A nice hotel just off of San Marco Piazza, it backs right on to the canal where a lot of gondola tours start from. The hotel is split over two buildings on opposite sides of the road. Our room was in the second building and it was a little weird heading to it the first time, you have to go up a couple of flights then across the bridge to the other building and then for us, down a flight to our room. Not too bad once we figured it out, but confusing at first.
The rooms were comfortable and the bathroom while compact, had everything you needed. There is a large bar seating area with plenty of light just off of the lobby and a small dock for the water taxi where you can sit and have a drink and watch the gondolas go by.
Breakfast was a normal buffet type, with bacon and omelettes being the hot options. They refilled on a regular by not that frequent basis.
They offer a trip to Murano by private boat on some days, I say take it, but get out of the factory they take you too as soon as you can.
As a hotel, I liked it, the street it is on isn't too busy, and it's moments from the main piazza, and easy to walk to just about anywhere.
My tip, if coming from the airport, take the Alilaguna Orange line and head to the Rialto station. When you get to the stop, walk straight off the boat and into the alleyway ahead of you, all the way down to Venchi ice cream shop, take the dogleg to the left and then turn right before the next ice cream shop and follow it round. The hotel will be just ahead of you, it's less than a 5 minute walk, even with the crowds and so easy. read more
