Never being to Europe before, I was faced with choosing a hotel in Venice for our one night stay on November 1. Since we were only there for a night we decided to splurge a bit and get a room with a canal view. Most of these rooms are pretty pricey but since Hotel Arlecchino isn't in the center of everything it was a bit cheaper ($175 USD), breakfast included but we decided to sleep in and skip breakfast.
We got there by train, the train station is in town which was very convenient. If you have luggage take a water taxi or ferry to the hotel, if you have no bags its a short walk to the hotel.
Good, quiet, safe location on the canal. With plenty of restaurants just steps away. All the shopping, restaurants, and attractions are with in walking distance.
The staff was very friendly and spoke English very well. The room keys weigh a lot and are huge and clunky, so the staff will hold it for you whenever you come and go.
The hotel had a quaint Venice feel without looking old. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was big too, the only strange thing was the tub/shower had no shower curtain or door, so water splashed all over the place. We had two large windows that open up to beautiful view of the canal. Bonus... Italian beer in the mini bar, yum!
I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone planning to visit Venice. read more
