ride. These are the most friendly helpful people you will ever meet. There are 6 or 8 restaurants in walking distance. Beware, your GPS will NOT take you there - ours was off by a mile. The Sleep and Fly is directly across the street from the Best Western Rome Airport. Perfect place for that overnight before flying!

The figs were small and green, just emerging during mid September, we missed their peak stage by about a month. *small but clean quaint property *comfortable beds-no frills but adequate and minimalist with modern flare *rooftop lounge with ocean views? (I missed it!) *dining on site, breakfast included with stay-more than adequate! *minutes from airport shuttle available *great shampoo, wish they sold it! *a few blocks walk to the ocean/beach DH chose this hotel as a resting place after our flight into Fiumicino, Italy. After a long flight, and a Garmin inability to find this place, we finally put in the name of the street and came right upon the hotel (print out directions prior to arriving or use google maps). The hotel also has a shuttle if needed which many guests were taking advantage of, its only minutes away from the airport. We just needed a place to rest for a night before heading north, this is located about 30 minutes from Rome City Center. We arrived on property about 8:30 in the evening and were so glad to be greeted by Stefano and offered dinner at the hotel if we were so inclined, to allow us not have to go out after a long day of travel. We dined al fresco while Stefano warmed my husbands favorite lasagna of the trip (the hotel has a chef who comes in and preps the food). Stefano also made us a mushroom pizza and garnished with fresh basil from the herb garden in the patio. We dined with a sweet Italian couple from NY who also loved the quaint feel of the property, they ordered the pizza and some meatballs and said the meatballs were good. They too, were staying for one night on the tail end of their trip, they had dropped their rental car off and would be shuttled to the airport by hotel staff for their early AM flight, The outside of the street area (street parking) is within a neighborhood which looks slightly sketch but was safe for us. There were many local teens walking around, looked to be the typical Italian city back road neighborhood. The property itself is gated. We would return to this property.

Litus Hostel is the pit stop you need whether on holiday or simply passing through. The energy of this place by the sea is a profoundly prophetic oxygen that should be inhaled simply for the notion of having visited this place you are blessed. The staff of the hostel is friendly and very accommodating, they provide you with what you need if you need it, if they don't have it then the various shops close by will have what you need. My stay has always been absolutely and irreversibly enjoyable. Come Have a beer and cigarett or take a coffee and mingle with the many guests that bring the place to life. 10/10

As Dave V. stated, this place is massive; at first glance, I thought, holy crap, what have I…read morebooked? I seriously thought it was a jail compound or exactly the type of hostel those not-so-great hostel movies were made after. But not to worry, you'll get over it in a jiffy. I stayed during Rome's August holiday, so the streets were completely quiet, and that didn't help with the initial scare of the property's physical appearance. Once you walk in, the inside pretty much looks like what you'd expect from the outside; old concrete, long halls, and lots and lots of rooms. The staff there for the most part speaks English just fine, and you can book through their website, through another site like hostelworld.com, or even call through Skype if that suits you. They do have free internet access, and small lockers for you to use if you wanted store away anything important. (Btw, If you're flying out through the Aeroporto Leonardo da Vinci di Fiumicino, and just staying over in Ostia for a day or two, I'd suggest just leaving your major luggage at the airport. For I believe about 12 euros a day, you can drop your bag at the Airport's Left Baggage Facility. That helped me quite a bit, as it took over an hour and 20 minutes for me to get to and from Fiumicino to Ostia's Litus Hostel (but that might have been because bus service was not running regularly during the holiday) and I'm happy I only had a backpack to haul. Anyways, back to the hostel. The other guests and staff were friendly as you'd expect, and it's always interesting to start a conversation and hear what part of their journey they're at. The refreshments are really inexpensive there, so that was a big plus. I stayed in a female dorm of 6-beds, and they had a shower and bathroom in our room which was quite nice. They provide you with towels, sheets and a pillow, so anything else you need, make sure you bring it, or you can purchase it at the hostel or the corner stores nearby (Oh, have bugspray if you come in the summer...) Unless you want to hang out indoors to use the net or something though, I would just go grab your swimmers and a towel and hang by the water with whomever you meet. And maybe pack a picnic/beverages as well, if you're cheap like me and don't want to pay the surcharge at the beach bars. (Oh, and there was also public and private beach access at the time, not sure if that's year round or not; don't be put off by that, just walk around the fence :) So, should you book there? Yes, I thought it was a good value. It's a no-frills place to wind down a bit before or after a hectic travel schedule. Just be prepared, I think I took 2 buses to get to and from the airport (the tickets can be purchased at the airport), and as the hostel advises, make sure you speak to each bus driver to ask them to notify you of where to get off. They're quite familiar with the hostel, so there shouldn't be any problems. Relax & enjoy, ciao ciao~!
