LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION... smack dab in the middle of the Gran Via, which is the main shopping area of Madrid. It's a lively strip, filled with tons of shops, restaurants, bars, hotels, and clubs within walking distance. You'll definitely feel the hustle and bustle of the city, as the streets are packed late into the night. Plus Puerta del Sol is only a short 5 minute walk South of the hotel, which is literally the center of Spain. It's a great area filled tons of places to eat, shop, drink, and sightsee.
The hotel is located on a side street about 2 block west of the Gran Via metro station, so it's very convenient to just hop on a train and get to the many different parts of Madrid. The location is probably the only plus side, as the rooms weren't that great, but that wasn't a big deal for me as I wasn't on vacation in Madrid just to stay in my room.
You can tell the rooms are quite old, with tube TVs from the late 90s and older decor. The main issue I had was with the bathrooms. The first room I got had an awful sewage smell coming from the bathroom. I settled on the second room they got me, which had a toilet that didn't work too great.
They have great amenities, with free wifi (with decent speeds), lounge, upscale sushi restaurant, and a gym. They also have the tiniest elevators I've ever seen, as one is cut diagonally and can literally fit only 3 people.
The staff was very friendly and most importantly, the price was just right for the area. read more
