It's an actual pleasure to go to this practice! (Except for the eye-drops and the "puff" machine)…read more I've been going annually for about 10 years now. And had both lenses replaced by Dr. Rommel 2 years ago. The nurse assistants and Dr. Rommel are not only very good at their jobs but are very personable and appear to take an actual interest in the patient's well-being throughout each visit. The advice and suggestions for my better eye health and general health (at my age of 81) that they offer are both intelligent and helpful. I cannot imagine any better eye care anywhere than I get at Manning & Rommel Associates. Note: The "review mafia" must have put this place on their "hit-list" for some reason. None of the "no stars" reviews are valid, in my opinion. Seems like some of them were meant for another practice and submitted here in error. Only one of the bad reviews names a Dr. in this practice, so that one's probably in the intended place.

Despite all that, I hope a "reader benefits" from this review: UNACCEPTABLE ...THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I have had a bad experience at this practice. My appt. with Dr. Thode was scheduled for 3:15 pm - I sat in that office for "2 hours" before I even got to see the eye doctor and most of that time was in the exam room, That is ridiculous - I saw people come in after me, get treated and leave before me. When I left the office it was near closing time and there were no other patients in the reception area. To make things worse, no apologies from anyone! I only went back to that practice because of a recommendation from my eye doctor, but never again!!! I hope Thode sees this because him and his staff need to do better.

Super impressed with the staff, effective, knowledgeable, and patient with me, Dr Donnaly was down to earth , described the procedure, answered all my and my spouses questions. She took us to a hall way , got the doctor to come out, said the air didn't get fixed , so he couldn't to any more than those already on IV. I asked if we would still keep the next appointment for the other eye. The doctor said no, he could be use he could schedule another one two weeks later....we went home, a day later the office calls us, apologized for the mix up that day. The she proceeded to say my husband unfortunately wasn't a candidate for the procedure to be done at that facility. It would need to be done at a hospital, because of his health issues. We had a form filled out weeks before and faxed to them. No one read it until the day of our appointment. The only hospital locally he works at , my husband won't go to. I told the lady who called we need time to talk about it. I called back three times until I got a hold of some one. The receptionist said she would transfer me to the other lady. Voice mail only.....no respond to what I had told her. None. Then , I received an email almost two weeks later reminding us for a follow up appointment for what was to be the second surgery. Not one for the surgery...the follow up....The doctor said our appoints were to be cancelled in that hallway. The department in that office don't work well together . We will go else where.

At the end of the appointment the Dr. Pavlica said he would like to see me in 3 months and I told him that the front desk told me that they were no longer accepting my insurance. He told me not to worry about it and he would "grandfather me in", meaning that he would still accept my insurance but no NEW patients with my insurance would be accepted. I thanked him and left. Three months later I went for my appointment and the front desk told me that my insurance was no longer accepted by Dr. Pavlica. I told them what Dr. Pavlica told me and they called him and said that he said he never said that he would "grandfather me in" to keep accepting my insurance and they were no longer accepting my insurance, so Dr. Pavlica lied to my face. It's a bad way to treat patients, to stress-out people who already have poor health. I was also told that they were no longer accepting my insurance because they are not getting enough for the services they provide. This doctor lives in Bent Creek Country Club development with the huge golf course in a house worth more than a million dollars., so I'm pretty sure that he has no trouble "keeping the lights on" at his business, Family Eye Group.

The chart had the dr 'on time'.Today my appointment was for 10:30 and the doctor did not come in until 11:36, and that was after I stuck my head out the door. And no apology or explanation- which goes a long way. A simple; I'm sorry, we are running late; or thank you for your patience would have been quite fine. Then it seemed the dr could not have moved faster to get me out as quickly as possible; not talking through my eye concerns, but referring me to another dr (!) ( who will not be in touch with me for a couple of weeks). Because the infection continues- the dr asked me what I wanted to do. I took a moment to say; "Um, you are the doctor, I am the patient." I mean- I did read up on glaucoma and uveitis and look at the model of the eye during my long wait- but that doesn't add up to a medical degree in ophthalmology, does it? On the way out, I told the check- out person that the chart should be corrected to say the dr was running 60 minutes behind and she glared at me. Hopefully, I will see the specialist soon and then find another eye practice for routine annual checks.

There really isn't a greeting or small talk conversation, he comes in the room and dives right in. My father likes this approach. For me personally a "hello, how are you doing" at the very minimal is expected. However the doctor did address all of concerns and when my dad expressed his difficulty in administering his own drops the doctor showed him techniques that might be helpful. My father however is often dissatisfied with the office staff and how his calls are handled (or not handled). I know he bounces around his topics when communicating and it is difficult to follow along so that might be the issue. From my only experience being witness to this the staff was cordial, but didn't go beyond that to try to make sense of what he was trying to relay. According to my father when he had medication refill issues he was bounced around their office and had to get resolution from the pharmacy. He was also directed by them when he had questions on his aftercare to call the surgery center although it was a doctor at this practice that would have the answers. The office space is clean and set up nicely with complimentary coffee and tea. It's located in an office complex on Oregon Pike which in recent years has really been built up. Due to traffic allow extra time to get to your appt as his ran right on time. So while the experience wasn't horrible I do feel the staff needs additional training on how to better deal with elderly patients, especially at their most vulnerable.
