My husband and I stayed here for three nights during our stay in the Czech Republic, based on recommendations from my friend that lives in the country. It's really easy to get here from the airport, just catch the Airport Express bus (it costs 60 koruna per person), get off at Namesti Republiky, and it's about a 5 minute walk to the hotel. The hotel itself is in a great location. There are lots of reasonably priced restaurants and grocery stores, and it's a 1 minute walk from a huge mall. You can easily walk from here to Charles Bridge, or even to the train station (took us about 15 minutes with a large suitcase).
The hotel itself feels dated with its burgundy carpets and dated walls. However, the front desk staff are nice and are more than willing to offer suggestions on places to eat, how to get to every tourist attraction, etc. I was amused because the key to the room and the key to the safe in the room are actual keys (no digital locks to be found here!). The room itself was a nice size, with a fantastic bathroom, tv, and free wifi.
The hotel also comes with a free breakfast buffet every morning. It is definitely the most interesting buffer selection I've seen. They have the typical toast, yogurt, fruit, and their version of bacon, but they also have a lot of "dinner" selections. I indulged in couscous, fusilli with goulash, and baked chicken pasta throughout my stay. Go earlier in the morning to get a better selection at the buffet, especially if you want a larger selection of fruit.
One complaint I have about the hotel is that while there are non-smoking rooms, they are surrounded by smoking rooms. We stayed in a non-smoking room, but we could smell cigarette smoke every single morning. My husband is allergic to cigarette smoke, so it wasn't the most pleasant experience every morning. However, smoking is very prevalent in the Czech Republic, so this might be inevitable regardless of which hotel you stay in. Another complaint is that you could hear the train that passes by outside when you were sitting in the hotel room, but we didn't have a worse sleep because of it.
Also, on a quirky note, we never could manage to get wifi to work on our cell phones in the hotel room, but the wifi worked great on our iPads. Definitely quirky.
I really liked this hotel for its location, and would recommend it to people who are looking for a place to stay in Prague. It's a bit quirky, but I definitely do not regret staying here. read more
