We stayed at The Hotel Burg during a recent business trip, and while the property is new and has potential, our experience was disappointing in several respects.
First, the room we received did not match what was advertised online. The "classic king" pictured on their website showed a generous layout with a sitting area, but our room had barely ~60 sq ft of usable space and no real seating options. When I pointed this out, staff insisted it was the same category, but I later learned the photographed rooms are only the corner kings. This feels misleading.
Second, a number of spaces that appear welcoming on the website--the Business Commons and Reading Room--are actually reserved exclusively for members of their private club, "The Chase." As a hotel guest, you're left with the impression of being a second-tier customer, behind Members (first class) and ahead of the general public who come in for the bar/restaurant (third class). That separation takes away from what could otherwise be a great boutique hotel experience.
Third, if you're on the 4th floor directly under the rooftop bar, prepare for noise. Every footstep, chair scrape, and table movement carries through the wood floors overhead. For us, it made the room much less relaxing.
I understand the property just opened and some growing pains are expected. However, the current model seems to prioritize their private club over delivering a consistent, high-quality hotel experience. With some rethinking, The Hotel Burg could become a true standout in downtown Leesburg, but as of now, it falls short of its promise.
The owner responded to my Google review and said they were going to correct things, but the website is still very misleading. The work spaces and Library are not for hotel guest use. Because of their lack of real responses I am lowering the rating to one star. read more
