Well, we were hoping the second time would be better.... After my last review I got a message from the manager who wanted us to come back and try again. Sure, we will try again! So we came in right before 6pm on a Monday. The place wasn't too busy, but definitely other families all around. The waitress comes and says that we have 5 minutes left to order before happy hour was over... So we quickly tried to order from that menu, but when we asked a few questions about what was in certain items, she said, "Well, I want to get this all in before it closes, I might not even be able to put in your order now" and runs away. It was 5:59. Uh? She comes back, tells us what was in dishes we asked about, we ordered a few things and she runs away again, and comes back to tell us we made it in time.... Is it really that stringent? She can't just acknowledge that we started ordering before 6 and call it good? We only ordered 3 items...
Rib tips - these were awful and had a serious hot dog taste. Cooked at way too high of temp for too short of time and then clearly reheated on the flat top. They were super fatty and had a strange anise flavor. Do not recommend these at all.
Chicken noodle soup - at first few bites, this soup was delicious. Then I realized I was SO thirsty. Then it hit me, the soup was SO salty. My husband had one bite and said, "Oh that's awesome!" Second bite, "Whoa that's salty!" Third bite, "I can't do it, it's way too salty, you eat it." I went through a drink and a half eating this soup. It had good flavor but omg way too much salt and I really like salty things.
BBQ flatbread - we got this without cheese, it was fine. The flatbread was like a cracker, nothing too great but not awful either. It was just okay.
Street tacos - We ordered these with carnitas, and they arrived with steak instead. We told the waitress, she insisted we ordered steak and I had to remind her of the conversation we had about the tacos to remind her that we had actually ordered carnitas.... Which was just weird... Why try to blame me when my husband and I know what we ordered because we even asked specific questions about it? She then was like, "Ohhhhh right, that is what you said!" She was very nice about it after that and had carnitas brought out for us. The steak was really chewy, not very good, but honestly, we should have just kept the steak because the carnitas was absolutely awful. My husband will eat pretty much anything and we had tacos left and I asked if he wanted to take them home and he said, "No way, I hope to never have to eat that ever again!" The carnitas had a weird Asian flavor to it with the slaw? Like Asian tacos? Maybe the anise flavor like on the rib tips? So strange and so not good.... The side salsa was pretty decent, probably the best thing on the plate.
Their biggest offense of all though - their guacamole. This part makes me want to cry inside. My husband tasted the guacamole and told me not to eat it, he thought there might be cream in it (I can't have most dairy), because he said it definitely wasn't straight guacamole, he said it was cut with something, a filler. We asked.... It has MAYO and EGGS in it. Say whhhhaaaa?!? They use mayo and eggs to cut their guacamole and make it go farther?! Are you kidding me?! Disgusting.
My daughter got the mac and cheese with tater tots. She ate most of the tots, but my husband said you could taste that the oil was old, should have been changed out, and that they definitely fry the fish in the same oil with the tots. The mac..... My husband said it was probably the best thing there, but they use pretty long penne noodles that I had to cut in half for my daughter, or she wanted to hold them and take bites that way, which was messy. They gave her a spoon to eat it with which was definitely not the right utensil for long penne like that. Also, the lady set the burning hot food directly in front of our 2 year old and said, "Careful, that's really hot!!" Like a 2 year old isn't going to immediately grab for it? Awesome....
One good thing was the fruit lemonade. For 4.99 you can get as many refills as you want, and try as many different flavors as you want. In all, we tried the raspberry, mango, pineapple, and huckleberry. They were all really good, we all liked the pineapple the best, but my husband's close second was the raspberry and mine was the mango.
They took money off of our bill for some of the issues we had which was nice, but overall, the food was just not good at all, and the service was okay at best. We would not go here by choice again... read more
