Warm and dry inside on a rainy day. Such a wonderful café. High quality ingredients. Everything is delicious!

This is, in my humble opinion, the best café in Cambridge. Everything - from the coffee to the breads, to the pastries, to the savory menu -- is impressive. So much so that, despite having a Fitzbillies a few steps away, I bicycle across town for the high quality of the food and coffee. Definitely try their savory brunch staples and specials. You will not be disappointed. We tried the custard tarts (wow), two cakes (perfection), avocado toast (to die for), fluffy scrambled eggs and toast (bread is amazing here), buttermilk pancake surprise (so unusual, so good!), batch coffee and cappuccino (great coffees - all) and plain croissants (crisp). It's a lovely, calm space, too - just a few steps from the Fitzwilliam museum. Side note: GBBO finalist, Ian Cumming, bakes fabulous cakes for the café (like Elderflower and Strawberry, Sticky Toffee Pudding). Perfection: no surprise. Final note: It can get quite busy - especially on the weekends - so you may need to come early to get a seat! So worth it. Will be back again and again.

I cannot say anything bad about this place. During the summer, I was studying abroad at the University of Cambridge. Since most of my classes were in the Engineering Building and I lived a block away on Fitzwilliams, I always found myself here. The breakfast options are vast and are all pretty amazing. I had the avocado toast more times than I'd like to mention and I always loved adding salmon lox to the dish! It complimented the SLABS of avocado very well. I also had the matcha pancakes and those were as fluffy and decadent as can be! Surprisingly not too heavy, too! I also had the eggs and toast and I have no idea what they put on the eggs or the toast but they're the best things that I have ever had in my lifetime (I am still trying to get those flavors to this day!). I also have had the yogurt with granola. The yogurt is greek but not too sour so it was so good to me (I hate super sour yogurts). I can go on and on about the pastries as well. I loved the sausage, the little tarts, the brownies, cookies, EVERYTHING! No complaints about any of the food or pastries here! My favorite drink is the latte with oat milk and no honey. Bomb. Amazing. I am currently salivating!!!

Basic coffee nothing special. A good place to chill and study. a bit crowded and packed so not covid friendly not recommended to go during the pandemic.

It was a longer walk than I expected from Cambridge Station, but definitely worth every step. The line was long when we got in, and most of the cosy tables were already occupied. Managed to grab two seats at the long table. If you don't mind sharing them with strangers. There are outdoor seating as well, but it was drizzling that day. What a shame. I got myself a Latte, and a Matcha Pancake. I highly recommend the pancakes especially if you're vegetarian. It's packed with strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, kiwis, pomegranate, figs and oats. Drizzled with Nutella! It doesn't say on the menu thays it's Glutten Free. Its on the sweeter side and very filling too! You can see the 3D version of it here: https://sketchfab.com/models/e677f74b0b534bd288145d63aba346e6 This place is great for groups, babies are welcome too although it's a bit tight to park prams in here. Price wise is decent. You're looking around £10 per head for a nice meal. Breakfast starts from 07:00 - 12:00 Lunch starts from 07:00 - 15:00

Came in high spirits - left bored 'n' tired! Apart from the logo, this place was not worth the trip. Wannabe shop that's part gelato, part watering hole, part family hang-out with nannies. Counter girl was stuck up & prissy. Iced coffee tasted like dormitory dishwater. Came in same cup as hot brew, without a lid. It's all too much. Too much light. Too many poodles, cats, babies, furniture, grannies.. too much crap on the walls! Thought I'd get a pickup from a cute girl. Instead this place was tiring, dull, tasteless and unfriendly. When I'm in Cambridge it's usually because I'm drinking. I know that seems a bit insane, but when your partner is in a brass band, that's what you do. So after a long night out drinking, I am definitely in need of a morning pick-me-up. (Sometimes a pre-party pick-me-up as well). I've been to Hot Numbers three times now as we are usually staying at a hotel quite nearby. And all three times, I've been really happy with it. I usually get the pour over coffee because even though there are all these fancy ways to make it there (aeropress, syphon, espresso), I still prefer my coffee fairly old school: black, pour over coffee. And they do a really good job of it as well. (Okay once I went and they got distracted and my coffee sat there awhile and I had to "raise my voice" at them to make them give it to me, but I was hung over so not in the best of moods. But I still went back. So obviously I didn't care that much). They always have a massive selection of pastries there as well that I just want to devour, but I never do. Maybe next time.

You order by oz. no cortado/ cappuccino on the menu!

Crazy long wait times after ordering. Multiple people overheard complaining, including me, which took almost 40 minutes to receive my order.

Great coffee (yes one of the best in town) and absolutely love the not-too-sweet chocolate pistachio cake

We took a break here while spending the day walking around town. We were able to order lattes and hot chocolates and seat ourselves on their lounge sofas for a little while. The coffee was good, and most people seemed to be enjoying themselves, whether having a meal, or studying in small groups. I could definitely see myself hanging out here often. Cycle across nearby Parkers Piece, hang your bike on the wall, and enjoy a cup of coffee from their Cambridge Blue espresso machine!

We ordered an espresso, cafe latte and a lemon cheesecake. Cheesecake slice was a bit small, but not small enough to elicit protest of my wife. Flavor-wise it was unremarkable. The lemon flavor was there, but it was not prominent. I wish cheesecake was creamier and less sweet. It was certainly too sweet for our taste. Latte was small, served in what seemed an 8 oz glass. It was passable, but lacked flavor and was not better than a home made one, with Tesco ground beans. Sure, warm milk and caffeine are nice and comforting, but generally any other place in Cambridge can give you a latte equally good as this. Espresso was rather disappointing. It arrived flat, without crema, resembling a filter coffee more than an espresso. The beans used were good, but the extraction was faulty. The drink lacked depth in flavor and the taste dissipated in a few minutes. Espresso was served without side water. Generally, the food and drink are passable, but not exciting. I don't think I will come back soon.

Also got a slightly spicy and crisp coleslaw for a cool contrast and a minor dose of vitamins. My tablemates were also really pleased with their orders (a vaguely East Asian glazed chicken with pickled Banh Mi-style veggies and a cold roast beef with arugula--must try those next). Wow. Another reason to visit Cambridge.

Nice, high quality sandwiches. I actually went here two…read moredays in a row while staying in Cambridge. The first day I ordered two sandwiches, the Porchetta and the Jerk Chicken. The Porchetta sandwich has nice roasted pork and a crispy strip of pork skin to top it off. The description says it has a salsa verde sauce. To me, it was more like a pesto-style sauce. The pork was all meat and didn't have any globs of fat that you sometimes find in American pulled pork barbecue. The Jerk Chicken Sandwich was the weekly special. It consisted of several pieces of skin-on mostly dark meat chicken, house made slaw and I think a little mayo. I took off the chicken skin. It wasn't crispy and I don't care for much chicken skin. Even doing that, it had good flavor. A nice blend of spices and a little spiciness. I didn't eat it right away but it was still good. Like I said, I ordered this sandwich the next day. This time I ate it soon after ordering. The roll was still warm and slightly crunchy. I liked even more when eating it "fresh." I removed the skin on this one too. I used the take out window on the side and they were pretty quick, even though there were about four or five people in front of me. I'll definitely go back when in town and craving a sandwich.
