I'm posting this review today but I've composed it in 2018 just after I was back from my Italy…read moretrip. I've gotten so busy with what life takes us through, and totally forgot to push the Post button. Oct 2018: Everything about this place is heavenly. The hotel, surrounding hills, the restaurant, the spa (think of living in the best place in the heart of Napa, or even better, actually). I have no words to describe this place/Hotel. This place wasn't on our Italy cities list. We didn't plan to stay here until 2 nights before we left Venice. A beautiful unforgettable drive from Venice to Florence, made a small detour for a night stay in a quieter and small village sort of scene, brought us to Artimino & we totally fell in love with Hotel Artimino, I literally thought of canceling rest of my Italy trip to just stay here for few more days. Clean hotel, inexpensive due to early October (off season or something) beautiful restaurant next to our hotel room/suite. Actually, our room was a huge townhouse with first floor dinning + small kitchen with living room and entertainment center + a bathroom. Second floor, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom + incredible hill views and super quite and serene. The hotel offers breakfast so don't miss it when you go there. The hotel also has an incredible spa with grape therapy soaking tub with choice of wine to enjoy as well. I didn't have time for spa as the only appointment available was in the evening the next day but since we were there only for a night, I could make it to that appointment due to our next train from Florence to Rome. If time and opportunity permits in the future and we go back to Italy, we will definitely make time to stay here for at least more than two nights!

NOOOOOOOOOO! On our 4th night what appears to be bed bugs started coming out in the middle of the…read morenight!!! Now the huge red bubbled-up blotch under my left eye makes sense. I woke up the day earlier wondering what had bit me during the night before. After close inspection tonight, I caught one of the little suckers creeping on the fabric headboard of my twin bed. He saw me at the same time and tried to hide in one of the seams of the headboard fabric! I grabbed him with some tissue. All night long I was grabbing and killing these bugs one after the other from our beds and pillows!!!I have the heebie-geebies and I'm ready to get the heck outta here. I pulled my bed and my daughter's bed away from the headboards about 2 feet. As soon as the sun come up, management will certainly hear from me. I'm totally livid!! We have an additional night here. I reported the issue. They called an infestation guy this morning, who showed up but now we have no room until someone else checks out. Trip to Pisa ruined. We were offered wine for being awake all night and being bitten. We were asked to leave our luggage and valuables in the hallway outside the infested room or to shove our luggage and shopping bags in the small unsecured reception office. Unacceptable! I was told the manager might not be in today after I asked to speak to someone who could reimburse us for our night of terror, which apparently greatly upset the desk clerk. She asked if we GOT BIT EVERY NIGHT and quipped that it's not the hotel's fault that bugs came from someone else. All I wanted was to be treated kindly for the issue, which I think requires more than wine. Wasn't one night of watching the bed bugs enough to be compensated for one night. This is how you treat guests who come to you with a health hazard??

I absolutely love this place…read more I moved from Southern California to Florence for school when I was just a teenager & fell in love with the city for years. Now that I am older & had the chance to visit again, I searched high and low for a decent hotel. Florence is apart of me so I needed to find the perfect hotel. I came across the Hotel Hermitage one night and booked it! Upon arrival, I was greeted by the nicest hotel staff ever. The overall service here is so welcoming and warm! The staff does speak great English, so if it is your first language, you will have no problem at all. They go over the reservation & everything provided in very clear detail. Also, they offer maps of the city and different suggestions for things to do when touring! Apart from the staff, my favorite part was the views. Looking out of these windows and seeing the city really brought back so many good memories. You have a view from every part of the hotel, so that is a plus. Also, you have a beautiful view for breakfast as well. The location is also perfect - 10/10 - being right above a gelato shop and right next to the ponte vecchio! It is very easy to access many different sites while staying here! Anyways, if you are searching for a well priced and lovely hotel to stay at during your trip to Florence, book this place! You will not regret it one bit. I will continue booking here every summer on my trips back to Italy!
