Absolutely find these 1-2 star reviews hilarious. "Oh no…read morefamilies enjoying it too much, doesn't let me properly relax" oh shut up. This is the second time I've been here. The first time was with my family so I opted for a 2 story villa which was amazing. Second time was just my wife and I and selected an ocean front WITH AC. Amazing view and powerful ac during this August heat. The stay here is always welcoming, the prices are what you would expect a hotel would charge but they don't gauge you like most places. The entertainment at night is from 8-12, Eduardo Jimenez is probably one of the best entertainers I've come across. My wife really loved his singing. The breakfast buffet in the morning is tasty and the coffee here is amazing, it just hits different than any other morning coffee. It's conveniently right next to puerto Nuevo, it's about a 5 min walk! Absolutely love this place. Whether it's for a romantic getaway weekend or if you're bringing the whole Wolfpack, you're gonna love it. Will absolutely be back!

**NOT FOR RELAXING***…read more If you're a couple trying to relax and get away, this is NOT The spot for You. This is a FAMILY ORIENTED hotel and villas. Kids are running around everywhere! They bombard the pool with screaming and splashing everywhere. The indoor pool was even worse! I hate it here and I will never be back. YOU CANNOT RELAX HERE!!! Our original spot (Las Rocas) was booked and we decided to come here. This place is more expensive, and had less than what we wanted. No fridge or microwave in our room. No AC (which is normal Out here). Did have one room fan. Only had two wall plugs! And they were both in the oddest spots. WTH Bed was super squeaky with every move we made. Bed wasn't too bad, just loud. There was ZERO balcony. Just a window to open. We did have a decent view though, which we paid for. No ironing board or iron, hair dryer and other things hotels usually provide in room. Yes the views are great, but everywhere along the ocean has it. Paid $350 for two nights and did not get to relax how we wanted. Nice place, but not for us. We prefer adults only Sort of vibes and this definitely wasn't it. If you have a family, this place is for you. But for god's sake, LOOK AFTER YOUR KIDS!! Tired of seeing kids run amuck everywhere on the premises with no supervision. Grounds are nice but prices aren't worth it

Near by CVS, close to Ralps market, restaurants, bar club.... Room: they clean everyday. They give you shower towel for each bed, also there are a lot of towel in bathroom. So many bathroom in this hostel, one in room and another 2 each floor. Kitchen: this area is big and comfortable with all of stuffs you can use. Open 24 hours, whenever you feel hungry you can make some foods. Hot water, coffee machine,....always ready for you. Laundry: $1 for wash and $1 for dry. Only quarter so you can get change at cashier. A little but old system but good condition and working very well. Customer service: They have so many people who work as a receptionist at different time. I lived here 2 weeks and met all. All of them is friendly, kindly, helful and professional. Impressive work!!! Price: Im pretty sure you will get cheaper price when you book the room at this hostel, or on official hostel's website more than on any online app. And cheaper if you book on weekday compare to weekend. Great job Hi SD hostel team!!! Very high recommendation for all of travellers around the worlds!!!!

We were provided with bedding and towels. The rooms were large and there was a ton of bathrooms. The beds were pretty comfortable. Was happily surprised by the amenities - a game room and a movie room and a really large kitchen. Also a perk that they had free breakfast. Only complaint is that they don't have a heater on in the hallways so it's freezing. Also it's not very soundproof so it's very loud being so close to the gas lamp quarter.

There are also dorm rooms with bunk beds and shared bathrooms. The common area is nice with a large couch, a kitchen for cooking and storing food and a TV. Pacific Beach is a few steps away with plenty of dining options around. I had a nice time here. You can't beat the price to stay so close to the ocean. The staff was great and gave me a tour of the facility when I arrived. You can rent equipment like surfboards, bikes, skateboards, beach towels, etc from the front office. California Dreams has everything you need to make your beach experience fun. They also run a coffee shop outside in the mornings.

I was first in bathroom when I woke up, so no issues using the bathroom. I slept very well. Woke up twice in the middle of the night, but I'm a light sleeper. Heard light snoring in middle of night. The staff was very friendly. Asked purpose of visit. Fully explained all amenities. Gave complimentary ear plugs. I was a little worried about finding parking at 11pm. But there were a ton of spaces everywhere. I would definitely come back here again.

I've stayed at several hostels throughout Southern California. Samesun Ocean Beach is by far one of…read morethe better ones I've booked. . After staying downtown all weekend, I wanted a more quiet and calm spot for my last night in SD. I booked through Priceline and prepaid my stay for the night at $41 in an all female 6-bed dorm. Mark greeted me upon my arrival early Sunday evening. He was kind, professional and informative. We actually are both from the same home state, coincidentally. After checking me in, he gave me a tour. . The place is huge and very clean. Very much donned in a surfer bohemian aesthetic. They have surfboards for rent, but extra towels, blankets and yoga mats are free to use at will. There's a tv room that leads to the courtyard/lounge and kitchen areas. Plenty of seating either on small tables, benches or the patio couches. There's also a hammock, a front porch with swing chairs, a bar, & vending machines. A couple of clear door fridges are in the lounge area and duplicate in the kitchen. There are top left shelves designated to abandoned foods that are up for grabs. The kitchen is like an island surrounded by the lounge, courtyard and downstairs dorm hall. This arrangement allows the kitchen to remain open 24 hours as the dorm hall side is closed off with a sliding door. Most hostels close their kitchen at night to not disturb other guests, but this is most convenient. They also offer free tea accesible 24 hours and free breakfast from 7am-9am. . There are several single occupancy restrooms and two communal ones designated for men and women. My room was tight quarters, but overall functional. There's a nook with an overhead light next to the bed and adjacent to an outlet. The room has a big window which my fellow roomies did the right thing and opened it wide. The room also has a mirror vanity and sink which was helpful if I didn't want to go out to the hall to use the restroom. The sheets were clean, smelled phreshly washed and the blanket was thick and warm. . It's also not far from downtown. I commuted there via the trolley and the bus which took about 45 minutes. You can cheat the system and take an Uber part of the way to or from Old Town (the bus leg of the trip). I would definitely stay here again and hope to have more time in Ocean Beach. There are many restaurants, cafes and shops nearby and literally steps from the water. If you need quality accommodations, in a great location on a budget, Samesun will get the job done! . Sidenote: There are only stairs inside and outside of the building.
