I…read morehad an appointment booked with Hot Rod Piercing a few months ago and ended up cancelling because work was crazy/holidays were coming up, etc. Anyway - one of my favorite humans said she was getting hers pierced last weekend so I tagged along to get mine done too (unnamed tattoo shop). I was soooo excited. The piercer there had a difficult time getting the needle through my nose, and the L shaped ring too (ouch). But! It was done. My nose was pierced. And I loved it! My nose started to swell real bad and it was sinking way down into my nose by the 2nd day. Day 3 it was even more swollen and I had to "prop" the ring up with a tissue to keep the stud out of the hole. Without the tissue it just sank further into my new piercing. Day 4 I woke up and had a panic attack. The ring completely disappeared inside of my nostril. I tried to pull it out myself because I was sick to my stomach and just over it. It wouldn't come out! I legit considered going to the ER to have to removed. I was positive there was no way to get that ring out. Naturally I start Googling. Different sites and forums said to go back to the piercer so they can fix it and change the jewelry if needed. No way I was going back to that tattoo shop. At this point, the entire right side of my face hurt so bad. I thought for sure I had an infection. I Googled Hot Rod's hours.. they opened at 12pm. It was only 10am. I called them as soon as they opened and was told I could just walk in and they'd squeeze me in between appointments. I picked my new ring and Tanner took me back a few minutes later. Tanner was AMAZING. He was so patient with me and explained everything before he did it. I laid back on the table and apologized in advance for crying because I knew getting out the ring I had was going to be super painful. I felt a little pressure and he had it out within seconds (& no tears! Lol). Let me tell you.. as soon as he was done, ALL of the pain and pressure I felt on the right side of my face was gone. My nose feels a million times better and the jewelry fits my swollen nose!! Turns out the wrong jewelry/size ring was used to pierce my nose. And it was bent. I knew the piercer at the unnamed tattoo shop had a difficult time getting it in, but had no idea she bent it. Long story short, I will never go anywhere but Hot Rod for any future piercings & jewelry purchases. Their jewelry selection is pretty awesome too! I will always recommend them to everyone. Tanner, if you see this.. thank you, thank you, THANK YOU. You are the best and I appreciate you so much!

Came out 1,000,000 times better than expected. Did a great job involving us throughout the journey; made us feel right as home. PROCESS- 5/5: I messaged them using Yelp because they were unavailable to answer the phone. Within minutes I got a response asking for more details on what I had in mind. After a couple back and forth we were encouraged to come into the shop and speak to Panther in person so we could make something happen. PRICING- 5/5: We sat down and discussed a vision, the cost came last. He's human just like the rest of us though so I'm 100% if you have a budget I wouldn't doubt you all can figure something out together. Never got the vibe of him being money hungry, charging more than what his work is worth, as many artists try to go. When we left I genuinely wished I had taken out more cash to tip him even more, he really deserved every dime I paid.

I am honestly stunned by how, like, aggressively rude she was for no reason that I could see. She asked what I was in for and when I told her, she had an immediate a negative reaction to the high nostril placement I wanted. I was asking questions to understand because I don't pierce for a living but she was being so vague and weird about it that it put me on edge right away. All she would say when I asked why she didn't recommend it was that they take longer to heal. I asked how long and she repeated "longer" so I tried changing my question to "longer than what" - again, legitimately just trying to ask a question so I could decide if I was up for an extended healing process - and she increased the volume of her voice and said "LONG-ER" as though I was hard of hearing or just stupid. That was it for me and I started to turn away/back out of the store when Nick came in from the back and said "we're not saying no, just want to make sure these can take several months to heal sometimes" and took over, thank god. No clue why she was so rude but if she had been the only person there I would have left and not gone back. Otherwise, the ship was clean and cute, conveniently located with plenty of street parking available, and had a nice array of jewelry to choose from. Nick took his time with the placement, had me check it out and agree, and was very good with the actual piercing itself. They are super expensive on the jewelry, which I was aware of from previous visits years ago, but I was looking at it as like a little fancy treat for myself. Totally ruined by Lindsay's nasty attitude and weirdly aggressive rudeness. If you wanna go, try to schedule with Nick and don't get put off by Lindsay. If not, a hundred other shops in the city can do the same level of service without the unwarranted bitchiness.
