I stayed 7 nights here and a lovely time overall! The location was good given the price of the rooms, with two Metro lines 7 min and 12 min walk away, though be warned there are some hilly climbs involved. There are 2 frequent bus lines within 3 minutes walking, and one of them leads directly into Le Marais. Another 2-3 bus lines down the hill about 7 min walk at Place de Gambetta.
This hotel is on the edge of Belleville, a more bohemian, artsy district, with La Bellevilloise only a few minutes walk away, and big variety of foods. It feels very safe here, and there's a nice energy to the area.
This seems to be a new hotel, part of the "Sisterhood Hotels" chain. It's a charming mix of vintage and modern decor. Everything feels new, chic, and clean.
Rooms were small, as expected for Paris, but not unmanageable. Very clean, very well designed, given the space available. I was surprised that there was a desk large enough to fit my 16" laptop. Electrical outlets were all thoughtfully placed.
Wifi was good. I did video calls for work from my room, and also did some laptop stuff from the basement eating area, and everything was reliable, with drops or lags.
The morning breakfast (€15) was lovely, with hot foods consisting of scrambled eggs, soft-boiled eggs, and a kind of sausage. Croissants and pains au chocolat were re-baked in-house I believe, so warm and delicious. Then a multitude of cheeses, teas, fruits, breads/baguettes, cereals, and a big fancy automatic espresso machine. Overall, I found the spread to be quite enjoyable. 7am-ish to 10:30am-ish.
The basement where the food is served is cute and cozy. It seems that they leave out the plates, silverware and espresso machine and teas, so it looks like you can drop by any time to get some coffee/tea, etc.
The staff was polite and welcoming, from the front desk to kitchen to housekeeping. Always a friendly, "Bonjour!"
Bathrooms: Super-clean, well-decorated with a nice modern aesthetic. Rainwater shower head.
I would definitely stay again, but some things to note, in case they might be dealbreakers for you:
Firstly, there is no additional bolt lock or chain guard on the door. The only lock is the one you open with your keycard. That said, the hotel front doors are locked after midnight and only the front desk reception can ring someone in (the reception is 24/7).
Ventilation is interesting. I was in Room 502, and every morning of my 7-night stay, around 7am, I would gently wake to the beautiful smell of something being freshly baked. Like, strawberries and pastry dough? Likely the kitchen in the basement, but the smell was wafting up here? Also, they would clean things with vinegar and once, I was in the room during the day while housekeeping was doing their rounds, and I caught wafts of vinegar.
No drawers to speak of. Closet space and hangers were decently sized, and I found enough shelving for my clothes. The space could definitely use a few hooks for jackets, hats, scarves, and such. Speaking of hooks, the hooks in the bathroom were pretty and modern, but did not do a good job holding things. The open shower stall did splash some specks of water out into the bathroom area and after each shower, I'd have to do a few seconds of wiping up.
The elevator was intermittently broken for 2 days of my stay, which made climbing up to floor 5 a bit arduous.
All this aside, I thought this place was great and very cute! I would stay here again! read more
