Spent a couple of nights here when I was in the process of relocating to Buffalo. Staff was great, the room was awesome, except for being inexplicably hot the first night. I needed a refund because I wasn't going to be spending a full 5 nights there, and it was taken care of with a minimum of hassle! It's located centrally in Buffalo, so if you are without a car it's great. If you do have a car it's a little more tricky, as if you want to save money, you have to move your car from the meters to paid parking before 8AM, and then back to the meters at 5PM. Other than that, I very much enjoyed my stay here, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive night in Buffalo.

This is THE BEST HOSTEL I have ever stayed at! I had hitched a ride with some friends to Niagara Falls/Toronto. We crossed the border back into the U.S. fairly late and I found that the hostel had emailed and called me, wondering if I was still showing up, since their check-in time was until 10:30. Though not explicitly encouraged or advertised, they do do late check-ins! I got in around 10:45pm, found a beautiful, huge, clean room with really high quality linens (as far as hostels go anyway). I took a shower (with a dedicated changing area!) and slept like a baby until 8am the next morning. In-room lockers are present, but they're only big enough for your essentials. Breakfast is coffee, tea and oatmeal (make your own). Tons of lounge space, pingpong, board games, a movie room, laundry and book exchanges everywhere including right next to my bed! Great wifi. Beautifully decorated. I was so surprised when the receptionist told me this hostel had been in business for 15 years! It looks more like 5 or less due to how nice and new everything looked. Although I was only there for a night, I kind of regret not staying another night just to meet travelers, use the hostel's amenities and explore Buffalo. Unfortunately I had already booked a non-refundable Greyhound ticket out of Buffalo. The bus station is about a 15 min walk (with 2 Tim Horton's along the way--how much better can life get?!). It was a bit eerie to walk there since no one seemed to be on the street, but this was Sunday morning at like 9am. Seriously the best hostel I have stayed in.

I needed a place to stay in Buffalo while I was waiting to get my apartment. Hostel Buffalo-Niagara was the perfect place! Very affordable and located right in Downtown, and very near a rail stop. Being new to the city, safety was my primary concern. When I first got there, front door had to be unlocked to get in. Nobody can just walk in. I liked that. Guest are given key cards to get in to their rooms, and the elevator or stairs. I liked the layer of security. Makes me feel safe from the cruel world outside! ;-) I chose an all-female room and had the chance to room with great roommates from all over the US and other countries. The room was clean, big and airy, with fans during hot days and A/C turned on during nights. The bunk beds were comfortable and the mattresses was firm. The bathrooms were always clean. The walls all over the building were decorated with interesting posters, pictures and murals. The kitchen was big and had all what you need. You can easily cook for a party in that kitchen! Plus free unlimited coffee, tea, and oatmeal. And there's always free stuff lying around - bread, cookies, cheese, even a full meal! There are two common areas where you can hang out, read a book, play board games, watch movies (they have great titles!) and play ping-pong. They have laundry and printing services as well. But what really made my stay unforgettable was the staff. They were so friendly, accommodating and helpful! Jonathan went the extra mile to give me tips about the city, told me about the history and interesting facts of certain places. And when it was time for me to go, he even called for my cab. I loved my stay at Hostel Buffalo-Niagara, and I recommend it to travellers who are in this interesting, artsy city of Buffalo.

No service the first day, which was fine, but we needed service the second day and asked for it in the morning at the front desk. We came back in the late afternoon and nothing had been done. (And no, we hadn't left the "do not disturb" sign on our door). We left for dinner and asked for service again, but were told that it may not be possible that late in the day. When we got back in the evening, we discovered that it had occurred, so that was great. However, the next day, we found that towels had been replenished but bed wasn't made. It wasn't a big deal, just kind of odd. The next day bed was made and towels replenished. Not a deal breaker, just unpredictable. Front desk staff wasn't the friendliest, but overall were efficient. Sundry shop could have used a wider range of selections as there is no bar or restaurant at the hotel. Would have been nice to have had some canned cocktails or wines and a couple more types of beer, perhaps a variety of cookies. Indoor pool and hot tub were very nice features of our stay. We enjoyed them daily. Clean. Hotel is walking distance from a couple of coffeehouses, a sports bar, and a some "local gem" restaurants, which was very nice. Not too far from Niagara Falls and other local points of interest, easily accessible by Lyft.

She told us lots about the property and gave us an excellent lunch recommendation too! Once we got into the room, it was perfectly decorated just like the common areas we saw upon entering. Shower pressure and quickness of the hot water was perfect! TV also worked perfectly! We enjoyed our visit so much that we'd return to the area just to stay at this hotel again! Highly recommend staying here when in the area! I average staying in 1.5 Marriott properties weekly and based on the poor and inconsistent service at many of them, I wish the management here would train the others on how to keep a property beautifully clean (this place has been here 7 years and it looks brand new still!) and how to provide great service!

The Inn is right in the heart of the village, with nice restaurants north and south on Elmwood. Intermixed are interesting shops and boutiques, cafes, and even a cool grocery store. A mile south is Allen Street and all its wares; a mile north is Buffalo State and the art museum. Hop on a one of those rent-by-the-hour bikes, and Canalside and downtown is a quick pedal away. Even more, there is easy access to the freeway that gets you to Niagara Falls quickly (I suggest Whirlpool State Park for an alternative trip; the hike to the bottom of the gorge is gorgeous). The Inn itself is clean, interestingly decorated and comfortable. The room we stayed in was large ... and my wife took advantage of the large bathtub to soak away a late evening while enjoying a glass of wine. There are snacks, toiletries, water and other small touches that made the stay very enjoyable. What isn't mentioned on the Inn's website prominently is the breakfast: they are delicious. The owner has worked in the restaurant industry as a chef, and it shows. There is a wide selection of healthy options (such as fruit, granola, yogurt) along with hearty meals, pastries, cheese, sausage, etc. And, perhaps most importantly, the coffee was great. One last thing: take advantage of the porch. There is an outdoor sitting area off the communal living room that provides a great place for enjoying coffee and a newspaper in the morning, and a delicious nightcap (perhaps with some Buffalo-style pizza) in the late evening. The people watching from the porch is also great (Elmwood Avenue is pedestrian-heavy throughout the day and evening). Anyway ... if you enjoy culture, food, people-watching, access and beautiful neighborhoods, you'll love this place.

I'm not entirely sure where to begin with this review because the experience was a mix of good…read moreintentions, disappointing execution, and consistently poor hospitality. Prior to my stay, I called the hotel twice on separate days requesting an early check-in. Having traveled quite a bit, I've learned it's always best to communicate these things in advance. During both calls, I was assured notes would be added to my reservation and that the staff would do their best to accommodate the request. However, during my second call, I was informed there were no notes on file at all. I asked if one could simply be added since I still had over 24 hours before arrival, and I was told someone would call me back within 2-3 hours to confirm. I never received that call. When we arrived on the day of check-in, unsurprisingly, the room was not ready. To their credit, they did offer complimentary breakfast and stored our luggage while we explored the area, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the issues only continued from there. Once entering the room, we noticed visible stains on the bedding, as shown in the photos provided. While I initially tried to let it go and enjoy the trip, it became increasingly difficult to overlook the overall condition of the room. The bench seating near the desk was not only visibly stained, but also loose and unstable to the point where sitting on it felt questionable. I ended up wiping it down myself with disinfectant wipes. The room service phone also did not function properly -- calls could be made, but we could not hear anyone on the other end. After reporting this, no one came up for quite some time, and we had to repeatedly go downstairs to request basic items and toiletries before assistance finally arrived roughly 30-40 minutes later. The hotel itself is in an excellent location, which is honestly one of its strongest qualities. However, the hospitality throughout the stay fell far below expectations. The restaurant service in particular was consistently disappointing. I approached every interaction politely and warmly, yet the staff largely came across as disengaged, cold, and robotic. Very little attentiveness was shown during meals, and the energy from several servers made it quite apparent they did not want to be there. Ironically, the most friendliness we received came when the check was presented. As for the food, it was average at best. Not terrible, but certainly not memorable. Breakfast was underwhelming, and small details were repeatedly overlooked. At one point, we informed the staff that the coffee served was cold, and the response we received was essentially that it had been sitting out and they could simply pour hotter coffee into it to warm it up. That interaction honestly summarized the level of service we experienced throughout the stay: reactive rather than attentive, and lacking the professionalism expected at this price point. Overall, I left disappointed because the hotel has genuine potential. The location is fantastic, and with the right level of care, attentiveness, and hospitality training, the experience could be significantly elevated. Unfortunately, when you are paying premium prices, you expect the quality of service and comfort that is advertised -- and this stay simply did not deliver that. Oh I almost forgot, we got an unexpected visit from a stink bug and the staff merely said "I am so sorry for that"

After the game, the room smelled disgusting. When the heat kicked on, the smoke smell really came out; however, the room itself was generally unclean. The toilet also ran non-stop. It was going to be a sleepless night with that toilet running continuously. Juggling the handle didn't stop that toilet. The bathroom wall was disgusting and had brown stains on it. My travel partner spoke to the front desk before the game, but we were told it was non-refundable. The front desk said we could move to another room tomorrow, so that was promising. We tried to hang in there. It was the dirty sheets that sent us packing. One bed was covered in hair on the comforter and on the sheets. The other bed had stains and hair. I took pictures of the grossness and then I booked another hotel 15 miles away while my travel partner went to talk to the front desk again. The front desk said if we brought it to their attention sooner, they would've refunded us (we brought up how we didn't want the smoking room, my travel partner went downstairs to talk to the front desk about how we didn't like the condition of the room). Soooo... hopefully the other rooms are better? We had a bad time. We left at 1:30 am for another hotel. Update: My travel partner was told the general manager would be in at 7 am. When he called this morning around 10, he was told the general manager wouldn't be in until 2 pm. We'll see! Update 2: we called back at 3 pm and asked for the general manager. We were transferred to a full mailbox, so we were unable to leave a message. Update 3: received call back from manager. We received a refund of half the stay, which is better than nothing! The manager did also reply to my review, which is great! My Conclusion: Would I give them another chance? Yes. The rest of the hotel seemed very clean. The bird in the lobby was cute. Personally, I think this room just fell through the cracks with housekeeping and was missed. The smell was tolerable, but the running toilet and dirty sheets was the big problem for me. Also, with Buffalo being only 3 hours away, I visit fairly often. I wouldn't write off this place due to a fluke like this. Go Bills. :)

If you're looking for that authentic Buffalo charm without feeling like you've accidentally…read moretrespassed into your grandmother's historically preserved living room, this is the spot. From the second you walk in, the house radiates that classic, cozy "Old Buffalo" energy that makes you want to cancel your plans and just exist in a state of perpetual relaxation. To the left of the entrance is the dining room. It's less of a room and more of a 24/7 hospitality hug. There is a relentless flow of snacks: chips, pretzels, fruit, and candy. The drink selection is equally aggressive in the best way possible (Nespresso, BOTH Pepsi and Coke products, beers, and teas). I spent an embarrassing amount of time just surveying my options. The Room (The Grover Cleveland): The room is a great mix of "I'm in a historical landmark" and "Thank God there's a heated bathroom floor." It's well-preserved but doesn't lack the modern essentials. The Pros: Mini-fridge, wall-mounted TV with streaming, and a shower with a hand wand (excellent water pressure, too). They even left two pitchers of water for me, one chilled, one room temp. That is the kind of over-preparedness I appreciate. The large windows allow tons of natural light to enter. Wall mounted Aveda shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the roomy shower. And yes, the bathroom has a wall-console controlled heated floor!! There are two luggage racks, writing desk and two comfy lounge chairs along with the king sized bed. One side has a nightstand with alarm clock abd the other side has a marble shelf on top of an old-style steam heater. There are plenty of plugs around the room and the door has bolt lock with old-style key. The Con: My only tiny gripe? The pillows. They were a bit on the "pancake" side of the spectrum, very thin and definitely not fluffy. If you like a firm loft, you might find them lacking. The Amenities The fireside library and parlor are perfect for pretending you're reliving the 18th-century lifestyle, and the covered front porch is elite-tier for people-watching. Parking is easy: you can pay for the off-street spot or just roll the dice with the free street parking (which was totally fine). The Food & The "Staff" The breakfast spread is legit. We're talking yogurt varieties, hard-boiled eggs, fresh fruit, homemade granola, and homemadr scones that I am still thinking about days later. Seriously, the scones alone are worth the booking. Also, special shout-out to the resident dog who clearly thinks he's the General Manager. He's the friendliest employee on the payroll. The location is walkable to a bunch of local shops and restaurants, so you're right in the heart of things. If you want a comfy stay that is affordable and feels historical but isn't "stuffy," this is your place!
