Horizon came to repair a problem with a sewer line in December. They replaced the line and left the yard torn up saying they'd come back in the Spring to repair and seed the lawn. We've made multiple calls to attempt to get them to come back and finish the job with absolutely no response. Considering the cost of this service was almost $10k this is completely unacceptable. Definitely causes concern for any warranty they say they provide with the sewer line service! Would not use them again or recommend them to others. read more

If possible I will give negative , on July I requested service to ch out my ac system at my house , they came and did their best to tell me that the current ac is completely out and they recommend a new unit, ok do it , how much is the service ? he gave me different monthly payment options And I choose what fits my budget, total due on contract is 11218$ , after making couple payments I found out a crazy interest which was sup to be calculated in my monthly payment which is about 7000$ , called the bank they said it's horizon deal and they can't change it called horizon they keep playing with me , email ceo never replied back or even care , I will be contacting newspapers and many other channels to make everyone aware of their fraudulent businesses and make sure everyone stays away from them read more

Buyer beware. I recently found out I was charged two service plans when i had work done this summer. They never sent me copy of invoice at that time. They tried to sell me new systems and told me they only had one in stock and if I had it installed in the next two days they could discount my job $5k. Really? Worse than a car salesman! I had them replace a sewer pipe out front and today I am still filling in new dirt due to soil settling. They never followed up. I would suggest you get comparisons as they are very pricey......$$ on their website? Should be $$$$. They are now fighting me to return my $59 they snatched from me for a maintenance plan I did not need or order. Ask for paperwork before they leave so you are fully aware. It's a shame there are still thieves like them doing business today! read more

The negatives are many: Outrageously expensive, impossible to receive hard copy proof of service, suspicious claims of repairs and efficiency of function without proof, no identifiers regarding the location from which the mega-company sent their specialists, and spotless service crew that appear to never get their hands dirty. This is a high tag, overly advertised, smooth talkin' operation with zero credibility. Tragically, this service field has gone way downhill in recent decades. The focus is on sales. read more

Horizon is great with being able to come out quickly but they are VERY EXPENSIVE. Added a battery backup to my sump pump -$1000, replaced a toliet -$1000 (not including the price of the toliet which I bought separately), had a issue with my water pressure after they replaced my toliet -$1000, so basically if I need them to come out for anything its going to be $1000 or more buttom line. I'm going to try looking for a cheaper option from now on. read more

I was forced to have my furnace inspected as per the VA home loan closing agreement so I called Horizon because they offer a military discount. The Tech arrived on time and inspected the furnace. He told me that there was a crack and carbon monoxide was leaking into the basement. Without missing a beat he told me "we can replace it for $10,000". I could not afford it and he refused to turn on the furnace, put a warning paper in plastic with red tape on and left. I bought 3 carbon monoxide detectors and placed them in my basement until I could afford a new furnace and not one went off even after a week. I called 4 other companies and I found for one I could afford and thankfully found a company who installed a new one for $3100. Two days later the owner of the other company called me back and told me that he could not find the "crack" the Horizon Tech was talking about and gave me pictures of where he said the "cracks" were in the report and that the furnace was fine just was 23 years old. I KID YOU NOT! So BEWARE of this company and their practices! Furthermore, before you lie and claim that you cannot find anything on file, I still have the invoice and the shut off paper and explanation why still inside the plastic bag that the tech taped onto the old furnace in my drawer. I will be happy to post a picture of it if you deny it ever happened. read more

Employees were not caring about my house left it dirty brand new unit did not work from day one hande me to parts in a box told me he didn't know how to install them for me to figure it out had to have a different service tech come out to get the unit to run properly and run intake and exhaust pipes so there was no dip read more

Definitely beware, they are predatory. Eerily identical to Mona below, the salesman suggested a new water heater during a new hvac quote. They quoted me 18k. My neighbors had a new hvac installed last year for 9k using a local company. Lots to be suspicious about- the salesman said that he had to talk to the Lennox guy and went outside. When he came back he said that his rep must have had "whiskey in his coffee" because of the 10% deal he was going to give me. Salesman also hesitant to put anything in writing on official letterhead and when he finally did, no specific costs were listed, just checked boxes. read more

Did not arrive on time and they charge high service fee for just coming out. My experience was not pleasant.

Do not ever purchase their maintenance program!!! It's interesting how they can be out the same day for income producing calls but to try and schedule for their pre-paid maintenance they are completely booked for 4 months!!! And then they call 3 days prior to the appointment and somehow know the technician won't be in and have to reschedule another month away!!! Awful customer service!!!!! read more

Second time I've used Horizon. Well satisfied with both jobs. Clogged drain on 1st visit. Replaced an outside faucet on 2nd.

Called to repair heater and they were only interested in replacing with new one. Called someone on the phone to set up appointment while looking at my heater. Very high pressure and couldn't find anything wrong with my heater. read more

Excellent company and technicians. Rich was one of the best. Before switching to Horizon we were working with the original installers of our HVAC and their service record was terrible. Took us days to get service even when it was not peak season. We just purchased an entire HVAC system from Horizon because we love their service record with us. read more

ALWAYS GET A SECOND OPINION... AC system wasn't working correctly. Horizon spent very little time talking about fixing the existing system and pushed to replace the entire system at a cost of $15,000. When they did talk about fixing the system they said it would cost a ballpark $4,000 to fix it. Spoke to a different HVAC company over the phone and they advised me that my AC (most likely) froze up due to a clogged filter. Let the system thaw out, replaced the filter and the system is working great again. That phone call saved me $15,000. All it needed was a new $10 filter. ALWAYS GET A SECOND OPINION!!!! read more

Buyer Beware. Just had to throw the technician out of my house after it was nothing but an 1 1/2 hour hard sell for a new A/C unit. He was supposed to be there for my tune-up, but who knows whether he did anything to the system or not. He stopped short of calling me stupid, but told me misleading information and tried to scare me into a sale. Maybe I need a new unit, or maybe I don't, but for sure I am getting a second opinion. read more

A technician came to my home last month to take care of two issues - he replaced a broken drain stopper in my bathroom sink and he also replaced a showerhead with one that provided better water pressure. Regarding the showerhead, I learned after the fact that there were actually two options I could've chosen from but for some reason the installer didn't advise me of this at the time, so they needed to return days later to install the other option which it turns out was actually better at the same price. From the standpoint of calling in for customer service, they seem to have a lot of layers of staff because there was a lot of transferring me to various departments, so be prepared for some frustration. On a positive note, their techs appear knowledgeable and show respect for your home by putting on disposable slippers before entering. I'm on the fence about contacting them in the future. read more

Can I give this place less than one star ? 1.) they sent the WRONG people i needed a plumbing guy / and they sent a heater guy - the heater guy ( the wrong guy they sent ) - tried to sell me on getting a new heating system - they only START at $12k so my hot water heater was literally dripping water - I needed to get this addressed "today" plumber guy made it seem like a "deal" at 2000 DOLLARS ( which after researching it comes to about DOUBLE what it should I triedreaching oun and they aren't communicating back to me this place is a ripoff - AVOID THIS PLACE - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE avoid this place read more

I wish I could give 0 stars but that is not an option! This place is a total scam. Had them come out to do routine heat and AC maintance. The "tech" was supposed to clean the outside condenser and didn't he also left caps off the AC that would allow the friderant leak. We were also told that the system is old and is on its last legs and needs to be replaced asap. The quote to replace the system would be between $9k and $20k. So a $59 dollar tune up all of a sudden is a major issue.. Called a different HVAC company to come out and give a second opinion a day or so later. After they cleaned up the system that the previous tech didn't the short story is the heat and ac unit even though it's older is fully functioning and should last for numerous years. I would never recommend horizon services they are nothing but a rip off! read more

The guys that showed up were nice enough but after looking at the work to be done (replace the works in a toilet and replace a cutoff valve) they went to the truck to work up the estimate. They started at $700 and then when I said it was too much, they started knocking off "discounts" and got it down to $500 - still outrageous for the minor work to be done. When I declined, they said "we could call our supervisor and they might be able to reduce the price - perhaps even cut it in half." I told them I don't want to negotiate and sent them away. Their business model seems to be - try to charge as much as you think you can get away with. read more

Horizon Customer Care Manager, Not a happy camper about how much I was charged and the way the estimating process went to do my repairs..... I'm very disappointed with the pricing and how much I had to negotiate to pay for my repairs. An estimate for repairing my plumbing problem was initially for @ $1,400. I thought that estimate was very pricey. The Horizon tech who gave me the estimate was not the same one who performed the repairs. The Horizon tech said that my repairs would require at least 2 technicians to do the job & that's why the estimate was so high at $1,400. However, ONLY ONE technician showed up and did the job alone. The technician said that they already included a discount in my $1,400 estimate, therefore not allowing me to use any additional discounts that Horizon displayed on their website. I practically had to beg for a 5% additional senior discount. Unfortunately, I couldn't wait or get an additional estimate for these repairs, since my morning shower is a necessity Again, this was another attempt by a heating and plumbing company to bait you into doing a job and NOT negotiating a more affordable and fair price for the customer. I'm not interested in using Horizon Sevices anymore because of the sneaky way this transaction was handled. And please don't send me any BOGUS so-called Horizon 'GIFT CARDS' for discounts on repairs, because there are ALWAYS strings attached. I would appreciate a response from a Horizon Customer Care Rep. I called them as I heard they were reputable but clearly not. My hvac wasn't shutting off via the thermostat and so I contacted them. Contacted to have our water treatment UV light replaced. We are new to having well water treatment system and did not know how to do it ourselves. Had a few extra lights on hand. They scheduled the appointment. Technician arrived on time and tested water. Test was good. Tech did nothing to change the light. Then provided a quote to do a partial system redo around $3,200.00 or a whole system redo for around $7,900.00. We pointed out that the appointment was just to change the UV light. Tech said that they don't change lights on systems they didn't install. They knew when the appointment was scheduled that it was to change a light on a system they had not installed. Back to square one and out $59.50. read more

So far total fail. I went online and submitted request around 9 pm for appointment. No response (still waiting). So contacted again. I was given 10 am to 2 pm window. Horizon personnel arrived at 1:56 pm - but the WRONG crew! They sent HVAC when my complaint was broken water heater. I was told Horizon would contact me shortly. After 2.5 hours (4:30 pm), I contacted them. I was clearly off their radar. They said someone would contact me during their "normal working hours". Thanks for nothing. Their site says open 24 hours. They replaced my furnace and AC unit last year with no problems and I was happy with the service. I have since been trying to get some reimbursement from my home warranty company (I insisted the seller of this house provide me with a warranty precisely because both units were 30+ years old). The warranty company requires me to get a statement from the contractor that the units were replaced because of their age, and I have been trying for more than 2 months to get the information from Horizon with no luck. The woman who sold me the job is ghosting me completely now, I'm starting to wonder if she even works there anymore. As a result, the claim is held up at the warranty company and I feel like Horizon has screwed me completely. They're only interested in the sale, after-sale service is apparently not A Thing for these folks. read more

Monday Sean came to our home and gave us an estimate. We decided to go with Horizon services. Yesterday, Wednesday, Brian and Adam came out and did the job. Horizon Services is where it's at!! Yesterday they replaced our home heater and air conditioner. Brian and Adam arrived at 8 AM and left at 5 PM. They put all the metal stuff outside and cleaned all the areas where they worked. Both Ron and I are impressed by the professionalism of these two young men, by their commitment to the job i.e., work ethic, and their competence . Thank you guys, and thank you Horizon Services. Have used them in the past for my HVAC but used them today for my plumbing and will be the last time. I was having a problem with my one toilet and was told the flapper and valve needed to be replaced and was charged $300 for part and labor. The guy was here less than 30 minutes since I was on a call during it. I looked up the price of the pieces that were replaced. It was maybe $25 for the high end. While I needed it done I should have just called someone else, I understand markups but that is just insane. I will use them for the HVAC contract I have but that may just be all. read more

Used their plumbing services in the past and was satisfactory with pleasant employees. My AC broke down and decided to schedule an appointment. I can understand if they want to charge a visit fee on top of the diagnosis fee plus labor and parts. I am not okay if they are advertising a special for $50 off any AC repairs and not applying it to my bill which I saw on a highway billboard shortly afterwards. To have the technician not apply or mention the special is egregious. Not a good business strategy to steal $50 dollars and to never have my business again. I was even kind enough to reschedule the appointment as they were likely going to be late. Avoid Horizon. So many other cheaper and honest businesses available. read more

I would LOVE to give ZERO stars because that's how distasteful my experience was with horizon services. Our heater/AC is on the older side and we know we will have to replace it at some point, but currently it's working great. We called horizon to come out and service it. We paid 60 bucks for a guy to come out and NOT SERVICE IT, tell us "you will need a whole new system", "there is no cleaning you just have replace it." Said he couldn't find the coil and we need all new duct work. My husband said ok because he knows nothing of HVAC, the service tech set up a meeting with the sales guys. The sales guy was SO incredibly rude. Once he told us we needed a 15,000 dollar system for our home (our home is 1,200 sq ft) we said ok we want to get some other quotes to be sure, he LITERALLY SAID "why did you even have me come out here, this is ridiculous". TO OUR FACES!! How dare you get annoyed that we can't afford a 15,000 system when it's STILL working!!! Both the service tech and sales guy were SO rude. We had ANOTHER company come out, he was in our house all of a half hour, found the coil, said our duct work needed some work but could be fixed at not a high cost and told us they could give us a brand new system for 5,500!!! They are also A rated and use the same tools/systems as horizon does. You are a bunch of scammers and just want people's money it's disgusting. I would NEVER recommend horizon for anyone, not even an emergency. Edit: to Peyo P; I am unsure of how to contact you directly. Can you please send me a message on here, and I will gladly give you the information you requested. read more

We contacted Horizon to repair a drain for our shower. They supposedly had someone in our area but the guy came from +1 hour away. He did not arrive "within the hour" as stated by dispatch. After staring at it awhile, the guy said it would have to be rescheduled and he would need "a helper". ?? When he finally provided the quote it was ridiculously expensive, a gross overcharge for a simple repair. Clearly he didn't want the job or thought we were desperate. We told him no thank you. This was a waste of our time. We tried to file a complaint but did not get very far with that either. Customer Service has not called us back. We will never use Horizon and have already shared our experience with others. read more

Being a new homeowner with a relatively new heat pump unit approaching 1.5 years I didn't expect an HVAC company to take advantage of my misfortune and price gauge me. My core issue was not identified and service was overcharged. I have two other companies inspect the unit in the same week and both companies identified the massive leak and where it was coming from without even having to hook up equipment to the unit. I am writing this now after 6 weeks of my Horizon visit. My entire coil had to be replaced, which was covered under warranty. The replacement cost was 4 times less than i was charged just to inspect the unit and place a band aid on the issue by loading the system with ( 8 lbs of 410A ) of which both other companies said was almost double the capacity of my system . I will never recommend anyone to use this company for services. Total rip off, cost me nearly a grand to provide an un-honest assessment. I am sure that this honest review will cost you more than i lost during this terrible experience as i will make sure everyone is aware so that i may save them from falling for this trap. $789 charge to fill a refrigerant on a full coil burst that can be heard from several feet away of the system yet two other companies for the same refrigerant charge $150 refill for what is the manufacture listed system capacity. HVAC ran out of Freon again within 24 hrs. read more

I have been a customer of Horizon Services for about 10 years. They installed my heater and they also installed a new bathroom sink/vanity. Each time a technician has been to my home I have received outstanding service. If only negative star ratings existed.... If you want to spend what I can see as 4 times the amount that other companies charge, then choose Horizon. They tout their service as superior, but I don't think that it is. Their servicemen appear to be trained, more so on how to push a new system on to you, rather than being trained in their craft. When I asked the servicemen why their prices are much higher than other companies...or why I should choose Horizon over someone else, their responses were all predictably similar. This was based on the 3 visits I had involving 3 different servicemen. I had a basic AC tune up for an AC unit that was old, but still functioning. After the tune up, it never worked again....literally. It is my belief that servicemen and installers get a percentage of new leads that result in a sale, which of course would motivate them to sell you a new system, regardless if it was necessary. I would imagine that their comparitively high prices are also needed to maintain their extensive advertising; I actually saw a plane fly overhead last Saturday pulling a Horizon banner....come on now... This is a fact as reported to me by my neighbor: a neighbor spent $20,000 on a heating/AC unit. HVAC units in my area usually cost between $5-8 thousand dollars for a new system. With that being said, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING!! ESPECIALLY THEIR SO CALLED "TUNE UP." It appears that, that is the point when they get their foot in the door and start their canned presentation on why you should choose them. They'll likely try and sell you their service plan, as they did me. I think that they realize, as any business would, that if you purchase their plan you'll feel obligated to use them again....when you use them again, and if you're desperate, you'll pay their high price, because you'll feel that you already have money invested. I think you should shop around. For those who gave a high rating, I just don't get it. There are 36 reviews that the Yelp filter removed; 33 are 1 star....just sayin... UPDATE 2/6/15: Richard K.- Thanks for the shout out! Sorry to hear you are not buying my complaint; however quite a few others did. For a more accurate representation, I tend to check out the reviews that were removed and listed as "not recommended" on Yelp. I think you'll find that for this company, to date, around 50 of the 69 reviews disagree with your assessment. Good luck and keep that unit tuned up! read more

We are trying to sell my parent's house. My father passed away in July. As part of the house negotiations, I called Horizon to ask for the records (since the technicians never filled out any of the cards on the actual units). You'd have thought I was asking them to rebuild the Brooklyn Bridge. In this day and age of emails and reports being able to processed quickly, they told me it would be 7-10 days!!! What is the value in over-paying Horizon all of these years to be able to show that you've taken care of you HVAC with service records, when they can't even send an email with a summary! Then, try to talk to some one in management is IMPOSSIBLE - FOR THAT -they tell me to go to their website and I can request the report!!! What the friggin kind of service is that - Buyer Be Ware! These guys only want to take your $$ not help you when you need something - like documentation or a report. read more
