I had a very concerning and uncomfortable experience at this hotel and feel it's important to warn others. When I first checked in, I was given a key to a room that was already occupied. The front desk employee was polite and apologetic, but accompanied me to the next room late at night, which made me uneasy as a woman traveling alone. The second room was clearly not cleaned--there was an unmade bed and used towels on the floor. The third room I was assigned was acceptable, but it did not have a security chain on the door. Given the earlier issues with rooms being incorrectly assigned, I did not feel safe and was worried someone might enter my room. The following morning, I went down for breakfast shortly after the posted start time of 6:00 AM, but nothing was set up and no staff were present. When I called, I was told breakfast started at 6:00. After explaining it was already past that time, I was told it would still be a while before anything was ready. I raised my concerns about the previous night and asked about a possible refund. I was told someone would look into it and follow up, but I never received a response. After multiple follow-up calls, I finally spoke with the same employee who had checked me in. He was extremely rude, denied the situation occurred, and repeatedly accused me of being "the kind of person who takes advantage of a situation." He also refused to let me speak with the manager (his cousin), claiming he was unavailable. At this point, I am less concerned about a refund and more focused on making others aware. The lack of proper room management created an unsafe situation, and the dismissive and hostile response from staff was unacceptable. I would strongly caution anyone considering staying here, especially those traveling alone. read more

My boyfriend wanted to stay the night on a Sunday for the Super Bowl and hang out with some friends. He got this hotel room so could sleep here and then drive home in the morning. His room was dirty. Upon arrival he went up to the front asked for another room and the worker said he would walk him down there with his new roomkey. He walked into the room with him, told him that he was bisexual and that he was very sexy, cornering him in the room made my boyfriend feel very uncomfortable and he did not want to stay there. He decided to leave. I called that night and left a voicemail, letting them know we would like a refund and the actions that occurred. The worker deleted the voicemail and lied to his supervisor stating that he did not say those things and since I have not heard anything from the supervisor after I did speak to him a day or so later. Bob, the supervisor basically told me he would get with the owner and get back to me. Nobody has called me back. I called today and the worker that said those comments to my boyfriend told me that I was not getting a refund and my boyfriend was lying and hung up on me. I called back a few times and no one would answer. Unfortunately, because this is an independently owned business, there is no corporate number so don't stay here if you want to be sexually harassed and your money stolen when you don't feel comfortable staying in their establishment. read more

I actually was very comfortable in this hotel. Check in was smooth and easy - the fact that there is no elevator was a little disappointing but I appreciate the host put my room close to the stairwell and the truth is that I asked for the second floor, so I appreciate his meeting my request. We needed a place to stay while visiting our daughter who attends UNL. So we looked for a cheap place with breakfast. That's how we found the Horizon Inn. We booked a room for four nights, expecting a standard motel with sub-par breakfast. What we got was family-style hospitality. It was an exceptionally pleasant surprise. The owner of the hotel visited at breakfast and engaged us in great conversation. I also ran into a staff member, Marsha (sp?), every morning and had some very fun chats with her! Add to that the overall cleanliness and ease of access, the more than reasonable price, and we had a fantastic stay at the Horizon Inn! No doubt we will be back! read more

Room reeked of cigarettes. There was a punch hole in our bathroom door. Every single towel was dirty. I was afraid to sleep in this bed.

I drove up from Texas and found this motel online for cheap. The check in process was quick and easy. This motel is near the airport so there are plenty eateries to choose from. This inn also offers free breakfast from 6a-11a everyday. I checked into my room and I found it to be quite nice for the price and considering it is a motel. Lol The restroom was very clean. The bed was nice and comfy and the tv was a nice size and very modern. My only complaint was the noise level. You could hear ppl in the hallway as if they were inside your room. You could even hear ppl in the next room. After a 13hr drive the last thing I wanted to hear was shouting! All in all for the price and location it was a steal in my opinion. read more

Literally every single other hotel/inn in the area had been booked up due to a sporting event, so we decided to give Horizon Inn a shot. Lovely service, let me tell you: they gave us the last room available with a rolling bed since the room was only with 1 bed. The parking lots are pretty small, but Bob courteously gave us *his* parking spot so that we can be closer to our room. In the morning, we went to enjoy breakfast where Neill greeted us like a wonderful host. Truly a bright and sunny way to start the day. Next time we go on a trip we may just have to top by Horizon Inn first. read more

At first I was a bit apprehensive about staying here, but it turned out to be a rather pleasant stay. Most likely you will find yourself here because of their extremely affordable nightly rates. It was definitely worth the gamble. When I checked in, the guy at the front desk informed me that they had just recently put in new beds and flat screen televisions. The room that I got was on the second floor and it was for the most part clean. It was on the older side, but thankfully nothing was falling apart. The room included a microwave oven and a mini fridge. The towels were clean, but they've seen better days. It was pretty convenient to have the sink outside of the bathroom. I found it a bit strange that I couldn't see anything through the peephole for my door. There were a few restaurants nearby with a little discount if you eat at the Perkins across the street. It was also located very close to the Lincoln airport. Overall, if you're needing a place to stay for a night or two and not looking to break the bank, give this motel a try. It will be hard for you to find another place to be cheaper for the same amenities. read more

Horizon was my choice and it was one of the cheapest places in the Lincoln area. Horizon Inn was the first motel I saw after exiting from I-80 and I wasn't sure what to expect. After parking in a generously large parking lot I was greeted by a kind and friendly proprietor behind the counter. He explained that the motel was recently renovated, which I didn't expect but was happy to hear. He also said that to keep the newly updated rooms clean, no smoking or pets were allowed, which was fine by me. And I wasn't disappointed with my accommodations, with decent air conditioning and television channels. It's also walking distance to a small pizza bar and restaurant, which also has take out. They had a dehumidifier in the room that was kind of loud because something must have happened. I just think if it was that much of an issue they should have given us a different room? We stayed here for a few nights while looking for apartments in Lincoln. Reviews on other sites were really positive about this family owned business. Their rates are excellent, they keep costs down so they can keep the price down as well. They offer free wifi, which was great, and breakfast. The breakfast included a waffle mix and a waffle maker, some cereals, and coffee. I had the coffee which was fine, but due to my allergy couldn't partake in the other items. Room was clean but old, the carpet seemed to have been well used as did the furniture. The important things like the bedding, towels, and bathroom were all clean. Air conditioner worked well and tv had a lot of channels to choose from. The place was also quiet, had plenty of parking, and everyone was friendly. I would recommend this place if you're looking for a cheap room for the evening. Its definitely not as nice as some of the other cheap places I've stayed while traveling this year but it had everything you needed read more

Just ending my 3rd week here (moving to a house) and it's been a wonderful experience. Having stayed in many motels through the years (business and personal) I know of what I speak. Very friendly professional personnel, clean, really quiet, even with railroad tracks not far from back of property, only hear a train if they sound their horn (or whatever it is), which never happens except during the day, and that rarely. It is so well insulated and I never hear room doors and hardly ever hear water noise. One night I thought I was the only one here, but learned the next morning that the motel had been fully booked. So quiet. Hall can only be accessed with room key. Have really enjoyed my time here. read more

Horizon Inn - Hotel owned by foreigners. Somewhat rude when I checked in. Once in my room the bath/sink area smelled like sewer backing up and something was smelly about the water. Charge hefty prices for the issues I had while I was there over Christmas to visit in-laws. Pot smell in hallway and once reported nothing was done about it. Nothing in my room was operable. Microwave was dirty and housekeeping was substandard at best. Had problems with TV working properly. I do not recommend anyone stay here. read more

Decent, inexpensive hotel on the outskirts of Lincoln near the airport, so you have to drive if you want to see any of the nice parts of Lincoln. There is a sex toy shop next door and the train tracks run less than 50 feet from the guest rooms, so that should tell you something. Do not plan on getting a restful night's sleep unless you are a very heavy sleeper. The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable, but the wallpaper in our room was in serious disrepair and the windows (with a view of the train tracks and National Guard depot) were filthy. The "hot breakfast" consisted of a waffle machine. Otherwise, all you can get are bagels and bread (there is a toaster), peanut butter and jelly, Fruit Loops and Corn Flakes, watered down juice, and weak coffee. When I returned for a second cup at 9:05 (breakfast is served until 9am), there were still people eating breakfast, but the manager was pouring a thermal pot of coffee down the sink. When I asked if there was any more coffee, all he said was "Breakfast was over 5 minutes ago and if you're really Jonesing for coffee, walk next door to the QuikMart". Wrong answer Bubba! All of the hotel staff that I talked to were friendly and helpful, but the place isn't kept in very good shape. Short recap of the issues with my room: * There was a large (around eight inches in diameter) sticky stain on the carpet. * My non-smoking room smelled of smoke when I checked in. * On hot days, they open the windows to get some air circulation. Unfortunately, the windows are right over the smoking areas, so the hallways often smell of smoke as well. * There was a large (roughly a square foot) patch of wallpaper peeling off of the wall in the bathroom, and the bathroom fan had partially fallen out of the ceiling. Neither of these issues impacted my stay in any material way, but they're indicative of the hotel's level of upkeep. * There were several small stains on my pillowcase. It's a cheap motel, and apparently you get what you pay for. Fast internet by hotel standards, at least. read more
