While the hostess/initial server was a very abrupt, very haughty (with more than a tad of condescension) unpleasant, British woman, (so unpleasant that we were going to leave) the rest of the staff was better, some staff members even rising to the level of gracious. GianPaulo, for example, was attentive, accommodating and very pleasant, so we stayed. We opted to share the shrimp appetizer, which was quite tasty. We then opted for the salmon poke and seared tuna salad (their version of the nicoise). The salmon poke was not bad. The seared tuna salad excelled in both plating and flavor. The tuna was fresh and lightly seared, and the vegetables were also fresh and prepared perfectly al dente. As the restaurant was quite empty, after the initial unpleasantness, we enjoyed a peaceful, relaxing lunch. While we wouldn't "rush back" to Bamboo Bar, it's well located, has a pleasant ambiance, and the seared tuna salad was quite good.

I should mention that we were all well dressed, jackets, dresses etc. everyone looked great... When we arrived the doorman stopped us at the hostess's stand to insist I place my $500 or so handmade Italian umbrella in the front door's overflowing and chaotic umbrella bucket. I calmly showed him my plastic umbrella bag I bring with me for this exact situation, told him "it's not a problem," put my umbrella inside the bag and started walking in. He stopped my fiancée and I and said either the umbrella goes in the front door's bucket or I go outside. Of course, everyone knows umbrellas in an establishment's umbrella bin are considered public property by Italians. My fiancée calmly explained to him it was too expensive for the bin and he said "I don't care!" Then comes the most pretentious part- he said it needed to be left in the bin for "security purposes" Imagine! To stop all umbrellas! I was able to bring my umbrella into an event with president Obama but not Roialto! We looked around and saw no one but normal younger Italians all overdressed to appease their obviously snobby hosts. No VIPs important enough for their own security detail anyway. At that point and not so calmly, I told him where he could put all of his umbrellas and I left. Our friends were already seated and I told my fiancée outside I would get a drink elsewhere while they were there. Once we did everyone complained about the snobby eye-rolling service they got from staff there, even the Filipini buffet servers. Yelp! I recommend not troubling these people since they are obviously the only ones 'cool enough' to be around themselves. It will save your evening as well.

Good luck to all girls.. This is, for me, a complete and utterly disgrace to its customers. The drinks, food etc. was good, but don't let me squat if I need to use the toilet..

Una ragazza Russa conosciuta durante l'aperitivo mi diceva c'è le ricordava NY dove ha vissuto per 15 anni, Direi che forse i Martini hanno influenzato un po' il parere ma sicuramente i nuovi grattacieli hanno un loro fascino. Sulla terrazza si trova una piscina ma visto gli 0 gradi di questo 11 Dicembre lascio la recensione di questa alla prossima estate. La mia serata qui, parte con in aperitivo accompagnato da un degno contorno di stuzzichini. Passiamo poi alla cena. Mi sono buttato su di un antipasto ed un secondo pensando poi di optare per un dolce. Invece no. Entrambi i piatti erano deliziosi ed il gusto gentile mi ha portato ad una delicata sazietà che mi ha fatto saltate il dolce. Schickes Restaurant in der Nähe vom Cimitero Monumentale mit toller Dachterrasse und Pool. Die Speisekarte ist relativ umfangreich und die Preise gesalzen. Das Essen wird schön präsentiert ist aber nur durchschnittlich. Unser Service ist aufmerksam und freundlich gewesen, es gibt aber ein paar Kellner, die sich zu gut für den Job vorkommen und arrogant wirken. Ambiance (4/5): Ugo is a sophisticated cocktail bar and the decor and ambiance match. While I was there with my buddy, I thought to myself: this would make for a good date spot. Service (5/5): European service has a reputation for being slow and inefficient. And not terribly friendly. The opposite is true at Ugo. The bartenders were friendly, checked on us promptly, and closed us out quickly when we were ready to leave. This is not the norm in Italy and it was a nice surprise. Food (N/A): We had dinner earlier so drinks only for us. Drinks (5/5): First off, I appreciated the creativity of the menu itself. The signature cocktails were named after board games and there was a short description to make the connection between the game and the drink. The creativity shown on the menu matches the sophistication of the drinks. If you're looking for an elaborate cocktail, you'll find that at Ugo. The cocktail I ultimately chose had cachasa in it (a Brazilian liquor). You don't find this spirit often so I jumped on the opportunity. The cocktail itself lived up to my expectations and then some. Overall: If I lived in Milan, Ugo would be a part of my regular rotation.
