The bartender made some great recommendations first with the different flavor Long Island ice teas, I had strawberry, and by far the best French onion soup I've ever had. I was not impressed with this Hop Jack's location. I'm only giving them a 2 star review because my husband enjoyed his food. They could only seat us in the bar area, and our server left us alone for a long time between greeting us, bringing drinks, and taking our order. I feel like we waited about twenty minutes for all of those things to transpire. My food was not correct when it arrived, and by the time they brought it back out, my husband had already finished and we needed to get going so we could go to the movies. This was not an ideal moment, and when I looked at my food and realized it was still wrong, they comped it and we paid for his food. That was the correct solution, but I was frustrated with the fact that someone in the kitchen (or my server) wasn't paying close enough attention to the ticket. It is a decent bar, and we have enjoyed being at different HJ locations, but this location was forgettable. read more

I was at HopJacks tonight, 25May18 at 1945, watching the Celtics and Cavaliers playoffs game. I was drinking at the bar area and had 2 vodka tonic well drinks. I told the bartender that I was only drinking 2 glasses since I was driving after the game. The bartender kept pushing me to buy drinks (there was 3/4 empty seats around the bar area), after I told her I'm done drinking and paid my bill. She even wanted me to buy a drink when I was still drinking my first vodka and tonic while it was 1/3 full. I recommend, if you want to eat there, to just get a table or go somewhere else to eat and drink. I guess the new management's goal is to increase profits...but, if a customer has bought something already and worried not to get a DUI, then why keep asking me for a drink if I said I just wanted 2 and to finish the game. It's not like I was there prior to the game starting; I got there 5 minutes before the end of the second quarter. I used to go there all the time since I like the wings, but I'm going to somewhere else from now on. read more

This is a perfect spot for drinks and dinner after work. The view is amazing. It opens out to the water and it's was beautiful to look out. The service was awesome. We usually sit at the bar and love all the bartenders, but sat out in main section a few weeks ago with our kids and it was packed, but they have a well oiled machine to serve and deliver. Yes!!! Our experience at Hops n Drops was a great one! Our waitress Allison was one of nicest and most helpful waitresses we have had so far. Our food and drinks were quick and we didn't have to wait very long. The food was incredible and you could tell was made from scratch instead of some restaurants that heat it up. We had a wonderful meal and time here! Only down side is if you wanted a margarita they don't make it blended. But otherwise it was a worth the trip!! read more

My husband and I had a wonderful lunch today served by Trenton. It was his third or fourth day waitressing. He did a really good job in spite of his learning curve. The manager was patient with him. We came in last friday night around 8, we were seated in the bar, menu's delivered with a promise out server would be right over. I was with a gf I hadn't seen in a long time, so we started chatting, and chatting, and we weren't paying much attention to the time. After seeing about 20 different servers pass us by, I realized we had waited for over 30 MINUTES and had not been waited on yet!!! The biggest problem with Hop Jacks begins before you even get into the place. The parking lot is tiny. Very very tiny and with very little room to turn around. Good luck if you own a truck. It's turned me away from eating here 2 times because I simply did not want to waste my time trying to park. It's that bad. That said, if you like Red Robin you should like this. The burgers are better and the rest of the food is roughly the same, but with hight prices. Happy hour prices seem solid. I enjoyed my burger topped with a fried egg (I'm on a kick where adding an egg to something is always a plus, so good on offering that), but felt it was too greasy as a whole. The service is attentive to the point of being a detractor. Like most chains, it doesn't quite have the balance right on giving attentiveness and giving me space while eating. All that said, It's a slightly better Red Robin with a solid tap selection that has a parking lot that will turn away more customers that it's food ever will. read more

Hop Jacks- I wanted to laugh when I saw this plate. This is the steak & eggs breakfast. WORST! So let me explain. The food was very bland, it has no flavor whatsoever. It was brought to the table like warm as if it was just warmed up and put on the plate. The biscuit look like it was thawed out and heated up. (McDonald's serves better biscuits than this) To add insult, our server act like he didn't want to serve us. He was very dry and only came to our table once. He didn't take our order, never brought our drinks out or brought our food out. His waiting service was poor. Hop jacks has been known to be very inconsistent with their service & food. We've been twice now, and I really wish I had nicer things to say. Because I don't want to be completely negative when reviewing a new[ish] establishment, I guess I'll start with the few positive things I can. The GOOD: More than anything else, the lemonade. For around four bucks you can get bottomless lemonade in a variety of flavors. Mix, match and enjoy [seriously try the peach/raspberry, utterly amazing on a hot day]. You can also get them to go if you want one for the road. No extra charge. The servers have also been absolutely on point on both of our visits. Friendly and attentive without being obnoxious, and generally knowledgeable about their menu to make fairly solid recommendations. The house-made chips are pretty decent. Nothing to write home about, but they definitely trump anything bagged. The BAD: Other than the cheap bottomless lemonades, the prices are pretty bad. On our first visit I went for the 'Sante Fe' grilled cheese. MISTAKE. The bread was on par with rainbow bread, and the cheese [monterey jack and cheddar] tasted like cheap processed crap. And if I'm going to pay ten dollars for a grilled cheese that's greatest innovation is sliced avocado and tomato, you'd better be melting some pretty high quality cheese in between two slices of good bread. They definitely didn't. My wife ordered some sort of utterly mediocre club sandwich with fries and was pretty grossed out by their mayo-esque 'ranch' that she asked for with her fries. On our second visit we just popped in for a couple of delicious lemonades and decided to try the bbq chicken quesadilla that so many yelpers have reviewed so favorably. Just like my lame grilled cheese, our quesadilla set us back ten bucks. The tortilla was stale, the chicken lacked any sort of seasoning or marination, and the bbq sauce was overly sweet. And as others have said, the parking lot is a joke. We were able to find a space both times, but we've also seen people idling and circling while searching and/or waiting for a space to free up. The UGLY: I don't know what gives, but on both of our visits the hostess has been utterly pissy and generally unpleasant. And these were two different hostesses. They both just acted like we were putting them out by having the audacity to come in and wanting to be seated so we could enjoy a meal. It was honestly more strange than insulting. The tap list. I mean come on, not only are you an eating establishment with a name that's a throw back to the early brewing years, but you're located in the pacific Northwest, one of the best places in the world to enjoy local craft and micro brews. Both times we've been in the tap list has been a total joke, but that being said our first waiter actually apologized for the lame selection, so I didn't feel like a TOTAL beer snob. Music selection is also crap. I don't know if it was because our first visit was on a friday evening or not, but it was fairly crowded and we were actually seated right next to the bar. The bar was blaring lame techno and club music which actually made it difficult to enjoy the time spent with my wife. The drunk bro-dogs clumsily hitting on other patrons and waitresses made for good people watching though. read more

Always Nice to have something New in Kitsap. This new Silverdale Restaurant/Bar seems to be Flourishing. Lots of Stuff on the Menu, interesting appetizers. Different Burger Choices (I tried the Teriyaki Burger, It was Awesome) All burgers interchangeable between Hamburger or Chicken (Cool Idea). Also tried the Caesar Salad and it was also amazing. The Beers are plentiful, and Ice, Ice Cold !!, Lots of drink choices too, some served in a Ice Cup (Cool) Service was fine when I visited, Friendly, Attentive, No real Complaints. (Special Thanks Juice) I will return for more Burger options and at least to get that Caesar Salad again. read more

We love this place! Most important to us is that the wait staff has ALWAYS been exceptionally friendly and attentive. We are always seated quickly, drinks arrive quickly, and we've never had a problem with our order. We used to go regularly; not so much any more. My complaints about the place: (1) Families with little screaming kids have found it. (2) It's loud. Not rock concert loud, but loud enough that you feel relieved when you get outside. (3) Seems to be a pretty consistent turnover of people. Sure, there are still some friendly faces that have been there since the beginning, but seems like new folks every visit. My wife and I ate here yesterday and were pleased with everything. I had the new BBQ burger, it was incredible. The hand patted ground beef was quality as were the rest of the ingredients. The wife had the Mac and Cheese, and as a connoisseur of fine Mac and cheese everywhere, she was quite impressed! Their beer selection is robust with many taps of very cold brew. The waitress was very good and personable. She provided great recommendations and knew all the details of the business she was representing. The atmosphere was slow, but we were there in mid afternoon so nothing be surprised about. Overall it seems like a great place for a family lunch/dinner or a group looking to go out and start a great bar night. Yes, it's a chain. Yes, the ambiance leaves MUCH to be desired. However-- the menu is expansive and delicious. Never had ANY item disappoint-- especially the burgers. All burgers are made to order, fresh and are 100% customizable. Don't want a bun? No problem, you can go without, wrap it, or lettuce bun. Sides abounds. TONS of delicious sauces for either burgers or tots. Tons of appetizers. Huge salads. And the best bit: their drinks. I absolute adore their lemon drop, and totally understand why the 're-name' includes the drops. They make an ice shot container, sugar the rim, and make strong punches. You can get them in practically any flavor: lemon, peach, strawberry, blackberry, watermelon, etc. Yum! Best bit, not unreasonably priced. Each menu item easily averages ~$10. I've been to Hop Jacks a few times. Mainly when it was late and after work to go with a few girls so we can talk, gripe, and of course gossip. Due to the late hour I've never had an issue with parking, normally having a spot right up front. I've seen it during other hours and there is no way there is enough parking area for the business they get. Plus along the side next to Taco Time trying to pull out of that tiny area when it is busy is a nightmare. But besides the parking... Outside look isn't much, but I'm sure they were going modern so it's expected. But I'm not here to gawk at architecture. Once inside the first two things I always notice are how dark it is and how noisy it is. Not sure those are plusses to notice for a first impression, but there you go. The staff is normally minimum at this time, but everyone is nice. We normally sit in the bar area and I'm normally the last to arrive so my friends already have chosen a spot. I'm not picky on where I sit at restaurants so it's all good. The booths are situated high so don't trip or fall when you get up! Service isn't bad. Nothing to seriously write home about, then again girls who are sitting at a bar gossiping I am happy not to be interrupted every five minutes. I never catch the name of the girls who waited on us, but they take our order correctly and the drinks and food come out in a timely manner so that's a plus. Side note, but it is a clean place, including the restrooms. I don't know about you, but going in to a public restroom can be scary and if it's kept clean I am happy. So plus there too! But on to the food and drinks - I normally get a Strawberry Drop. These are really good! The ice cups are a super cute and cool idea and mine is normally rimmed with sugar and they also give you the extra drink that doesn't fit into the ice glass on the side in the metal mixer. Yes, these drinks are alcoholic and, yes, the server always card us which is good protocol for them! Besides not always being too hungry at this late time of day due to my food allergies I always have a minimum selection of food (but I did note they extended their gluten free menu so I will have to come back and check that out!) I order the herb and cheese dip and have never been disappointed. I also end up taking the left overs home so I consider it a good portion. Hop Jacks isn't where I would choose to go eat regularly, but it's a fun place to go with friends (although trying to hold too much of a deep conversation is almost impossible due to the noise level). I had avoided it for awhile because I had heard even though the bar drinks were awesome the food was only okay and took forever to get to you. Maybe I'm too busy with my friends to notice, or maybe it's because we don't go at a busy time, but I have yet to run in to these issues. Let's hope this luck keeps up on later visits. read more

The wait times (at least in my experience) have been beyond absurd. I realize there are some TVs and some folks no doubt come to watch a game, but short of physically grabbing someone and demanding a refill or a check, you could lose a good part of your day here waiting on a waiter (is that a pun?) I became ill after the last time I ate here, in the middle of working a 14-hour shift. I couldn't leave. It was just *fabulous.* As with most visits, I had the turkey club "wrapped" in lettuce, which at this restaurant means there is a wad of iceberg on either side of the sandwich contents in place of bread with a toothpick stabbed through it. Prior to that, I'd been here several times. The food is okay, not outstanding. The French onion soup is probably my favorite item. I am usually working or headed to work when I've eaten here, so alcoholic beverages aren't a menu item with which I've much experience here. The waitstaff has been a mixed bag. I'm usually asked more than a couple of times if I've been helped if I have to wait for any period of time. Despite this, waitstaff can be painfully inattentive once you are at a table. On most visits, I've had to retrieve extra napkins or a place setting for myself. Rarely have I been asked if I would like my water glass refilled or simply had it done. I may sit at the bar for a bowl of FOS, but I cannot see coming here for anything other than that. read more

As far as the food I got a cheeseburger that ended up being a little too messy for my liking. My friend had some sort of Mac and cheese deal. He ate most of it. Hop Jack's seems to have a great reputation amongst the locals in Silverdale, but being an outsider, it just doesn't float my boat.. Pros: Friendly service, clean environment, good selection of micro brews, daily happy hour, dirt cheap fried pickles, and a great view of Dye's Inlet. Cons: It is an awkward mix of family friendly and bar which makes you not sure if you should be in and out or if you can sit around and have a good time for hours, missing Lagunitas from their pride of a beer selection, uninterested bartenders who are often more family oriented than good time oriented, expensive and unimaginative menu items, overly sterile environment. On one visit, they had Lagunitas on tap, so I was stoked! However, when the waitress brought me my beer it was clearly the wrong one. I told her it didn't taste right, so she brought me another, and it was the same incorrect "pilsner". She insisted it was correct, and that the taste of beer varies per keg. This is true, kind of.. But not like this. So I insist once again, and she brings me a taster.. Still wrong. I finally say I will just get a different beer, and at this time the bartender realizes she was poring me some no name lager instead of Lagunitas. After this, our waitress pretty much forgot about us for over an hour, and it was time to go. We had to flag someone down to get our check, and they seemed annoyed we did so. I complained, and to my amazement, the manager came out and comp'd our meal. It is this reason I am giving 2 stars instead of 1. Lesson to be learned by Hop Jack's. If you want to be "cool" choose which group you want to satisfy, shrink the market you are after, and you will have more satisfied clientele. read more

Went on a Thursday night. It was very busy but we didn't have to wait. The food was excellent. At the table we had a burger, turkey club, and mac'n'cheese. All were delicious. I give five stars for the food. The parking is terrible and the the design of the building is unfortunate. The open plan and lack of sound deadening make the place very loud. The semi-circle booth we had seemed too small for four people. Finally our food was delivered in stages with the mac'n'cheese arriving several minutes after the other entrees, and the appetizer arriving last despite it being ordered with the drinks. We also never got water even after asking for it three times. I will cut them a break on the service since it had not even been open a week. read more

Our first time there, we had heard mixed reviews from friends/locals before going. I expected it to be over-priced, and it was, but not astronomically. The garlic fries and steak salad were good, but for the price, iceberg lettuce in a $16 salad, was a cheap choice on the part of whatever developed the menu. Where are the mixed greens, spinach, etc.? Also, a little better trimming off of the fat on the steak would be better, imo, for a salad. The place was clean,our server was really good, even when my order, initially came out wrong and had to be sent back. So it was my birthday and I wanted to go somewhere all my friends can have a great time and still try some of the northwestern taste. After looking around for a while and taking everyone's taste into consideration, we came across this place. I was kind of iffy at first because they would not do phone reservations. Pulled up at the restaurant and the hosts greeted me and took care of my big party and we got a table faster than any other chain restaurants. Jolynn was fast and really on her heels to attend to all of our orders and drinks. We ordered and it only took around 15 minutes to get all of our orders out. This place is different from any other places because of their drinks. Their drinks come out at 34F and the mixed drinks are in a ice cone in a glass cup. We got the spicy Asian pork ribs and spicy chicken grilled cheese, they both exceeded my expectations and to top it off the potato chips are to die for. Mini donuts are fresh out and can be a great dessert. read more

Staying at the hotel one block away where the food was just downright unpleasant. Came over here off a suggestion from my boss to save my night staying in Silverdale for work. Sat at the bar and the service was great! Good suggestions from the bartender and a sample of a beer I shortly thereafter decided on having. Monday night football, good beer and a very legit BBQ chicken quesadilla. If you want a good brewpub this place has my vote and I'm from Portland where the brew pub bar is set high! First time in Silverdale and I stay overnight on the road a TON so I'll give this place a thumbs up without hesitation. Might change it to five stars on my next trip... It's a 4.5 star but if the next trip is consistent I'll drop a 5. Haha hopefully they don't let me down. Again... Service was great! Beer selection is always a plus for me and they got it. read more
