Grace greeted us with a smile and took us to our table. We were really tired after a long travel day and didn't feel like leaving the hotel to go and find dinner. As we hadn't really eaten much all day, we were starving, so the two of us shared a Cobb Salad with honey mustard, Shrimp Primavera, and Chicken Parmigiana. We were shocked at how big the portions were. Not only were the portions ginormous, but, each entree tasted really good. The Cobb Salad was fresh without any wilted greens. It was chock full of Romaine lettuce, hardboiled eggs, onions, tomatoes, olives, bacon bits, and perfectly grilled sliced chicken breast. The Chicken parm was perfectly cooked, chicken was nicely seasoned and breaded, and the sauce was perfect. The Shrimp Primavera was chock full of large shrimp, bell peppers, olives, onions, mushrooms, and yummy sauce. No complaints about any of the food. Everything was super tasty. Grace was awesome as our drink glasses never went dry, was very attentive with us, and was very efficient and friendly while taking care of us. This was such a nice experience. Not very often that I can rave about a hotel restaurant.

PARKING valet is available, but we found street parking on ventura blvd. FOOD 01. squash blossoms ($21 for 5 pc): 8.3/10 these were crispy and light, delightful to eat on their own without the tomato marinara sauce served on the side. casalena's squash blossoms had a strong, lovely hint of lemon that wasn't present in mother wolf's rendition. 02. chicken piccata ($29): 7.5/10 this main was served with a generous helping of potatoes mashed into a delicious velvet. 03. vodka lumaconi ($25): 9/10 this dish was the standout of the evening! the pasta shells were cooked al dente and coated in a slightly spicy, perfectly savory vodka sauce! casalena does not skimp on the sauce in any of their dishes! 04. tagliatelle ($29): 7/10 this pasta dish was not nearly as impressive. 05. tiramisu ($15): 7/10 since we mentioned the dinner was for a special occasion in our reservation, this dessert was served with a candle. while its presentation was lovely, its taste was underwhelming. the espresso was extremely subtle, and there was more madeline than mascarpone/cream. overall, our party of 4 was fully satiated after splitting 1 appetizer, 3 mains, and 1 dessert. service was lovely throughout! and as another yelpie mentioned in their review, their matchbook is very nice.

You can never find your server. Staff all have an attitude problem. There no parking. I honestly hate to leave reviews like this, but this place SUCKS! Oh if you want to go out for a date? Don't come here! When the entire place is a full house you can't even hear yourself think. Sounds like a school assembly! If you want cold food, & rude staff come here. I'll never COME BACK! You have to pay me to come here Lol.

The entire staff treated us like family and put us in a high mood. Even had the food been simply okay, I would have liked the restaurant for the friendliness alone but I am pleased to report the food is fantastic! The garlic bread is buttery, well flavored, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The salad was a great starter with tasty dressing. My husband ordered the shrimp creole which he found to be fresh and flavorful. I had the eggplant rollatini which was delicious, especially the cheesy filling. A wonderful dining experience at very reasonable prices. We cannot wait to go back and take all our friends & family in the future!

Attentive, genuine, and made us feel truly taken care of from start to finish. The food was incredible--everything tasted like a home-cooked meal, full of flavor and clearly made with care. Simple sandwich, but everything tasted really fresh and balanced together perfectly. I liked that they didn't drown it in condiments either, so you could still taste all the meats and cheese. The oil and vinegar gave it that classic deli flavor and the bread held everything together really well without getting soggy. Definitely one of those sandwiches that doesn't look super fancy, but once you start eating it you realize why people keep coming back.

The owner of the deli was very generous and very kind. He made a unique dish with elk meat and it was extremely delicious. I ended up ordering a eggplant dish and I really enjoyed it. I had previously had their sugary powder jelly cookies. They were very good. I had tried them a couple years ago. This time I also tried their coffee. I believe it was a cappuccino. I don't think you had any sugar, but it was so good. Their other sandwiches look very tasty. I saw a few people eating there. It seems like they have lots of regulars. Made from scratch daily!…read more Wow, everything we had here was amazing. We came by on a Sunday around 4:30pm and they were already out of a few items, so do come early to make sure you can order your first choice. Sadly, two of the main dishes we actually wanted to try were 86'd for the day , but I guess that just means they are THAT good (the Sunday Night Lasagne and Ricotta Cavatelli) Ok so first off the restaurant itself is very pretty and open. The bar area which allows you to sit on either side- indoor or outdoor is a nice touch. For the appetizers, we tried the calamari and the grilled bread (they were out of house made focaccia). For $5 you can add a side of whipped ricotta topped with pistachios, honey, balsamic, olive oil. GET THIS! Delicious. The calamari was also very good- super light crispy batter. For the entrees, we ordered our second choice items- Spicy Rigatoni Vodka and strozzapreti. The pasta is FRESH and cooked perfectly. The flavor profiles on both also hit the mark The margherita pizza is also good- the dough is thin and not too saucy. Just right! If you are going to order dessert, you must order the butter cake. It's seasonal so they switch it up about every three months but I have no doubt that whatever version they have it will be a winner. This time is Banana caramel and OMG sooo good. That buttery caramel stole the show- not too sweet. This was a crowd favorite. Will definitely need to come back to try our first choice items and honestly I hope it's soon!
