Upon arrival, the doorman/bellhop gives you a warm greeting and opens the tall doors for your entrance into the lobby. The front desk folks are extremely informed about their historic and beautiful city of Florence. For a smallish lux hotel, the lobby is spacious with thick fabric accents, brass accents, and marble topped tables. The next afternoon, and after walking around the city square, we stopped at the lobby bar for a bottle of Pinot Noir. A relaxing experience after an educational tour of the nearby sites and museums. Our room was comfortable and spacious for a boutique hotel in the city-center. We had an interesting view of the city life on Via del Giglio. Our large king-bed induced rest and sleep. I recall taking naps in the afternoon to take short pauses from exploring the historic city. The bathroom is large enough to accommodate two people simultaneously. All the notions you require are provided in the bathroom. Our rate included daily breakfast, which had lots of traditional breakfast item options. Oh, and the bread, pastry, coffee, and juice selection is quite good. Italy knows sweets and coffee for sure. The service is friendly and warm in the main breakfast area. Florence has become one of my favorite cities to revisit. Yes, I would stay at Palazzo Gaddi again. I'm a fan.

The lobby is a gorgeous grand space with a fantastic marble top bar and plush lounge with cocktail tables and couches. The scent is intoxicating as you enter smelling the scent of vanilla and musk. Just entering the lobby you know immediately that this hotel is built for a luxury experience. Our room was huge by Italian and European standards. We had a plush king sized bed with a bounty of luxurious down bedding and pillows. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and we loved it! The heavy curtains ensured that the room was very dark for sleeping even if you take a mid day nap. With the curtains open it's easy to gaze out over the busy Florentine streets. We slept like royalty here! The room had a desk with a welcome gift of Vinsanto and biscotti cookies. This was a nice touch of a local treat. It was delicious. The armoire had a mini bar well stocked, hangers, a safe, hair dryer and a clothes steamer. The bathroom is exceptionally well appointed. All toiletries were included even things like toothbrushes, shower caps and feminine hygiene products. There was a bidet with all necessary ph washes and drying towels. The bathtub is deep and easy to either shower or take a nice hot bath. My favorite thing was the towel heater and drying rack. This not only dries out towels quickly but stepping out of the shower and wrapping yourself in a warm cozy towel is divine! Every detail is thoughtfully captured. The hotel was centrally located, and it's one of the more modern, elegant hotels we've stayed at during our trip. The Duomo and Piazza Santa Maria Novella were steps away from the hotel, and it's a less than 10 minute taxi to the train station. Their complimentary breakfast was amazing. They offered a huge variety of items including hot food, tortes, cereals, fruit, cheeses, parfaits, quiches, etc. I enjoyed a latte every morning with them. Our room at Hotel Spadai was excellent. Very spacious with tall ceilings and had plenty of room for us to lay out 2 large pieces of luggage and 2 small carry-ons. The bathroom was big as well, but the shower was disproportionate to it. The shower felt so much smaller, and what's weird was its two double doors. The doors met at the corner of the shower and didn't close all the way, so water could easily escape to the floor. Other than that, I would 1000% stay at this hotel again next time I'm in Florence.

It is clean and comfortable, we were a party of 3. With 2 people in a king size bed and a separate room for the 3rd person. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Complimentary breakfast included in our reservation. I was not thrilled with the location and a times even during the day it felt kind of sketchy with numerous people loitering aound the area. The next morning I informed the front desk (a short bearded man was on duty). This hotel personnel was extremely and very unbecoming for someone in the hotel business. He was very arrogant and kept asking me if I wanted to room conditioning system to be on or not. It was obvious from his monitor that the system was off. So I asked him to turn it on and without even an apology for system being off, he arrogantly brushed me off. This hotel needs to understand better how to treat the hotel guests.

I would strongly recommend that the hotel develop clear directions on how to reach it from the train station and that these directions be shared with clients at the time that the reservation is confirmed. I ended up going around in circles in the heat, dragging a suitcase. Not fun. All in all, I suspect that this property compares favorably to other three star small hotels. It's location can't be beat although if it's the Uffizi that you are after, are after, it's a bit of a walk. It's also not a great place if you have mobility issues. Cars cannot drive up to the front door, which means again, dragging a suitcase, down two blocks to catch a taxi to the airport. The cobblestones are hard on the suitcase wheels. And don't think we have had truffle that blew our mind elsewhere after (including Michelin two and three stars). I can taste the chefs mastery of the ingredients. No dish was overly complicated but each ingredient and sauce just complemented each other perfectly. You feel like you are in the forest where the food comes from. It's one of the meals I remember the most vividly, even after 4 years. Even on our culinary journey throughout Italy, this was a clear highlight.
