Clean updated rooms same layouts as former hotel. I love love the three huge sculptural anthracite chunks of coal in the lobby. Lovely lobby seating and dining is sufficiently appetizing. Full bar, covered self parking, and centrally located. For a small town hotel it's quite nice. We return for family reunions and it works out nicely.

    Very nice ADA accomodations!

I am impressed with the red carpet rolled out to veterans and their families at this establishment! At check-in, Dana was so helpful with information for an enjoyable stay. This beautiful hotel in charming Carbondale is one of Settler Hospitality Group's family members. Parking is perfectly situated behind the hotel, with a strolling opportunity from parking lot through a courtyard to the lodging and bar on one side, and a conference room on the other side. The rooms are lovely. Disability access rooms left ample moving space. The decor of this establishment is gorgeous. Enjoy food at an onsite steakhouse or room service. Quick food is available in the cafe. We enjoyed complimentary overnight accommodations and a hot breakfast. What a thoughtful, generous way to thank veterans for their military service. Thank you for a memorable time! Thanks to Settler Hospitality and Camp Freedom!

We did love the onsite steak restaurant, Kol, and ended up eating in the courtyard one night and having room service the next.

Bored with the generic, impersonal and warehoused experience of the chain hotels? Looking to…read moreexperience an environment that truly feels like home on the road? If so, I'd highly recommend you book a room at the Heritage House on the Park Bed and Breakfast for your stay in the valley. From the time you step foot in the ornate and immaculate entrance, you're transported to a lodging experience that remininces a simpler but more comfortable time. Tastefully decorated to match the Victorian style of the archetecture, each room is private, comfortable and feels like home. There are no issues with cleanliness or comfort in any area. The amentities rival or exceed any offered by hotel chains. In a word and in every area, Heritage House on the Park is comfortable! This was the first time in my extensive business travels that I've slept comfortably and soundly all night... every night! I'm confident you'll do the same. Heritage House's hostess and proprietor (Darlene) is intuitively descrete, engaging and helpful. Unlike many bed and breakfasts, at no time did I feel encumbered by lack of privacy or have that "boarder" feeling so common to bed and breakfast stays. My privacy was respected, and Darlene effectively seemed to sense what would make the stay pleasurable and memorable. For example, I was served a personalized continental breakfast each morning with fresh fruit, a custom baked pastry and good coffee. Conversation is free and easy and Darlene is immensly knowledgable about the sights and shopping opportunities in the area. In short, I'd highly recommend the Heritage House on the Park bed and breakfast for your next stay in Carbondale, the Lackawanna Valley or your visit to the Poconos. Your trip won't be complete unless you do!

This place was largely a mystery before we dropped in. All we knew, we saw on Facebook. We're glad…read morewe stopped in. First off, there was a cutout of Donald Trump in the corner of the bar, and the owner and another patron were discussing politics. I don't enjoy politics with my meals, whether I agree or not. As far as cons, the menu is pretty small. There are about 15 appetizer options and a similar number of sandwiches. There's pizza. 1 steak option. Half a dozen or so seafood options and 4 pasta options. There were also I think 4 desserts. The place was not at all busy; at 6 p.m., we were the first customers. There was a TV on in the bar and Elvis music in the dining room, and the two overlapped, which wasn't great. Neither of us used the bathroom, but judging by the size of the door and the corner they were crammed into, porta-potties may be more spacious. No verdicts on the bar or desserts, we didn't order any of these. Now for the pros: this place is run by an elderly couple who have clearly been doing this a while. He waits tables and tends the bar, she cooks. He took very good care of us but didn't hover. I had rigatoni with meatballs and the hubby had angel hair with meatballs. Both meals came with soup or salad and bread for $16.95. I had the salad, simply dressed with oil, garlic, and red wine vinegar. Hubby had the Italian wedding soup, which was clearly home made and he enjoyed it. While the noodles were standard prepackaged fare. I liked the meatballs more than the hubby; they were tender and decent sized and well-seasoned. Our meals came with two meatballs, and really, a third one would have been more proportional to the quantity of pasta. But the sauce! This was sauce to write home about. It was rich and smooth, not overly seasoned or sweet marinara. Hubby rated it a 9 out of 10, saying that better sauce could be out there, but he hasn't had it. There was also enough sauce. They didn't skimp. And the pasta was well cooked and well drained so it didn't water down the sauce. The bread in a basket with butter was a welcome addition that came with our meals. All in all, the experience wasn't perfect, but it was good. Politics aside, consider stopping in if you're in the area.
