View of the Fox River from our River King room.

When I booked our room I had to make my reservation over the phone rather than online, the website had apparently been down for quite some time. This was a bit of an inconvenience but not a deal breaker. Upon arrival, I was hoping for charm and character and instead was greeted with a hotel in a state of disrepair. Layers of paint covering all surfaces and just seemingly in desperate need of a deep cleaning. The tongs for the ice cubes had a layer of filth on them that came off when rubbed, the ice bucket did not come with a bag and had a hole in the bottom that leaked. We were also notified when checking in that outside alcohol was not permitted inside the building (at a hotel?!?). They didn't provide soap/shampoo/conditioner in the shower (may have been available by asking the front desk). The rest of the room felt more like a Motel 6 type establishment. The free breakfast consisted of bacon, scrambled eggs, bread, cereal and fruit. While there were some neat old touches (mail slot, elevators) and street parking was convenient, the cleanliness/datedness left a lot to be desired.

This review is based off a wedding, I did not stay here as an overnight guest. This place is stunning - the views inside and out are absolutely gorgeous. My friend got married here and the building is over a 100 years old, it has so much character and charm. There are multiple rooms for large gatherings which we used throughout the night. The service was great - there is a coat check in as soon as you walk in so you don't have to have your stuff hanging from your chair the whole night. The courses were timed out great. Staff was friendly and funny! Bartenders were awesome and alcohol was top shelf. Food was good! Better than your typical 'whatever it's wedding food' food. From the salad, bread and main course everything was delicious. The chicken was a little dry but nothing terrible. I'm not sure if the cake was from hotel baker but if it was, it was divine!

Flyer certainly states "celebratory cocktails" included just a the delicious deserts were.

My corporate travel group booked me here and apparently they booked me in a smoking room as that was all they had left. The morning before I was supposed to check in, the manager at the hotel sent me an email warning me in advance. She let me know they were booked for the night and they didn't have anything else available but if they had any cancellations, they'd move my reservation to a non smoking room. I emailed her back asking if there were any other Hilton properties in the area and she said there was a HGI or something but they were also booked. She then told me there was a Holiday Inn in the area that had non smoking rooms available and she even called for the rates! I decided to just stay in the Hampton Inn anyway. Smoking rooms are gross. I felt like I was trying to fall asleep in a bar. That's not the managements fault, it's my corporate travel group. So they booked me in a non smoking room for the 2nd night and that was much better. The whole time, the staff was very apologetic even though it wasn't their fault and they tried to be as accommodating as possible

They had multiple staff to help with high numbers of guests. 2. the grounds were lovely, well equipped with activities like tennis, volleyball, and easy access to the Fox River Trail. 3. The staterooms in the Qtower were comfortable. I had a nice room overlooking the courtyard area with the adirondack chairs and firepits. The room had an extra pillow and blanket which I most definitely used because you had to have the AC on while the Chicago area was experienes 95+ temp days. My particular room was on the 5th floor and nice and quiet. Small but still plenty of room for a single traveler. 4. The dinner in the Fox Ballroom was great! 5. Snack stations were provided during the conference and the choices were very nice. 6. Dining in the Q dining are was good too especially for cafeteria-style options. Breakfast in particular was good - they had chia pudding! 7. Plenty of spaces around the conference areas to work with colleagues was very nice. 8. Options for workingout whether it was the class offerings or the fitness center itself - you will not be disappointed. Overall a great stay and I would be happy to return!

The Oscar Swan provides a unique experience and high value. Nina operates "old school" - pen and paper and no credit cards (she takes checks and cash). This keeps the value high. Her menu options are extensive and this allowed us to design a menu for our party. The location is incredibly beautiful and well maintained. And parking is ample making it easy for all of our guests. She provided silk floral arrangements to match our color scheme that everyone thought were real. Her linens, glassware and other table service are beautiful and add to the charm of the venue. The owner, Nina, is beyond fabulous. She was so kind, attentive and made us feel at home. Upon arrival we had the place to ourselves and Nina told us to head upstairs and pick out our rooms! EVERY room is beautiful. The decor throughout is curated perfectly for the property. We stayed with another family, kids in tow. The kids had a blast running around the property and playing in the pool. The gardens are gorgeous. The front lawn is bigger than a football field - perfect for frisbee! We woke up in the morning to a table set outside and the BEST breakfast spread you could ask for. Pancakes, amazing eggs, toast, banana bread, potatoes, fruit, and perfectly cooked bacon. I can't emphasize enough how gorgeous the setting is, how at home we felt and just all around grateful and happy we were to be there. We had a quick peek at the event space - it's fabulous!!! Not to mention we had cold water to shower with and in the whirlpool tub to use on Saturday. I asked the front desk if this was normal cause it's never happened before and we've stayed many many times here in the past but I will say this hotel has gone down a lot in past couple years. He said they had a two boilers for it one had broke down but just got to working again they think. Well it wasn't. I didnt think I'd be paying $800 for two dirty rooms with cold showers. We have decided not to ever come back to this location again. No one helped us just made excuses. Hotel is dated, they even used clear tape to hold up some of the wallpaper in the breakfast area. Also had a weird odor throughout the hotel. Ruined our valentines weekend stay out of the house that's for sure.
