It's set up a hill just outside the old city which gives it a sense of peace and country quiet. The center of things is just a short, beautiful walk along the Via Roma, and you're over the bridge and deep in the noisy and crowded hub of Florence! The hotel is sweet. The rooms are very old fashioned but comfortable. Our bathroom had been updated and was great! The shower was fabulous! The desk staff are very helpful and charming. The breakfast room and bar are something out of an old 40s novel but if that's more interesting to you than a loud antiseptic, cold, unfeeling hotel bar of the 2000s...then this is the place for you. One negative was the smell of the feather pillow I asked for. I think it was old stale nicotine. But a good thing was the great strength of the WiFi signal!

Service: we literally arrived 1 minute before the required check-in time because our train was late, but the owner was still extremely patient, generous, and kind. Spoke English and check-in was smooth, efficient, and welcoming. Only con I can think of is lack of a lift, but that's seemingly the norm here in Florence. Then again, Italy is a place to explore on foot so no complaints on stairs. If stairs break this hotel decision for you, book an all inclusive at a beach resort instead, not Italy. Details and stair situation are clearly displayed in the booking details. Public toilet is no-one's favorite, but again for the price to have a private room and en-suite shower, amazing amazing value. Can't complain. The staff is so kind and helpful; printing directions, sharing flyers to restaurants, wine tasting, and museums. This is a charming villa located in a country setting. The grounds are picturesque. The villa is very close to the train station in Signa that can take you to Firenzi in minutes. We especially loved the delicious breakfast made available to guests at no additional charge. In my standards, which are way above average, bordering great, but nowhere near luxury, this place is basically cheap in comparison to how beautiful it is. the building, which is 13th century, is gorgeous. i think there are 4-5 apartments, I booked the one with two floors and the last leg of our honeymoon in florence was perfect and our stay here had much to do with it. some highlights: -easy access with key fob and very secure, gated building - bath products, linens, toiletries, water, snacks, replenished daily and complimentary -marco, the owner, carried all my luggage and offered to handle all transportation to and from the airport, train station... wish I would have read that and let him handle it but not for lack of effort on his part, i just don't read emails - excellent communication with hosts -pretty adorable house! - excellent location, steps from ponte vecchio so you are surrounded by high end fashion, all the art galleries and sites, and steps from the river to cross into the other side of of the city... best of both worlds the ONLY thing i hated was the stairs.... 53 steep steps up to our spot, but zoning for an elevator in a building this old isn't an option... so luckily everything else made the steps worth it if and when i return to florence i would most defintely stay here again!

The rooms are large, very clean, and the building is well secured with 3 key access. The price is right, and honestly it's a great value for what you get. We were not expecting much from this hotel, booked so last minute that we were left with a three-person room for two people. But we were pleasantly surprised. The website is extremely honest and up to date, clearly stating that this is a low-budget, 2-star accommodation establishment that provides no frills but real quality. The rooms are really colorful, bright, and actually surprisingly spacious compared to its Italian competitors (and London ones as well). I actually grew quite fond of the burnt orange and cheery yellow decor, especially when it was paired with a lovely en-suite. And a bidet?! Had never even SEEN one of these before. Anyway... Also (drum-roll please).....*free breakfast*. And it's quite a decent spread including croissants (with butter/jam/honey), yogurt, cereal, bagels, fruit, and juice/coffee. And huge TV. Shall I go on? I will...The price is amazing. Our room was 70 euros for what was meant to be 3 people, booked 24 hours in advance. But if you check the website, it seems to offer rooms for around 50 euros for 2 people. Considering the hostel was only a couple euros cheaper, well, it's your pick. For a 2-star, I give this place 5 stars without question. Also, the friendly reception works 24 hour, which is great. Only downside is that it's a little bit of a walk from the train. But, I appreciate the exercise :) Definitely worth using this as your budget base for a great trip if you prefer to splash out on great Italian food/site-seeing rather than on your crash-pad.
