Our first stop in Italy. We chose the Hotel dei Cavalieri for three reasons: location, 4 star and The Roof. Remo and the concierge staff were terrific. They made several restaurants reservations for us, all excellent, and a very fun vintage Fiat 500 tour of the city with Luca. We travel primarily to eat, and we ended our last evening in Milan at The Roof. We started on the terrace for an aperitivo, with a breathtaking view of Milan. Excellent cocktails and bar snacks extraordinaire. We then moved into the restaurant. Service and food were top notch. We had the linguine with sea urchin, risotto Milanese with Ossobuco and Sole Meunière. Our server Francesca was delightful. After hearing that we were celebrating our 35th anniversary, she brought a complimentary tiramisu , complete with fireworks. A wonderful evening! read more

There is the hotel, and there's the rooftop bar. The rooftop bar is not Duomo view as it's a good walk from Duomo. But they had good service. The hotel for me was very bad. I got a basement room looking out onto the floor of the courtyard, at chest level. Begged the front ladies to change room, they gave me the cold shoulder. I understand if I got some bargain basement rate, I'd get what I paid for, but I booked regular rate for multiple days. Definitely got screwed for this one. Back to the basement room. Realized anyone could walk into the hotel and access the courtyard, had to keep the blinds covered all the time. Anybody on their smoking break can peek into your room. Then before bed, I realized one of the windows was unlocked behind the closed curtain. Talk about major security risk there. Windows could not easily be closed/locked, had to get front security guy to help close them. The front desk was not helpful asking for directions to the duomo. Just a map of the hotel, pointed duomo and pointed to the direction. The room was well-used. Coat hangers are the anti-theft that is so worn out it could probably only hold a underwear. A shirt/sweater on them will fall off due to how worn the ball/sockets were. So all my cloths stayed in the luggage. Definitely no no for a business traveler who might need to hang their shirt/suit to keep wrinkles out, never mind steaming them in the shower. The room was small, barely any room to open the luggage now they serve as the drawer. Toilet kept running after flushing, had to re-flush several times to stop the running. The room looked pretty but not real functional. The knobs for sinks and showers are completely round and opening them are like opening a can. Definitely problematic for older folks. The first day I left decent tip only to have poor room service. Our food was eaten and young members kept count of their snacks daily until I put them away. The bed and pillows were stiff as the front desk ladies. Add the rumbling of the tram even on the courtyard side at night, they really ruined the trip. I don't know what to say other than I got the short end of the stick with this hotel and will warn people against coming to this hotel. read more

Great variety of breakfast options on meat, cheese, bread/pastries, fruit and cereal, juice and coffees Prompt service and relaxed atmosphere. Worth booking the room with breakfast included. Breakfast served from 7am-10am, gets busy after 8:30am. Hotel was on the pricier side but location was a few minutes walk to Duomo and Galleria, worth the convenience. Out junior room had a good size bathroom with towel warmer, coffee/tea station, mini fridge and safe. DO USE the safe as 1 day I forgot my wallet in my spare purse by the foot bed and €€ disappeared. The 1 day I didn't have it locked up/put away, sure enough some money went missing. The room included 2 bottles of water which was nice (but for 3 people, I think there shoul have been 3). You also get tea, 1 nespresso pod per person per day but creamer provided was only for 1 person (those 2 small containers) and a couple times it was not replenished. The room was kept tidy, the hotel staff were accomodating. We didnt get to check out thr relaxation area, restaurant & rooftop in our short stay. Would go back & just need to remember to keep valuables locked up. read more

Stayed here for one night in Milan and it was a pleasant stay with only a couple of minor issues. We booked online in advance and had no issues at check-in. They do have luggage storage. Check in is at 2pm, and though we had to wait to check in, they offered us some acqua panna for our time. There is a restroom in the lobby. We had a room for four people, and there were two pull out couches which they kindly set up for us beforehand. It was hard to figure out how to turn on certain lights as well as figure out how to fill the bathtub (yes it seems simple but for some reason, nothing we tried work and we had to use the nozzle to shower off in a tub). They did provide nice toiletry sets in addition to slippers and robes. There is a safe. The room was very spacious and there were two TVs (one in the living room and one in the master bedroom). The location is very convenient - it's a one minute walk from the metro and an 8 minute walk to the Duomo. The rooftop bar at the top is nice and has pretty views. read more

Excellent food and service with an outstanding view of Milan. We got to the hotel too early to check into our room. We went upstairs to the Roof restaurant while we waited. Nice crusty bread to start. My wife had a pasta with pesto sauce and roasted eggplant. I had buffalo mozzarella with multicolored tomato's. Both dishes were excellent. Absolutely amazing hotel. Its 5 min walk from Duomo Di Milano and it's very convenient to have one of the best rooftop bar upstairs. We booked room in newer part of the building. We got high floor as we requested and It was absolutely stunning view from our window. Beds are so comfortable. Facility is very clean & walking closet it's so spacious. Fridge "mini bar" is small so don't think you can store too much of your things. Bathroom is gorgeous and spacious, huge waterfall shower and huge sink. Hotels breakfast is delicious and abundance of fresh baked pastries, cheese & meets, cereal, fruits & veggies, yogurts and juices. They also offer champagne for breakfast. Complete relax & worth every penny. Also they have the roof Milano bar & restaurant upstairs! We stayed at the hotel so it was very convenient to come to the rooftop bar for dinner & drinks! My husband took sea bass Mediterranean style and I took chefs lobster dish. I was a bit upset it was cold but I guess thats how they serve it in Milan. Salad type of lobster & celery & carrot. Next day I took wasm lobster pasta and my husband decided to try cotoletta Milanese. Both evenings we took Franciacorta and they also have very tasty olive oil. Not withstanding the excellent service provided by Bianca, the desk clerk, I was less than enthused with the service, and hotel accommodations. The air conditioning in my room, and my son's room did not work, and after a problem in Rome, missing my flight, and having to take a bus back to Rome, the train to Milan, and having to wake up at 3:00am for a flight, I am sweating in our room's with them trying to figure out the problem before giving is other rooms. They finally found the a/c was not switched on for various rooms on the 5th.fl, including my S-I-L's room, No 1 son's room, as well as mine. So I'm really mixed on this hotel. The air conditioner didn't really cool off the room, the rooftop bar was closed for maintenance, the room itself was super small (which was fine for our one night but otherwise I'd opt elsewhere). Oh and the fun part was when you showered, the showerhead would disconnect and so water would fly all over the bathroom. This happened not once but twice. I feel like if your bar is pretty low, then this hotel is a nice fit. But I personally feel for the price it doesn't match. read more

Room size was decent fit two large suitcases easily. For the location to the Duomo and shopping on the Gallerie Emmanuelle, you can't beat it. Arriving there on a Saturday, it was oddly dead outside! No one walking around- maybe 5-10 ppl on the streets. Parking is not in the building and no one to park it. It's back in a quiet shady underground valet garage. 25Euro per night to park. Woman greeted us nicely and spoke English well. Bathroom is nice with a bidet and triple spray shower! Rainfall and side sprays. Balcony was very nice with views. Bed comfy, more than just one pillow pp which is nice. AC worked well. I'd stay here again or maybe next time in Navigli area. read more

This is a nice hotel and it closes to everything. Hotel staff, from receptionists to restaurant and bar servers, and even the room cleaning ladies, are nice and helpful. They are all fluent in English. The room I am staying is not big but at least a king-bed room with a clean and standard-sized bathroom. It is so cool that there is an Nespresso machine in the room. Free hotel buffet breakfast and free wifi are available for all room guests. The hotel has a great-view rooftop terrace opens till midnight for drinks and snacks. The lobby lounge is funky and comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel, and will come back if I visit Milan again! read more

The best location imaginable in Milan. Short walking distance to almost everything. Via Torino just a few blocks away. Our room was spacious, good bed, nice bathroom, an old looking hairdryer (which I didn't use, because I had brought my own), TV was also old and pretty small - but who goes to Milan to watch TV anyway? The only thing that bothered us was the AC not working too well. However, we didn't ask the staff for instructions, so it might as well have been our lack of competence... The breakfast was good, not fantastic. A little bit of everything. Good coffee!! Another thing worth mentioning is their roof top terrace. Nice place to hang out. The staff were also very helpful and available 24/7. Bonus: Complementary bottle of Prosecco in our room by arrival. read more

My wife and I came to Italy for our 25th wedding anniversary. We traveled with my sister and her husband. On our anniversary we were in Milan for 3 nights and stayed at this hotel. We paid extra to have a "superior" room. Upon entering our room we were greeted with a leak in the ceiling dripping on the floor. In the bathroom, one of the lights in the shower constantly flickered like a strobe light. We went down to the front desk to tell them about the issues and were assured they'd be fixed immediately. We approached a gentleman standing behind the concierge desk to ask for directions to a place for dinner and his response was simply, "I'm security". What he was securing we have no clue, but he wasn't helpful in any way. Each day passed and the issues were never resolved. Our ceiling continued to leak and the light constantly flickered. Additionally, our King mattress was actually 2 twin size mattresses pushed together. Upon checking out, we learned that our "superior" room was actually given to our traveling partners! We never went in their room, so had no idea our room wasn't nicer. The hotel still charged us the higher rate, never offering to correct the billing. We will not return to this hotel. read more

A beautiful building and exceptional service. The staff is very accommodating to foreigners (Americans in my case). The breakfast alone might make the stay worth the price. They admittedly try to have "American" options, but you won't want that anyways. The rooftop has a bar / lounge with a beautiful view. Definitely a must see if you're staying in the hotel. read more

Great location and modern amenities/decor. REmo at the door was a very attentive and hospitable front door man who helped us with directions to the sites. Very close to I'll Duomo, Galleria and La Scalia. Breakfast was terrific; dining room very clean and great selection of eats. The room size was adequate, king size bed, very clean and modern..good AC and outlets for electronics. Front desk was very helpful.This hotel needs a concierge to help with local site seeing. We took the hotels' car service to the airport which was the same 99 Eur as a cab and the driver was very polite and spoke some english. It took 1. Hr to Malpensa. We would return! read more

Located nicely near public transportation. Stayed here for about 7 days. A short walk away Duomo of Milan and shops. The reception area is small. Staff are really great! If you need to print go to the reception area. If you need an umbrella go the reception area. The room is decent size considering you are in Milan. The bed is not the best. Decor is nice and modern. Bathroom is modern too. Shower area has ample space. The showers are modern Euro with good pressure and hot water. Room air condition is very capable to cool on a very hot day. The cleaning lady is nicely dressed. She is like a Milan fashion model for housekeeping. Have not tried rooftop dining. Sometimes it's closed due to bad weather or private party. Breakfast buffet offers great selection. It's like continental breakfast but with Euro twist. You can still order a variety of breakfast on a menu but you have to pay extra. I will give the hotel a 5 star if their daily buffet changes every day. read more

Truly the best place to stay. Rather than produce a long winded review, just know that the quality of the hotel and location is fantastic.

At the roof top bar of this flee bag and I have to say that it has to be the worse service I've ever had and bad service is not a cultural experience. Yesterday I came here and the waiter forgot that I had paid or at least pretended to forget because as soon as he heard me speak Italian he miraculously remembered. When the labor laws change here the work force will be in for a rude awakening. read more

Entire experience was a nightmare, from start to finish (we were on our honeymoon). Upon check in we were informed we had to pay an additional $30 per person, per night because booking.com did not transmit the info properly (I can't hold that against the hotel but will address this with booking.com). After checking in, we went to the roof for dinner (very $$$) and every meal was terrible. My wife ordered the 'land and sea' option but we were told it was just one or the other- (um, ok?)- her carpaccio tasted like hamburger meat and hamburger seasoning like they had taken pre-made patties and quickly threw it together. My fish was cold and very fishy tasting. Definitely not worth the money ($150 for a crappy meal). We then went over to the bar section and ordered a cocktail. I got my martini but my wife waited for 30 minutes and her drink never came. We were never acknowledged by bar staff again to let them know, so we finally just decided to leave. When they saw us leaving displeased, the bar staff finally asked who had taken our order so they could look into it, but made no effort to buy us a drink or even apologize. Then we got back to the room (10:30pm) and the toilet would not stop running (and it was LOUD, like a rushing river). My wife called the front desk and I went down to talk to the manager. I explained the entire awful evening to him and he was more interested in our terrible dinner than the toilet, but said he would send someone up to the room to fix it. The first bellhop that came up to fix it was able to get it to stop running (11:15pm). Shortly after he left, the toilet would no longer flush, so we called downstairs again. While waiting for the next repair, we got a knock at the door. I opened it assuming it was the gentleman here to fix the toilet, but instead it was the restaurant manager waving the dinner receipt in my face and asking why we didn't tell him we were dissatisfied while at the restaurant (this is at 11:30 at night, down a dark hallway- we were the only room down there!). I can't believe the hotel would send him up to our room so late and allow him to verbally accost us and make us explain ourselves. We agreed to accept a bottle of prosecco but I fully expected to be comped for dinner or at least offered another meal (neither happened). Again, no apologies. After that, the bellhop came and took another 20 minutes to fix our toilet (they were both very kind, and I assume neither were actually maintenance, so they were doing the best they could). We finally were able to get to bed half past midnight. At 2:30am my wife woke me up to a TERRIBLE rushing noise. The toilet had started up and was twice as loud as before. AND it didn't flush. We had a tour of Milan early in the morning so we barricaded the door with towels and tried to get back to sleep, but it kept us up all night. First thing in the morning I went back down to reception to let them know and finally someone at the front desk said, "Why wouldn't they have just changed your room last night?" That is an excellent question. What kind of hotel would let people on their honeymoon deal with all of that drama?? We arranged for our room to be changed that afternoon. Then we headed to breakfast and were turned away at the door (despite making reservations that included breakfast) and that's when I finally lost it. Thankfully the woman who was coordinating breakfast took pity on us and allowed us to sit down. After she guided us to a working restroom since, you know, we hadn't had one all night or that morning. I would never stay in this hotel again or recommend it to anyone. Absolutely ruined the end of our honeymoon and made no effort to fix any of it. No apologies or efforts to refund us. read more

Our first step into Milan was pretty shocking. Swarmed and accosted by Gypsy pick-pockets; it wasn't until we reached Dei Cavalieri hotel - we were comforted by the friendly reception staff. I was in touch with the hotel staff to understand the best way to reach the hotel. They were helpful over email and usually answered in a day. The hotel is right opposite from the Missori metro station. However, if you are travelling from France or other parts of Italy and have luggage, I would NOT recommend taking the metro - as the Milano centrale station is full of pick pockets, gypsies and fake pregnant women who are actually thugs. The hotel is in the heart of Milan, about 2mins walk from the Duomo and the mall. There is also a free tram that you can take to get around. The room was comfortable, had modern furniture and amenities (good cupboard, safe etc.). Internet worked very well. Breakfast was included and probably the best I had in Italian hotels during our stay as it had fresh fruits and fresh coffee and less processed crap. Check-in and checkout was easy and they also held our luggage. Reception staff gave us advice on travel, food, sightseeing and also how to avoid the local thug scene. All in all, a great hotel in Milan, I would definitely stay here again. read more
