I should preface this with the fact that we are regulars here. Probably 20 visits since they opened. We have a love hate relationship with hot pepper Thai. When it's good it's so very very good. But when it's bad....... They are incredibly inconsistent. Both with their flavors and more so with their spice levels. Their service is slow. They are constantly understaffed. Their workers argue with each other. Nothing about how they operate makes sense. But... when their food is good it's so very very good. If there were a better Thai option in the area, we would never return. Edit: Got our chicken pad Thai home. No peanuts, no tofu, barely any chicken. We are officially now done with Hot Pepper Thai.

The pieces of lettuce were about four inches square. Stupid.

Order took twice as long as they said. Waited for an additional thirty minutes. They bring the food out, but the bag looks too small for what we ordered. "Is the Thai Salad in there?" "Oh, uh, no. Good catch! You should work here!" Um, no. So the kid bagging the food didn't know how to make it, the cook was listing off random ingredients. Got it all home and the salad was missing the green onions and bean sprouts. The lettuce pieces were laughably enormous (see photo), like they were pulled off a head of iceberg lettuce. Not chopped. Just "here you go". The flavor of the food was great. The salad was a joke. The wait was inexcusable. Another customer waited so long she asked for her money back. Save yourself the trouble - avoid this place and go to Bangkok Thai Express on Dixie. They've been rocking it and getting orders right for a long time.

Update: so we have been trying to eat here again for a few weeks and can NEVER get through the phone lines, every time we have tried calling multiple times and no one ever answers. Tried one last time and I was calling for over a half hour and line was constantly busy- finally was done with my errands and drove by (when I would have been getting dinner) and place is empty- still no one answers the phone. I have double checked the number; guess they just don't want business? I'm sad because the food has always been good but I literally have not been able to order for months.

Pak 10. Pad Pak Lunch with tofu and red curry sauce instead of brown sauce. Yum!

I got the pad pak vegetable with tofu but I asked for red curry sauce instead of brown sauce. I liked all the veggies in the pad pak so they were very accommodating. Very nice flavor. Medium has a good kick but not too spicy. The soup they served for dining in at lunch was good too. It was like a hot and sour egg drop soup with veggies. I don't usually like hot and sour soup but this one had a nice taste.

Came here on a whim with my 3 teens. Service was great! Kind and helpful servers. Starter soup was hot and delicious. I ordered seafood coconut curry--mild pepper with just a bit of kick. Son got chicken satay. Nice sticky peanut sauce. Not too sweet. Tom Yum soup was a bit heavy on the onions but had chunky button mushrooms instead of shaved. Small bowl was the size of a full bowl in other Thai places. Crab Rangoon was sweet and slightly crispy. Pad Thai had big chunks of tofu & chicken with just the right amount of crushed nuts. We'de come back again!

I have eaten in & have had carry out. Good food & Fair prices. They do make more than their fair share of mistakes though. This is the second time I have gotten all the way home- and there is No Rice. Called, and they Said they were too busy to take of my call. So here I am at home, hungry, paid for dinner, which is getting cold while I cook my own rice. Ugggh Hungry & Sad

We waited 50 minutes for take out on a Tues night (highly recommend calling ahead, which in fairness, we had not). Our order was simple: one large Pad Thai & one Lettuce Wrap. The noodles were very, very salty, and near flavorless. The Lettuce Wraps? Not only were they not "wrapped", (not a big deal, but after waiting almost an hour, we thought they must be more labor intensive than a scoop of overly sweet and excessively salty meat filling in a plastic container), but the lettuce itself was so gross (brown, old, no crunch) that I would have discarded that quality from my own refrigerator. The young people behind the counter were understaffed, polite, and hustling. But the food was definitely not worth waiting for.

It's a fast food restaurant, dine in and out. Nice, clean, fast service. The drunken noodles, Pad thai and Pad ped(?) were all well served and delicious. The course size was also large enough for two people.

You guys ever get bad vibes at a restaurant. Went tonight to order pad Thai and a lettuce wrap. The staff used to be Thai. Now, the restaurant appears to be run by young Caucasian women. Bad omen #2, asked for tofu for my meat! I was asked 'fried or raw.' Please! Been eating Thai food longer than these kids have been alive, raw tofu in Pad Thai, never heard of it. Bad Omen #3 lettuce wraps were loose clumps of iceberg served on the side with some sort of chicken broth slop packaged in a plastic take out container! I was told that's the way they do it. Where do they do that? Not anywhere I have ever been. Down in Royal Oak, Clawson or Ferndale this place would be out of business! Catch the picture of what these Guys think is a lettuce wrap!

Food quality is not what it used to be. Very bland. New owners. Was my got to place for years but now I prefer Asian Cuisine on m59.

I didn't go too crazy with ordering since I'm a bit indecisive with food, but what I tried was fresh and tasty. I'd definitely be open to coming back again to try more. I mainly stopped by to ask about job opportunities. I had called before and was told they weren't hiring, but when I went in person, I was told they were hiring and that I needed to apply on the website. It was a little confusing getting mixed messages, but the staff was polite and helpful throughout. The main reason I was looking to apply here is because I don't have a car right now, and with my parents' busy schedules, it's hard to get to jobs that are far away. Pita Way is close by, so it seemed like a great opportunity. Whether I get the chance to work there or just stop in again for a meal, I'm glad I gave it a try and appreciate how kind the staff was! The only thing I'd note is the ambience it was a bit loud when I stayed to eat, and the seating could've been more comfortable or spaced out better. It wasn't bad, just average, and I think a few updates could make the space feel more welcoming. Whether I end up working there or just come back to try more food, I appreciate the kindness and the chance to try something new!

My wife and I ate here after having a splendid breakfast many months ago we thought we would return for dinner. They sat us by the bar there was no one else in the restaurant not sure why we had to sit next to the bar. We had other customers standing at the bar with her faces with their butts in our faces There were so many other better seats I should've said something but I didn't. We ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms, which on the picture it showed seven when it showed up there were only five mushrooms. What was missing the most was crab meat it was a literally a bunch a shake on top of barely stuffed mushroom. Mostly fancy sauce and a ton of bread crumbs to hide the lack of crab....for $17! My wife ordered a sandwich which she enjoyed I think it was a Reuben made out of turkey and I ordered a signature Smash burger. We both ordered french fries that looked like they had been sitting in the basket most of the day because they were cold, and we're starting to shrink from sitting out. By the time we were done, my bill was $90 after tipping the waitress paying their 3% rip off fee. We both were expressing discontent as we left through the parking lot. It has been a while since I had breakfast there, which I never read them for and would've given them a five for that but this menu was not that menu.
