Pros - Overall prices aren't bad, a bit pricy for some things, but they have great deals and a not-too-bad rewards program, when it works. - Specialty pizza- some of their specialty pizzas are good (Girl Next Door, Porky the Pie, HotBox...) - Consistent quality overall Cons - Can sometimes be very slow for delivery, or not offer it at all (might be because of shortage, but who knows) - Forgotten items (have ordered a few times, and driver has forgotten one item or another. I received and observed exceptional service at HotBox, which was a welcome surprise. The cashier staff member greeted everyone who entered the door with a "Welcome to HotBox" statement. The cashier also took time to explain pizza ingredients to people new to the United States who appeared to have never eaten pizza. The cashier's friendliness and patience was noted. The pizza is good for college town eating. I tried the new thin crust and it was hot and tasty. The takeaway drink cup is reusable, and they commission new designs and colors every so often. I stopped by Hot Box around 1pm on a Sunday. I got the lunch box with pepperoni pizza and nacho cheese sauce for the stix. It was delicious!! The food was out so quickly and was hot. The sticks are my favorite thing. They have a garlic salt on top of them and are delicious. I could easily eat bags of them. As for the safety, there is no dining in. They have rearranged the tables and chairs to create a good flow for people. All the staff wore masks. I would eat here again with no hesitation! read more

Pretty average pizza in the grand scheme of all pizza places but is a step above your typical college campus pizza. We ordered a late night pizza with artichokes, feta and pesto, which was, first of all, kind of cool that they had that. Crust was average and the ingredients tasted fresh. A little on the greasy side but perfect if you've been drinking. Breadsticks equally average- very fluffy on the inside but the flavor was nothing to write home about. Walked into this place and didn't hear any punk music playing at all, it was all alterinative music. No biggie would have been nice to hear some Authority Zero, Dead Milkmen, the Clash or something. The girl at the cash registior was very helpful and made sure I got the best deal possible We got a large cheese bread and a large pepperoni and sausage pizza along with some pizza sause and cheese sauce the cheese sauce was a jalp. cheese sauce that was good, the cheese bread was decent but the pizza was amazing! The crust was so good! I hardly ever eat the crust of my pizza because most of it taste like cardboard, but this crust was on a level by it's self (the old school crust) the pep was good and the sausage was extremley good, I could see myself getting addictied to this place, I think I'm already hooked, great little pizza parlor. read more

Hotbox Pizza is the best kept secret in West Lafayette. Make sure to go there for their lunch specials and during the daytime hours - you can pick two choices including salad, breadsticks, or pizza. Make sure to get the breadsticks as one of your options - you get a bag with like six to eight breadsticks in it. That alone would be an amazing deal. The menu is affordable and all the food is fresh and delicious. They also have seasonal pies; the summer pie is my favorite. The cups are an extra fun part to this place. After a LONG drive to Purdue we were looking for a place that was open for lunch at 3PM. After being turned away from 3 restaurants, we spotted Hot Box. We were starving and short on time, so we thought- why not? Wow! This pizza was thin and crispy (although you can also get the thicker hand tossed) with tasty sauce and just the right amount of cheese. The veggie toppings were fresh and they used sweet Spanish onions- nice touch. If you find yourself in the area- do yourself a favor and stop in and try a pizza! read more

Hot box pizza is the definition of average. I could end my review right there. There isnt anything about hotbox that distinguishes it from any of the other half-dozen pizza places scattered around W. Lafayette. In fact, I can only think of two things to mention. #1: the thin, little, spicy, crispy pepperonis are excellent #2: their breadsticks are abnormally thin UPDATE: 5/24/15 Hotbox has sort of become my default pizza place. It didn't really achieve this position by being fantastic. Although the pizza is pretty good - it has the fresh ingredient local pizza-joint flavor that I enjoy, it isnt spectacular. It's merely "pretty good." The reason Hot Box became my go-to pizza place is really by being the lesser of evils. The competing pizza places are all so problematic that Hot Box wins by default. Pizza hut and Dominos are disgustingly greasy and taste like plates full of plastic preservatives. One chain that I like a lot is Papa Johns, but their customer service and pricing is horrible. No matter how much they try to goad me into it, I'm simply not going to pay $25 for one pizza. Thus, Hotbox, the dark horse has managed to win the local pizza wars. There are quite a few things that I have come to like about Hot Box. The breadsticks, though unhealthy, are surprisingly delicious - especially with the trans-fat laden nacho cheese dipping sauce. Each of the three crust choices satisfy a different particular craving. The thin crust is fantastically light and crispy(though not very filling.) The "hippie crust' is rich and flavorful. Aside from the overall quality and freshness of the pizza, the decisive factor that helped give hotbox the winning push towards victory was: the pizza of the week deal. This promotion, found on the store's website gives 50% off a different specialty pizza each week. It's a very good discount, which brings the price of a large pizza down to a very reasonable price of $8ish. Overall, it really is the best value in town. read more

This is a great place to eat a pizza. It has an punk feel, from the tatooed and friendly staff to the background music. The menu is pretty creative- several types of sauce instead of just plain tomato, and you can get a whole wheat crust which tastes great and makes you feel healthier in some small way. The Big 10 Bargain is a pretty good deal for two people, especially over the summer. Oh, and the breadsticks! Sometimes I just stop in to buy a sack of breadsticks- they are very garlic-y, very salty, and very delicious. The cheese and marinara sauces are both great for them. read more

Only receives a 5 because this is the only pizza I will eat in the Lafayette area. First off, pizza recommendation- Alfredo sauce (though it also works with normal marinara sauce), pinnacle and spicy pepperoni. Their dough is surprisingly good, so if you don't like their pizza try out their breadsticks. I'm not crazy about the atmosphere but what really gets me for a place that attempts to look hip and trendy is their lack of recycling. When you order a drink you get a fairly large hard plastic cup. If you don't want to take it home it just goes in the trash. When I brought this up I was told that there at many uses for the cup in my home like keeping paintbrushes or pens etc... I'm sorry I'm not interested in a collection of hotbox cups and they should really start recycling. read more

Hot Box pizza is great. Besides the array of choices for pizzas these friendly folks put up with a lot of crazy people on bicycles, me being one of them. Critical Mass- a monthly ride involving usually 50+ people on bicycles, meets here. Cars will honk as they see you on the curb, pizza in one hand, straddling your bicycle. The pineapple pizza is my absolute favorite, and they even deliver quickly to all of the dorms on campus. Always a plus - especially when it's snowing and you're craving pizza.
