I did not have the same experience that Jacqui had in this place but I still wouldn't go more than three stars. The staff was pleasant but they are still kids. That aside, they a huge selection of clothing. I have not seen this much clothing in any other location. They had a normal selection of candy like the other stores and some other misc items. If you are looking for rock shirts or the typical clothing that Hot Topic offers, this is a great location.

Their stuff is a little pricey, but they also have discounts if you buy two or more of the same item based on the brand. Let's see how the visit went. During my time there, I was the only customer. The store clerk was available for any questions I had for items. My purchase ended up being 2 pairs of jeans which cost just less than $150. Jeans aren't cheap so I already knew the cost would be high. It took some time trying out different sizes, but I was satisfied with my choices. DXL came through for me big time with my purchases. They'll continue to be an option for shopping. Till next time :)

Their big and tall area normally has clothes that would fit better on a hippo. Thank God for DXL Destination XL in Newport News, VA! This place is AMAZING! We walked into a very clean and well stocked store with some of the top name lines of cloth that fit us tall and slim guys. They have brands name from Michael Kors to Ralph Lorean to Gucci, Niki, Levi the whole nine yards. We were greated by everyone in the store. Katherine waited on us asking what we where looking for. I told her I was looking to build my church causual wear and I wanted some khaki pants. She showed us a wide selection that fit perfect. They even take the time to do attorations if needed and they put permanent cresses in your pants if you want. The store was amazingly clean and it smelled wonderful! They had everything a big guy wants from summer to fall and winter clothing. Shorts, tees you name it they had it! Now you may think its a little pricey but you are getting top quality clothing. They even gave us cold water to drink while we wated for the cresses to be put on! This place is 10 stars in my opinion and I will be back!

If you're planning a wedding, I strongly recommend taking your business somewhere else…read more We got married yesterday, and what should have been a simple process of getting suits and tuxedos turned into months of unnecessary stress, repeated trips, incorrect measurements, missing items, and poor customer service at the Men's Wearhouse in Newport News. My husband and his brother first went in around February 2026 for our October wedding. The first employee who helped them was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely helpful. Unfortunately, that level of service was the exception--not the rule. A few days later, I went into the store simply to find out what colors they had chosen. The employee helping me couldn't figure out how to look up the order on the computer, and another employee was rude and refused to help. I wasn't asking for anything complicated--I just wanted to know the color scheme. Somehow, even that became a frustrating experience. Then came my father-in-law's tuxedo. He was measured by a younger female employee who barely seemed interested in the process. While he tried on the clothes, she sat at her computer and barely paid attention. When they returned about two weeks before the wedding, nothing fit correctly. Another employee couldn't even determine who had originally measured him because the sizing was so wrong. They re-measured him. Then they made another mistake. During the second fitting, they apparently took back items that were supposed to remain with us because they fit correctly. So when we returned again, we were missing shirts, ties, shoes, etc. They had to do another fitting, create another order, and rush everything. At this point, our wedding was days away. Two days before the wedding, we returned AGAIN. Thankfully, an older female employee stepped in and actually cared. She was visibly frustrated by the situation and went above and beyond to fix problems that should never have happened in the first place. She pulled items off the sales floor, searched the back for shoes and laces, and did everything she could to get us what we needed. She was one of only TWO employees throughout this entire experience who provided the level of customer service you would expect from a business handling wedding attire. And then there was another employee who, during that same visit, ignored us for 15-20 minutes despite not helping anyone. We made eye contact at one point, and he literally turned around and walked into the back. When another customer walked in, suddenly he was able to greet and assist them. The groomsmen experienced many of the same issues--incorrect measurements, missing items, wrong items, and repeated trips to the store. After the wedding, my husband returned the rentals and explained everything to the employee at the counter. He explained that multiple members of the wedding party had experienced similar problems. The response was essentially, "At least everything worked out for the wedding." That response perfectly summed up the problem. Yes, technically, everyone had clothes on for the wedding. But that doesn't erase the weeks of stress, wasted time, repeated trips, mistakes, rushed orders, and frustration caused by this location. "It worked out" should not be the standard for a business handling someone's wedding attire. Weddings are stressful enough without wondering days before the ceremony whether the groom's father and entire wedding party will actually have properly fitting clothing. I want to acknowledge the two employees who genuinely helped us--they were professional, compassionate, and went out of their way to fix problems created by others. Unfortunately, they couldn't make up for the overall experience. If you're getting married, save yourself the headache. Go somewhere else. I would NOT recommend the Men's Wearhouse in Newport News for a wedding party. The mistakes, lack of communication, inconsistent customer service, and complete lack of urgency until the last minute are simply not worth the stress.

I used to be a frequent shopper here when I had to wear suits daily and traveled to the burg often. They still carry the top quality brands such as Barbour, Burberry, Duck Head and others, even the salesman is a legend having worked at the shop since the 1980's. I was looking for some trousers and recalled they carried Bill's Kakis. I tried on a pair that was from the same manufacturer. A 36/34 was a perfect fit on the waist, but needed the length taken in. They still offer free in-house tailoring services. The no pressure sales makes purchases easy. The gentlemen working the shop no the business inside and out. Due to the fact everything they carry is quality materials with exceptional services they are pricey. In my opinion worth the price point. It's literally impossible to find these shops. They will mail your alterations for a fee, or you need to do in store pick up. Turn around is typically within the same week. However, if a rush is needed let them know. Fantastic shop and great memories.
