Dr. Katz was pulled into the picture and he diagnosed and provided a treatment plan. Given that we didn't have insurance for her, his swift help was most appreciated. My entire family and I became patients right away. I've been a patient for 28 years now. When I'm sick I can call that morning and get a visit that day and if necessary he'll provide any meds to get me back on my feet. I now see Dr Dale Toce, who breathes life into this practice with some personality ! Of course cardiac matters are of great importance, but being a patient is not fun, and having a doctor with a bit of flare is a good thing. My parents and in-laws all have had different doctors here, so I have met many. As far as the service they provide, their offices are convenient, clean, safe and well run by a great support staff!

He's taken good care of me through thick and thin, and I truly feel that in him I have a vigorous health-care advocate. One indication of his skills and reputation is that other physicians go to Dr. Mintell as their family doctor. I only wonder how much longer he'll be practicing; he's in his early 70's now, and despite being very active and apparently in excellent health, everybody has to retire sooner or later.

I appreciated his willingness to be helpful. He told me to have an ultrasound. I had the ultrasound at another hospital, and the result was sent to his office. I called the office yesterday and asked about the result of the ultrasound. I was asking to speak with the doctor directly, but I was not able to. A receptionist over the phone stated she talked to the doctor, and the result was "indeterminate." I asked her to explain what that means. She stated, "It means we don't know what the heck is wrong with you." Then I asked what else the doctor found in the result. She stated there is nothing she can say. I was disappointed that she was not willing to help me speak with the doctor directly regarding my test results. I called the hospital today again about some concerns that I had. A receptionist became irritated, and stated "The doctor has nothing to talk to you about that." I asserted the importance of speaking with my doctor. She did not listen. She became more irritated and insisted that the doctor does not need to speak to me. She finally stated she would let the doctor know about my call. However, she was very unhelpful and unwilling to assist me. When I explained to her the importance of this matter, she simply hung up while I was still speaking. I felt mistreated and disrespected by her rude and unprofessional behavior. My hope is the doctor is informed about this inappropriate and unjust behavior of his receptionist(s) and he can take appropriate actions to rectify this. As a patient, I have a right to speak with my doctor.
