This establishment is the embodiment of "Ohio". Take that as you will. Since the menu had a wide variety of items, my friends and I decided to try everything. The hot dogs were exactly as advertised: hot dogs. They were pretty average, but nothing special. This is a disappointment seeing as the namesake of the franchise has "hot dog" in it. The french fries were decent. The burger was not great. Are you seeing a theme here? Onto the worse section of the menu. The mac and cheese was subpar, I would've preferred Kraft or Wacky Mac at home. Though nothing jumped out at us as "excellent" there was one item that might as well have been sent straight up from hell: The fish sandwich. Never in my life have I eaten something and felt like I was eating nothing. It was bland, it was grey, the tartar sauce was rancid and the bun was harder than concrete. Inedible. On the ride home to my cozy little attic apartment in NJ I had to stop FOUR (4) separate times to "use the bathroom" if that's what you can even call it. I left a trail of devastated toilets throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey on my trek home. The lemonade was great. Great atmosphere and service too, I should've bought merch. read more

This is new location of a well loved area hot dog restaurant chain that dates back to 1946. They are using the same ingredients and cooking recipes that made them famous. On this visit, I had an order of cheese fries and two chili/cheese dogs, and an unsweetened iced tea. The fries are cut fresh on-site and have that wonderful taste of they way they used to make them years ago. Salted just right. The hot dogs are Sugardale brand and taste great. The iced tea is freshly brewed... not from a tap, and it had good flavor. Looks like they also carry Pepsi products. The restaurant is nice and clean with plenty of room to sit down and enjoy your meal. The staff is very friendly and helpful. (Make sure to say hello to Michelle at the counter... she is very nice.). I see that they also have burgers and frozen custard milkshakes (and sundaes). I'll try those on my next trip. read more

I grew up in Warren with the original Hot Dog Shop. It was a Stapleton of my childhood. I moved out of state and even with living out of state, it was one of my first stops when I would come home. I recently moved back to Ohio. However, I live in Poland now. When I seen they were building this hotdog shop I was so very excited. It is right down the road from me and I get to share the same memories with my kids! They did not disappoint!!!! The service was great, I was greeted with a smiling employee eager to help me and share my excitement! Then I ordered my food and received it hot, fresh, and in a timely manner! As soon as I ate the first bite it was like being at the Hot Dog Shop in Warren that I grew up with!!! Also, they still have the cherry pop and malt vinegar! The only thing that I was sad to see is at this location it is set up more like a fast food restaurant. Instead of the wrap around counter and tables. I miss it being more of a restaurant than a fast food joint. Also, I did not see the hot sauces that were a Stapleton of Hot Dog Shop. However, the employees were on top of wiping the tables after every customer, it was super clean, and still a great place to take your family. The last time we went to the hot dog shoppe in Girard, OH, the service was terrible. This time, they got my husband's order wrong. He asked for a sausage and cheese breakfast sandwich and they put egg on it. And the prices have gotten ridiculous. Before they got bought out, the sandwiches were 2/$4 and 2/$4.50 on Fridays. Now 2 sandwiches are $7.27!! It's so ridiculous. Hot dog shoppe is supposed to be a place to get cheap food for the whole family but it's gone down hill. We won't be back unfortunately. read more

My family and I were there Saturday afternoon. Area where drinks and napkins were was dirty and messy, could have used a wipe down and trash removed. Our food was ok but all 3 orders of fries were barely warm/cold, not a big deal. We finished our food and our food and I let the cashier know about our fries. I didn't ask for new fries or a refund, simply letting them know. She had a rude response and walked away, turning a so-so experience into a never return one. I can't really complain for what it is. Hot Dogs are fairly priced, establishment is clean, service was ok. As far as will I be back.... No.... The food is ok but it's nothing that sticks out or makes it memorable. I stopped for the first time since they opened. so excited because I grew up in Warren and had been to the original one since the 1950s. I was very disappointed. I ordered a chili cheese dog, a small order of fries with sauce and a small chocolate shake. While driving home, I ate the fries. They tasted like frozen rather than the fresh cut I grew up with. The food is OK, not as good as Jib jabs in Girard. The reason for the two star review, is 100% because of the service, the people are always nice. However, it takes way too long to get food, and half the time something on the order is wrong. As a former yelp elite I just don't get around to writing as many reviews as I used to, but this praiseworthy experience was worth you knowing about. We used to drive to Girard for our semi weekly hotdog dinner night. The drivethru there can back up all the way to where the highway lets out, and it can take about an hour by the time you finally get your food. So far, that is not the case at this joint. You will have your food hot and ready to take home in less than 10 minutes. Of course we choose to take out with two toddlers, so the drivethru here is key. That being said, this is hands-down now my most favorite drivethru experience in the Boardman, Canfield, Poland area. The fries are excellent. What I especially like about the way they serve their hotdogs that is different from the other locations, as far as takeout goes, is that the toppings come on the side. So if you want to be less liberal about your onions, or relish, you get to choose, and adorn them yourself. Highly grateful that they have chosen a location near our home! read more

You couldn't get through the front door of this place when it opened for the first two weeks then all of a sudden the parking lot is empty all the time now I know why. We stop in to give it a try and was terribly disappointed way too expensive and food was horrible. They had 75% of the restaurant closed off to seating so obviously the crowds are a lot smaller than when they first opened. For it being a hotdog shop the options were very minimal.
