This place was.... Just OK. I'll start out by saying the service was friendly and fast. I ordered the Potato Chip Nachos. I've had better, the "baja veggies" as the topping for them is only corn and a few chilies (I think. All I could really see was the corn). Also had Bleu cheese crumbles. For $10.50 it was a small portion that I finished myself. So if u have a big party u might want to order another app. For my main meal I had the Black and Bleu burger and I chose Tater Tots as the side. The burger was really good. Like the only reason I rated them at 3 stars was because of the burger and the service. The Tater Tots were served cold. It was obvious they had been cooked much earlier and had been sitting under a lamp. Cold tots are no bueno in my book. I'd probably go back for a burger. For what I paid for my meal I could have had lobster. ($32.22 for the above mentioned items which included the incredibly overpriced appetizer). read more

I've driven by Hop Jacks a few times, but the odd name and building's design outside kind of made me not want to check it out until we met a friend here recently. We walked inside to find the place about a third full. Pretty drab color on the walls for a restaurant, and part of the dining area had this...gate. To deter would be invaders, I guess. I had time to imagine this scenario because, despite nobody waiting for a seat, it took us a little while to be seated. There are a few TVs in the place, but not enough for some of the tables to get a good view of what was going on. Our server was pretty friendly, and he left us alone while we ate. Took awhile to get the check, though. The food was, surprisingly, very good. Nothing too complex, just the chicken, chips and a salad. Salad was big for the price, chips were really good, and the chicken tasted like it had Johnny's seasoning on it. Wife's teriyaki burger tasted good, but was messy. Really messy. I think the middle slipped out of the bun once. Overall, an unusual building design and minor service issues are balanced out by good food. I wouldn't mind coming back. read more

One and done place. Sat at the bar and ordered an Old Fashion. A classic drink I think a seasoned bartender would know. She even told me she haven't made it in a while. She looked it up, then made it. I had to ask for bitters and my sugar never dissolved. She told us the signature drinks were not sweet but we had to ask for water to wash it down. She made herself seem busy but there was maybe 16 patrons with at least 8 staff. I should have ordered a beer instead. We order & split a Caesar salad and the seafood pasta. The romaine lettuce was wilted and the dressing was watered down cream. The pasta had broccoli in it that tasted frozen, reheated and served with the 3 cheese sauce that was also watered down. It seem nothing at this restaurant is fresh. You would do better with a frozen Banquet dinner meal. read more

since it's been kind of a long week, i suggested we go out to dinner this evening. i originally wanted to go for sushi, since we haven't done that in kitsap county yet, but we were both craving greasy deliciousness. silver city sounded just about perfect, but we've already been there and i wanted to try something new, so hop jacks it was! i was skeptical about coming here because a lot of the reviews mention poor or slow service, and bad service is a pet peeve of mine, but i am happy to report that was not the case for us at all! our waitress was fast and on it. she got us beer and our appetizer lightning fast. we had ordered the blue cheese potato chip nachos, which were good, but were lacking in the blue cheese department. what would really take these to the next level would be to ditch the corn and tomato, make a blue cheese cream sauce, keep the bacon and scallions. maybe add some chive. but they were good none the less. my husband ordered the hop jack burger. he gave it a great compliment. he said it reminded him of an in-n-out burger, which coming from him is pretty much unheard of!!!!! a simple, straight forward, fresh and delicious burger. great job, hop jacks :) i had the buffalo chicken wrap with tater tots. very good! the food came out fast, looked good, tasted fresh. the service was spot on as well! read more

My husband ordered a blackened blue burger cooked medium and I ordered the mac and cheese (it was one of a couple options without bacon on the menu). The burger was overly well done and lacked any seasoning. The mac and cheese was flavorless and frankly inedible. It came with a side of garlic pita bread but someone forgot to add the garlic. I've been reading the reviews and it seems to be a crap shoot this place. I'll tell you about my experience. We went here for lunch during the week. Got seated right away. I'll give our server a D. The table next to us got seated after us and had everything delivered to their table before us. He also mixed up my order and I had to wait while the rest of my table ate while they fixed it. However, my steak sandwich w/carmelized onions was fabulous so it was worth the wait! My husband's chicken sandwich was also very good. I suggest trying the potato chips...they were good. I have eaten at Hop Jacks at least 5 times now so I feel like I can give a solid review. I haven't tried something and not liked it. When my parents were visiting in town recently we ordered the BBQ Chicken Quesadilla, the Mac and Cheese, one of the burgers (it had mushrooms on it), french onion soup and a entree salad. Everyone loved what they ate. The service has always been great. I ate there on Valentine's Day with my friends, their two infants, (I also had my baby girl). They were giving out flowers to every woman who came in. It was a very busy lunch hour and the server accidentally put the order of the table next to us twice. When he brought us the wrong food he quickly apologized and brought us free chips and fries. Our food came out quickly after that. The manager and server both apologized. Our meal was comped and they even sent us home with dessert to go. I understand mistakes are made and Hop Jacks handled the situation beautifully. We will be back! read more

So hop jacks may not be the fancy place you want to go with dim lighting and waiters in tuxes, but every time I come here I leave happy and satisfied. The bathrooms are clean, the staff is friendly and conversational and the food is always excellent. AND if you don't like it or something is wrong they'll fix it no questions asked. This is the perfect place to come after work and unwind or just sit for hours with a friend for good conversation. We went on our date night away from the kids as we had never been here before. Atmosphere was outstanding and the service was great. I ordered the morning burger which was good but not great. She ordered the meatloaf. We were both very unimpressed by this as it was basically a hamburger patty with mushrooms and onions on top of it. (Had to pay extra to add the mushrooms and onions) the meatloaf was basically hamburger meat with no seasoning or sauce/gravy.The manager comped the meatloaf so we were happy the accommodated. I am a vegan in a carnivore family. I often find myself having to compromise on dining options. This place was awesome. The service was top notch. I had their veggie burger. It was the best black bean burger I have had at any restaurant. There is no egg or cheese as a binder. I replaced the provolone and hop jack sauce with sautéed mushrooms and mustard. I tried the Shrimp Tempura & it's the best I've ever had...that's saying a lot because I'm from HI. We know shrimp tempura. Lol! I also tried the boneless buffalo wings & that was also amazing. It had so much kick to it that made it so crave-able. Their happy hour selection seems pretty awesome too, btw! As for my entree I went with the mushroom burger. The patty is mixed & pressed there (you can totally tell) & they weren't shy on the mushrooms either. It was every mushroom lovers dream! I could have done without the sour kraut but that's my own personal opinion which is why it did not affect my rating. Our waitress was excellent!
