Nice affordable and clean little hotel close to the heart of Strasbourg!
I reserved a room for 79 Euros to ensure a big bed. When I arrived alone, the very helpful young woman at the front desk gave me the room rate of 69 Euros, informing me that ALL the beds are large. By far much less (almost by half) than other hotels in Europe on this trip!
Caution: front desk is only manned until 11pm, and luckily I arrived beforehand. There is a buzzer to the left of the door to get the attention of the hotel staff.
Check-in was smooth, and staff was helpful, providing me tips and what to do and where to go during the weekend.
No elevator, but I was prepared for that. Room was on first floor (one level above ground entrance). These are not huge rooms, but I've stayed in plenty that were smaller.
Big, comfy bed. Small but clean and maintained bathroom.
Went for a run at night into the old city a few minutes away - wow! As long as you can handle the cobblestones, it makes for a great city running experience. Old architecture galore and people out enjoying a stroll or evening dinner. Great city and staying at the Hotel de L'Ill, a great city on a budget!
