Located along busy Vesterbrogade north of the meatpacking district, you ring a door bell to get into the waiting area. Once in, the bookshelf opens into the bar space. During the week, they keep the front room open and open the back room on weekends when its more than tourists visiting. The cocktail menu is long, but even better are the bartenders. Taking pride in what they do, you can ask them to make a drink that you like. They appreciate the challenge. My friend and I both did bartender's choice and were pleased with our drinks. We also had fun chatting with the two bartenders. They asked us questions about our hometown and gave us many insights into Copenhagen life and Danish culture.

A simple place where you can get a decent beer (if you can't stand the usual horsepiss pilsner that are widely available here) and can still hold proper conversation with your friend without the dunk-dunk-dunk techno music whatever that they play these days. The bartender is friendly and could recommend you the beer that you will enjoy based on your preference. They have quite a selection so you could try to find your favourite for your next visit. I had a beer with the fantastic name of "Flying Couch" which was very dark, sweet, and malty (good in a 25 cl size, probably undrinkable if any larger). Michelle, the general manager, who I contacted to inform about a private area, was just amazing in thinking in solutions. She made some exceptions and took initiative that meant a lot to us and added to making the night a succes and the bride-to-be a very happy lady! I expected upfront that we would visit quite some bars that evening, but we actually had such a good time at Francis Pony that we stayed there for most of the night. The atmosphere was really chill, the bartenders were friendly and quick, the music was good, we had a nice lounge seat to fit our whole group (thanks to Michelle), enough people to make it crowded in a good way, but not too full that it would be uncomfortable. Also the crowd that visited Francis Pony, that we encountered that evening, were very nice and open. It was possible to dance (we did at some point), although most people there didn't go for that. Let me think of some flaws, before I don't sound credible anymore ;) .... Well if I have to say SOMETHING then maybe that there is just one toilet for the ladies, but I never had to wait, so I wouldn't consider it a con myself. Keep in consideration that we just visited the upstairs, so anything I've said goes for there. When the upstairs is open, I can recommend this as a place to chill with your friends and shake your shimmy on the floor when you get tired of that :)

Overall good time. Maybe a good spot for you to start your night as there are more clubs and bars nearby.

My most favourite is to sit outside at the street when the weather is warm enough and enjoy the passerby people. The beer is on the cheap side and I usually treat myself a rum with ginger ale which costs 40dkk and you get 2 for 70dkk. I think it's a pretty good deal! The interior is a bit dark but hey it's a rock bar. It has these alternative hanging lamps made out of food cans. And has some weird decorations on the wall but I think it just gives more touch to it. If you like fancy places, well, this is not exactly the place for you. Good atmosphere and nice people. For me that's a good deal and I come here quite often as it is located on one of my favourite streets, Blågardsgade.
