My colleague and I chose to stay at Hotel Centauro for our trip to Venice for The Venice Film Festival, and I have mixed feelings about it.
The location is hidden in a tight walkway/street and is incredibly quiet at night, which is awesome.
The hotel front desk people vary when you see them. The blonde girl that works there is very nice and professional, she's great. The night shift guy is pretty general, hands you your keys when you get back (you have to give them to the front desk every time you leave) and one other guy who is very eccentric and interesting character. Somewhat bourgeois and pompous but it's Italy so what would you expect.
The room is super super small, I mean NYC Studio small, but my colleague and I had a fun time making it work. We split the bed into twin beds, and the easy access to towels and blankets were great.
Also, big plus, the breakfasts in the morning that are included. They are basic but filling and great. We enjoyed coming down for coffee, pancakes, fruit, juices, cereal, pie, hard boiled eggs, yogurt and croissants and bread.
3 stars just because of things like- Government extra tax, when we paid the whole bill, we still had to pay extra/more when we got there for no reason??
The wifi is great to have but there is no elevator or washing machines/driers to do your laundry, which sucks, the building is very old, but has that "charm" you hear about.
They keep the rooms clean with housekeeping and take care of business. So for me, 3 stars. read more
